Well, you wicked creature, you might want to retitle your post YARED'S reject Troy score... just so folks will know they are in for something very special, very beautiful, very rare... and deserves the attention it was denied.

Horner... shame on you! ;-)

Don't blame Horner. He did the best he could with the time he was given.
Blame the producers who make such stupid decisions.
Legend anyone??? I mean replacing Jerry Goldsmith's score with Tangerine Dream......OMG

Wow, someone with an actual RATIONAL, level-headed point who's smart enough NOT to use any excuse to dump on Horner who had nothing to do with Yared's music being rejected but people just craved the excuse anyway....you're a rare one on these internets!

I only complain about Horner in this score becuase he copied so heavily from the score but at the same time lambasted it so vehemently. His sentiments, although his own and just him being true, I felt, were very rude and off base.

gashoe13
04-24-2012, 10:08 AM
@JHFan it is true, however, that Horner said unspeakable things about Yared's score.

As much as I love the early Horner, I have to say that his score from Troy, is well, you know him... Self-plagiarism all over, Yareds score is magnificent, epic, well a true masterpiece, but Horner is no fool and he used the same vocalist that Yared first choose, that is the only thing that gives a sense of "belonging" to his score.

PS. Excuse my English

Oh... I think Goldsmith's LEGEND getting the boot ranks pretty much at the top... but then they did not BLAME HIM for the film's short comings, as they did poor Yared.

Just as this thread popped up again I like to ask if a lossless version ever saw the light of day. Anyone?

Haven't seen the director's cut so far. I hope Petersen had nightmares to throw this great music to the basket. LOL

The Score of Troy - A Mystery Unveiled: by Gabriel Yared (http://www.thescreamonline.com/film/film4-3/yared.html)

The decision to replace me had been taken and meetings with other composers had already taken place before I even spoke personally to Wolfgang. (...) Throughout the whole project I had felt that my relationship with Wolfgang was very strong and I am convinced that he was more than happy with my score, he was very supportive and enthusiastic and attended nearly every recording session.

EDIT: Sorry, I don't have this in lossless. Was the promo lossless to begin with? :O

I have 'lossless' or the closest thing to it released

this version:

Extraction: Exact Audio Copy v0.99 pb1
Compression: WavPack 4.40
Included: 300dpi scans, Cue & Log (Embedded)
Size: 357MB
Total Time: 79:58
Edition: Bootleg (EU)

Download Troy 'Lossless' bootleg via MEGA (https://mega.co.nz/#!klVFkSIK!HfTvoGBr8j_l2zkx2CoDN1VUgIopVb6H42sBCvn ziyY)

Probable source is a CD Yared gave out to some people.

I agree, it's one of my favorite scores of the 2000s. I've added a link on my post before yours, last on page 1. Enjoy!

Oh wow. What an absolutely fabulous score. And I'd had no idea that this even existed. Back in 2004, I'd bought Horner's score even before I'd seen the movie, but I'd always found it rather milquetoast and uninteresting. Now that I know the whole story, I realize why and I'm absolutely thrilled to have Yared's original efforts - and to have it be so damned interesting and enjoyable to listen to!

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!!!!
