You choose and state why. What is the greatest console (everything besides PC)?

In my opinion, the PlayStation 1 has the best system for RPG's because that's where the gameplay and storylines shined.

Already a dissenter enters the ring!:D

While PSX had a number of great RPGs, it was also around the time that people were pushing things and deciding that voices were great. Too often, that was NOT the case(primarily because the people they hired couldn't voice worth a damn). I prefer the simpler times, when there wasn't a ton of power and graphic colors to play with. I prefer the Sega Genesis for two main reasons: Phantasy Star and Shining Force. Examples of simple games that are still held to a platinum standard today.

PS2 imo. Ginormous library of awesomeness and able to play all the awesomeness of the PS1.

I voted 'Other' and choose the PC. The amount of great RPG's available for this really do make it shine. Sierra's Quest for Glory series really shines as a prime example of a great RPG series. Add in the old RPG series by SSI (Strategic Simulations Incorporated) with games like Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, Dark Queen of Krynn, Treasures of the Savage Frontier and Pools of Radiance, the PC has a great lineup of RPG's.

I read some of the Dragonlance books, the library had a bunch of them. ^^
I'm picking the PS2 since I have such a large variety nice RPG's on it, still have quite a few not finished with yet...

Pretty much this...

I kinda disagree.... the PlayStation did have some great titles, I don't deny that. But earlier consoles (as well as PC) have some great titles which are just as good, if not better... than PSX RPG's. Just my two cents.

I'm not sure I can say which system has the best RPGs. The PC, PS1, PS2 and the modern consoles, all contribute quality titles.

Like Revan says, it would be criminal to vote against the PC when it has titles like the Quest for Glory series on it, but then again, I can't very well say FF7 is one of my favourite RPGs ever and then not put in a vote for the PS1.

So I'm going to be an utter coward and abstain.

Remember though, FFVII (and FFVIII) are available on PC.

Gameplay wise, WRPG weren't my cup of tea until Diablo or KOTOR. I don't like the focus of the gameplay of WRPG in general. Although I admit that there are quite crazy awesome titles for PC, but my problem is that I can't bring myself to enjoy them because of it's gameplay, case example Fallout.
And JRPG the best ones hit the PSX IMO.
That's why I can't vote for an older system or PC for that matter.
And PS2 :shrugs: There are quite amazing titles, I'll admit that. But the good ones are very little in number & they don't get near to the awesomeness of the PS1 ones IMO. The library of the PS2 is full of shitty titles as it is full with good ones. But not with Great Ones.

Just my two cents as well. =D

I guess I meant console gaming system. Every kind of gaming console except PC. Sorry for the late edit.

Obviously the DS. It's got ports from the other consoles, the GBA library of games (dsphat/dslite).

The DS seems to be getting the best RPGs now. But 10 years ago the PS1 was rocking its socks off.

For me it's between PS1 and PS2. Probably PS1.

The only reason I chose PS1 was becuase this was the first console that introduced me to RPG, but yeah it was probably between PS1 and PS2.

This was a hard choice, but I consider Super Nintendo the best system for RPG's. There are many reasons why I consider it the best system: Nostalgia. My favorite game of all time is on the Super Nintendo. Most of the games on my top 10 games list are on the Super Nintendo. I could go on, but I'll keep this short for anyone who's reading this. xD
