Piano arrangements of popular Disney songs in the style of Chopin. It's an excellent album, you'll enjoy it if you also liked Nakazono's Chopin de Ghibli pieces. Credit goes to sunleth (http://community.livejournal.com/7music/48602.html) for the original rip.

LOL!!!! Hans Zimmer filtered through the sensibilities of Frederic Chopin... This is the one and only time I have ever enjoyed a note of music from those miserable POTC scores. Somehow the arranger has taken the cheap, tacky, on-the-face-of-it cliched neo-classical chord progressions and distilled it into a really glorious piece that makes me think less of Remote Control and more of Michael Nyman writing "The Piano" with Chopin looking over his shoulder and making "corrections" to his manuscript! I thought it impossible for a sow's ear to actually become a silk purse, but here it is, folks - Pirates Of The Carribean sounding atmospheric, mature, and musical.

Thank you, Firestorm & Sunleth, whoever you may be, for your efforts.

And, as for the rest of it... just glorious, simply magnificent. Wonderful, playful arrangements (some of them seem to be genuinely channeling Chopin's technique, whereas others are clearly based upon some of Chopin's actual compositions - notably, the Minute Waltz receiving a breathtaking change of clothes and transmogrifying into Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!,) superlative performance from the stunning Ms Nakazono, and a massively fun selection.

Thank you, Japan, for having this much class when the rest of the world has more-or-less abandoned it.

Hah, really? The PotC symphonic suite is probably one of my favorite movie scores. That's why I enjoyed the He's a Pirate piano arrangement in this album so much. Ah well, to each her own. It's been a very long time since I touched the piano. I recognize similarities between track 2 of Chopin de Ghibli and a piece from his piano works I performed many years back, but I can't pinpoint any others...

Or, indeed, each to his own... ;)

As for the similarities, the Minute Waltz is the only one I have outright identified, mainly because I'm rather rusty with my Chopin... but I know there are more that are modelled on specific pieces but my dim and distant memory is not telling me what they are... Perhaps I should dig out my Chopin LPs... :)

Thanks for the link! Been looking all over for this and registered to express my thanks :D
Just discovered Nakazono-san by chance, and her creation is beautiful; who would've thought that Chopin goes well with Ghibli, and Disney! (aha rhyme~)
