For a Mac I'd suggest Switch.And if you're on Windows, install Lame MP3 (RareWares (http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php)) for either 32- or 64-bit for the codec and then foobar2000 (foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/)) as your player/converter. Simply highlight any tracks in your playlist, right-click, select convert, click the ellipses (...) if needed, click output format and select MP3 (LAME), then edit, set quality to your hearts desire, click ok, click back, modify destination as needed, click convert and sit back. :)

Replying to an old post further up, but: I suspect people got their lossless from the pressed promo Screen Archives Entertainment was selling (sealed, as I recall), many years ago when they used to sell promos and bootlegs. They have since cleaned up that practice.

That's where I got mine, and still have it today.


I also have a CD-R of alternate and un-used "Mulan" cues, running 29 tracks; 60:28 (it came with no tracklist, but I made one by comparring the tracks to the promo). This one is also lossless.


If we ever get a complete score, from Intrada (their almsot exclusively Disney for releases, according to LLLR), with the complete score, un-used cues, alternates, song, it would be 2CD's. Assuming Rachel Portman didn't record anything or do any demos (as she was hired first).

I'm sad to report that the lossless version currently active in this thread is compromised. Examining the tracks in Audition, the following tracks cut off at 15kHz: 9-11, 13-18, 20, 21, and 25-31. The rest, 1-8, 12, 19, 22-24, 32-36 are possibly lossless in that they at least appear to have the full spectrum frequency response of CD quality sound.

Interested to check out justin boggan's version. Hopefully Intrada will produce a version in the near future. This is definitely one of the finest of Goldsmith's later scores.

Freaky coincidence, I have my copy out for a fair listen, after years of owning it. When I have time in the next couple days I will test some of the tracks you mentioned.

And when I have a chance, I will try to get the tracklist for the alternates CD mentioned previously.

When testing with auCDTect not all of those tracks show as being lossy. Doesn't make sense that some lossy tracks would be mixed with lossless, but then again I believe this is a bootleg. There was a lossless FYC promo posted a while ago by Sanico which has some of the tracks in question and they do cross 15 kHz on those files...

Well, some of the tracks, like the overture, could be sourced from the commercial release... but that still doesn't account for all of the tracks that appear to be full quality, I don't think. It's definitely weird that there would be a mix.

EDIT: Here are screenshots of the spectral display in Audtion for two tracks. (I had converted the tracks into separate FLAC files to place onto my music player.)

I've tested tracks 9, 13, 20, 21, and 25 on my pressed copy. Results:

I see the same thing, but I'm wondering if it might have ben intentional. In comparrison to boots where the frequency range is missing, there is no long red line seperating the ranges. They appear to all be action cues where it looks like it was cut down to keep the orchestra from possibly disorting.
And it looks like track 25, for example, is a prime example: if you look, it's the same as the others, except for the special sound effects he uses in the score -- they are over the red line, and in red against the blue. It's like he tried to create a seperate range so the sound effects would stand out better.

Forgot: I guess all that is left to do is compare it to the tracks on the alternate boot. Which I should have up Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm trying to get it up, but EAC is giving me trouble in ripping in FLAC, instead of WAV. Have a nice user trying to help me out via PM.

If I can't get it cleared up, I will have it up later tonight in WAV.

You could always rip w/ EAC to WAV and then use foobar2000 or some other program to covert to FLAC after

It staggers me to look back and see that Disney only collaborated with Goldsmith once. I would've thought they knew quality when they heard it.
