What's your best comptetion times?
My best time is roughly 70 hours. I do muck around alot too, so that's about as fast as I've ever completed it.

Well, unbelievably it was the 2nd time i played it (out of the million and one times i played it) because the first time was used to understand what to do, then i knew everything in the storyline and followed it completely. I finished the game in roughly 32 hours, though my memory ain't that clear, might have been one more or less.

I think around 28 hours is my best time. Out of the *counts fingers* 42 times.

I choose not to play Final Fantasy games [Well all RPGs really] to get fast times and really my best time on any [In Depth] RPG is around 70 hours  The longest on FF7 is around 120! All hail king of L337|\|355!

I'm not saying you're lying, but Carry Armor must have taken you days to beat. ;)

As for my fastest time, it was 99:59:59 for ages, but when I played that game at low levels I finished it in about 30 hours. :)

Especially no KotR to instantly beat it lol. My longest time isn't known. I'm still playing it, and it's like yours Multigemini.

I had a time of 7:07:10 at the save point I created in the final dungeon and have the savefile to prove it. This was from back when we had the competition a while back to try to beat the game really quickly. As I mentioned back then though, I also strongly suspect that the clock on my game runs slow.

The cutscenes alone hafta be 8 hours. So what were u, lvl 10?

Agent0042

The cutscenes have to be at least eight hours long? No, I don't think so. Let's just say just for the heck of it that there's 100 cutscenes in the game (I actually think there's way less) and each is an average of 3 minutes. That's 100 X 3 which makes 300 minutes=5 hours.

And to answer you question, my characters were around Level 50. And yes, as I said, I'm pretty much certain that my FFVII clock runs slow. But if you still don't believe me, I do have the savefile, as well as a screenshot to prove it. Or search back in this forum area a while back and look for the No Materia / Weapons Upgrade challenge thread for more about this.

My fastest completion time is around the 35 hours, the second plays always get longer since there I actually spend time leveling up and such and getting to all the good stuff (because I dunno of it during the first round or I miss thing)
My ff7savefile is now 80 hours and getting longer each month or so whenever I'm bored enough to spend time leveling up.

The fastest Iv'e beaten was easily about 18 hours, skipping all sidequests including chocobos, weapons, kotr and other summons lke typoon/hades. I did that about the 4th time I beat the game through, which was also the final..

Actually i did get it wrong, i have just looked at one of my game saves and my strongest character cloud was level 39, barret was level 38 and Red XIII was 36. I did get KO'd alot and some of the bosses like demon gate took a very long time to beat.

The first time I played it I got through in a bout 60 hours or so, but there was one night I had to leave it running because I had to leave the house and I wasn't near a save point, so that added like 6 or 7 hours. I got through the game pretty easily, only dying once or twice. The first time I got a game over was when I fought the dragon thing in the Ice Cave. It's been so long I can't even remember most of the stuff that happens. But yeah when got to the end I beat Sephiroth on my first try, I couldn't believe it, even without Knights of the Round, which would have made it incredibly easier I 'spect. I'm about to start playing it again, I CAN'T WAIT! :lol :D :)

Mmmm, I think about 65 hours. But I always love to spend time breeding the chocobos. :)

25-26 hours. Something like that. And it was completely by mistake.

I was trying to show my friend the little vignette after the credits with Red XIII. He had beaten it but never stuck around to watch the credits. So, I was at the end (going into the northern crater) and I thought Sephiroth would slaughter me. Nope. And by the time the credits were done rolling, he had gone home. I'm not sure what my levels were, but they couldn't have been that high.

I don't think NanakiXIII was very far off when he said the cutscenes were about 8 hours, I just think you might have taken "cutscene" as meaning fmv.

the fmvs alone are about 50 minutes long. there's about ten times as much time as that spent in the game where you have to just sit and hear a story or something like that where you're not in control.

so, I'd say nanakiXIII may have even underestimated it.

if i were really motivated, I guess I could download a trainer and place all my people at level 99 with perfect stats and see how long it takes to just steamroll through the game, but that's probably not going to happen.

Agent0042
03-13-2003, 06:01 PM
Hmm, well, I guess if that's what you mean by "cutscenes," then I guess maybe that's true. When I see "cutscene," I usually think FMV. Anyway, one of my strategies was specifically to avoid that, by getting the dialogue off the screen as fast as possible. You know, basically just confirming and moving on to the next bit ASAP.
