I love how they used to lie already in 1989: BATMAN, a digital recording !... When it's a digital master made from analog recordings.

I'm guessing "digital" was some kind of buzzword back then in the industry. Kind of like what "3D" is now, I guess.

@Lilu: Do you by chance have the La-La Land edition of the 1966 Batman Movie cd? I know its on the site but its mp3. If you have the actual physical disc, can you upload in lossless?

I believe since 1989 & Returns are lossless, you have the physicial discs themselves. Is that correct? If so, why save the originals when that content is on the expanded editions aren't they? Then again, you wouldn't get much money from them if at all.

@Arial: How do you know that? I believe you're just speculating as you likely do not work for/with those who released the discs nor were you involved in the making of them. Annoys me when people talk like they know something. It's illogical.

What's illogical to me is to precise Shawn Murphy made a digital master for the album release each time it is mentionned. For me besides, the sound of this score has an analog touch the Batman Returns for instance has not... It feels so alive (for a digital recording!). So, maybe Tomlinson is such a genius.

But you're right to doubt, I was sounding a little too affirmative in the above post while I don't know exactly how they managed it and just have to guess. But it happens sometimes that people know something... ;-)

If you get that message, then you are not accessing the links correctly. The encryption key is an integral part of the link, I have just tried them and they are fine.

Both links display with three consecutive dots "..." in the string. The string behind what is displayed is actually much longer. When you click on the link, or copy "as a link" the browser knows the complete link behind the one actually displayed and uses that. If you simply highlight the visible string and copy and paste that into the browser command line, it copies the line "as seen" and not as it really is. In that event, it will then ask for the "decryption key" as it knows the link is incomplete.

See, this is what happens when I don't pay attention. Exactly as you described by not clicking the link to get the full name, I copied the link directly into another browser's window without noticing the "..." - hence the shortened path. Thanks for showing me that I really am getting old and senile! ;D

Just thought I would add another post to this as I had some difficulty downloading the files off Mega.

At about the 50% mark the download for Firefox would pause and announce that for files over 1 gig I needed to load the Mega plug-in. Weird because the file wasn't over 1 gig. In any case, after I allowed the install of the Mega Plug-in, the link would no longer work at all and it kept coming up with errors. This appears to be an error with the plug-in version 2. After I removed the Mega plug-in which was installed, I was able to install an earlier version 1.0.3 manually.

This fixed the plug-in issue and allowed the download to complete. Hope this helps someone else (as it failed mid-download multiple times for me)

So LLL just announced they're going to re-release these two as a set.

Going on sale next Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 12 pm pst

THE DANNY ELFMAN BATMAN COLLECTION: BATMAN / BATMAN RETURNS: LIMITED EDITION (4-CD SET) LLLC 1327

Limited Edition of 3000 Units

RETAIL PRICE: $49.98

In honor of Batmans 75th Anniversary, La-La Land Records, Warner Bros. and WEA proudly present THE DANNY ELFMAN BATMAN COLLECTION: BATMAN / BATMAN RETURNS: LIMITED EDITION (4-CD SET).

https://www.facebook.com/lalalandrecords/posts/10152959770728755:0

" Batman swoops back into La-La Land with this thrilling re-issue of our previously out-of-print deluxe editions of Danny Elfmans classic, original scores to the Tim Burton-directed BATMAN (1989) and BATMAN RETURNS (1992), presented together for the first time!

While the programs presented on these discs are the same as found on our acclaimed initial releases,

BATMAN (1989) has been overseen by producer Neil S. Bulk and newly remastered by James Nelson from recently unearthed score elements, resulting in better sound quality.

(BATMAN RETURNS is the same master as our previous release.) "

Seems worth it if you didn't buy the previous batch.
If you did, it's only worth it for the remastered 1989 score and the new booklet.

I wonder just how remastered it will sound.

Not so uncommon.

They're re-re-releasing Batman (1989) on bluray.
Another anniversary edition.

So aside from the initial release and then the "diamond dexluxe" (which turned out to be exact same transfer as the initial release; reported by so many viewers), now there's another Batman to sell.

Isn't piracy a money saver?

Nothing was found for the second one to remaster.

My guess is the first time they released Batman (1989), they were under time constraints so remastered it only to a certain point. Pretty it all up and slap a sales sticker at it and let you guys nibble.
All the while, they were still working on remastering it (along with other projects).
Sounds like something they had planned all along just to synch up with Batman's 75th Anniversary.

Yes, the "Diamond Luxe" edition has the existing release as disc 1, and a bonus disc with a new "Birth Of The Modern Blockbuster" documentary on it. It was $20 so there was no way in hell, not for a bonus disc with one feature on it.

Yes, exactly. The 1989 album master was fine, the film version was a whole other case.

I'm thinking the timing with that massive Elfman-Burton box set had something to do with it the first time.

This time they said they obtained a new "Digital stereo mix" of the film version score after the initial release and they claim it sounds much much better than it ever did before, and the "Batwing" cue with that tacky fade-out has a proper ending this time, like the Elfman box version did.

Yeah, it'd be a great first-time purchase if I didn't already have it.
The same shenannigans with Star Trek: Into Darkness Compendium.
I only bought the first one used from a video store. Which I just gave to my friend since he bought STID in 3D BD.

Now I have the special features disc to both movies, the IMAX version for STID and all in 2D.
Between the two of us, we're pretty much set on Star Trek sales.

We also worked out the same deal on The Hobbit.
I'll get the theatrical cuts, while he gets the extended editions.

Can't wait til this is released and then see what everyone thinks.
I'll download it, for sure. Complete collection, all that.

Personally, yes I bought Batman, but I did not buy Batman Returns. I was never interested in that score as an album experience. I'm still not.

I can't buy this set because I'm looking for work and therefore can't afford it, but I would buy it because not only is it a remastered presentation of the first (which I think will be wonderful because the quality of the music is the biggest thing for me) but it looks like a great comprehensive package of both scores.
