So, I think this is a fan made boot. JHFan may be able to enlighten us. I tend to remove tracks from albums as I acquire them, like the D.B. Cooper tracks. I am curious about the track from Perfect Storm though (longliners) and whether this is an unreleased track, or if it is a retitled track from the OST? Even though the album is encoded @ 320, I doubt some of the sources are such....

The "Longliners' cue is an edit of "Coming Home from the Sea". It was available only on the official CD Single of the James Horner/John Mellencamp song for the film, called "Yours Forever".

The CBS theme is mine, one of my earliest recorded edits of it. The rest are for the most part, sourced from VHS and DVD recordings from what I can tell.

I had a feeling the theme was yours. I debated deleting it from the archive. I take it you did not put this together...isn't it fun to know your early edits get put into "albums" passed off as official? I gather the Themes and Suites album is not official either. I would still like to have the D>B. Cooper main titles off of that though..

no, I had nothing to do with this rarities album. I've never had access to all those old movies on VHS in order to make something like this. The Themes and Suites is the earliest bootleg compilation and is quite good for the at-the-time rare stuff it has, most of it finally released officially.

First, I have to say that these "Horner rarities" albums aren't official albums, just fan made compilations made from fans for fans. Unlike the "Suite & Themes" bootleg, which was made for selling.

The music was taken from many different sources: already available short bootlegs (like Streets of Fire), cd singles, DVDs, VHS and even music from 11kbps real audio mono tracks, like the beginning of the "Universal Pictures fanfare" on its longer version.

What you have posted, is some kind of mix between the 2 first "Rarities" albums. With the pass of time, most of the music is now outdated as new albums have been released for some of the scores here presented. Still, your compilation is missing the rejected suite from "Streets of Fire", which was included in the first Rarities album and I don't know if you already have in your collection.

I'll list here the tracklist of all 3 rarities albums, all 3 were compiled in the early 2000's, so they don't contain any new music appeared since then:

I don't know precisely where my archive is from. I am aware it was fan produced from various sources. And, ya most of it is now available in new releases. I do have the rejected streets of fire, I think. I would like this vol III rarities if possible. The Stone Boy suite--is that a dvd rip?

Probably your archive comes from all 3 albums I've listed.
The one which sure doesn't comes from them is the "CBS Theme" which wasn't composed in those times, and probably the Universal Logos, specially the long one, if it has good sound.

I'll upload probably all 3 volumes in vbr (lame -v2) and their original artwork, in a different thread. Later, I can upload in lossless if necessary. I don't have any rapidshare or megaupload account. Which server is better for uploading without the risk of the files being deleted soon?

multiupload loads it to several hosters at once, including RS, MU, and Hotfile. If one link goes, the others remain. The CBS news theme is from the member JHFan. He posted an album here lately. He has done a dozen or more tracks of variations of the theme.

On things like this, and the suites and themes, I often edit as I go. If an album shows up, then I remove those particular tracks, and often merge smaller archives into one, being as they are compilations anyway....

I know JHFan and his unbelievable work on Horner's music ;). The world needs more music fans like him, who enjoy making custom compilations and video edits and, the most important thing, he makes accurate compilations and share them.

I don't see any cues from his work on that film in your compilations... to me that was one of his most haunting, emotional scores he wrote during the 80's.

Wow... thanks for the link Babydoll. I was sure someone knew about that score. Great music and a very powerful film. I saw it in theaters when it was released in high school and to this day it still sends shivers up my spine.

I've been wanting to hear Vella (film version) from Krull for years!

Was there an official soundtrack for SURVIVING (1985)? I've been lucky enough to finally find the complete movie after a 3 year search. I wrote a paper on suicide in my sophomore year of college, shortly before this movie came out. And I thought it was an excellent portrayal of suicidal patients.

I would love to have the soundtrack, but so far, so lousy. Just a clip here and there.
