Thanks to Sinus for starting this thing off when he posted links to the long lost 'Sink the Bismarck' track as well as 2 other pieces and to Number Five for his update on the aforementioned tracks.
This thread is an attempt to bring the complete movie soundtrack together after my attempts and Number Five's attempts had gone so far but not all the way, we are here to combine our efforts ... if any of you can help then we would appreciate that.

Here is the full movie tracklist and what we have so far:

I cannot help any further (I'll check the movie credits some time) I'm afraid but here is a response to the recent revelations :)

WOW! I'm SO happy to see this stuff finally coming out of the woodwork in better quality! I had a feeling that if I keep the flame alive long enough this might eventually happen. At the time I first posted these tracks on The Bits back in 2005, the lossy 192kbps was the very best I could find - and I even went directly to Mad Music Archive and Dr. Demento. I actually asked John Landis about these tracks in 2005 at a Blues Brothers DVD event and he said he did have the original audio masters somewhere (they were the ones that got played on Dr. Demento back in 1980) and he might try to include them on the next version. But I suspect that, from a studio perspective, actually releasing them on DVD or CD would probably be a costly licensing nightmare. Still, Number Five, if you ever complete your "Complete Blues Brothers" soundtrack, perhaps you could do an "unofficial" release online? In any case thanks to sinus for sending me the upgraded tracks and leading me here, and thanks to Number Five for posting better quality versions. The Blues Brothers legacy lives on!

Just to note, I don't believe that Stan Getz worked on the version of 'Ipanema' used in the film. Not that I am positive, mind you. And you accidentally left "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Kitty Wells off the list.

Also, "Anema E Core" can be found on the album "Aunt Camella's Italian Favorites, volume 2" ...not that I can find the album itself, mind you. :)

And finally, I have tracked down the source of several of the songs I have collected. A facebook page called "Basement Tapes" posted them up as samples or what-not when they were working on a special edition of the soundtrack that stalled due to rights issues. (Or at least, I believe that to be the case.) Let us all hope and pray that some more come to light!

Here's a link to the material I have collected: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! (http://www.multiupload.com/XH8QC3N0Q4) ...soon to be supplemented with blonde180246' material and whatever else we can scrounge up in this thread. Anything you have and can share will be appreciated.

And a reposting of what's currently in this folder:

And thanks to Sinus for getting the ball rolling. MY lazy ass might never have gotten around to it otherwise. :)

You can rest assured that Getz/Gilberto had absolutely nothing to do with the elevator music used in the film. It's muzak of the worst kind.

regarding hold on. i'm comin'
number five's version is superior. it sounds better and is longer! (extra seconds at the end) (is it from the original album? remastered, maybe?)
blonde's version shares an error i found in many files out there: a very slight pause at 1:45 with a strange error in the right channel. (is it from the best-of-album?)

i also have a version from the American Gangster soundtrack but it's compressed to death in a loudness-war-way. it's as short as the best-of-sam-&-dave version but omits the error.

Regarding "The Girl From Ipanema" track, I believe that same version was used as an homage in MALLRATS for the elevator scene where Brody has sex with Renee. Maybe someone could send a question to Kevin Smith via Twitter or Facebook and ask him about the track. He might remember something or have paperwork somewhere of who performs it. Both BB and Mallrats were Universal movies, so maybe it's something in their archive?

I know John Landis used the song in several of his films. I'm not sure if it always was the same version though. But it also shows up in Into the Night. He also repeated the music at the fancy restaurant of Blues Brothers in Trading Places.

I also did some research and found the following links.

The Basement Tapes seems to work since 7 years on the same thing you like to accomplish. The thread also links to their facebook page. ( Basement Tapes | Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Basement-Tapes/148366657724) ) I think there's a media player on their page as well as some relevant announcements. I'm not a facebook member, so I cannot tell.

And the list: Music in The Blues Brothers :: Blues Brothers Central (http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/movies/the-blues-brothers/music/)

Hope something helps. You two have a better oversight of your projects, so I cannot say if there's anything new for you.

For those needing them for their extended soundtrack, here are two songs I got recently. The first was taken from the "(Aunt Camella's) Italian Favorites Vol.2" CD. I put the proper data information about the song in the MP3 properties though, since it was originally a single from 1952. The John Lee Hooker song I recorded and cleaned up from the movie itself.

* Ezio Pinza - Anema E Core (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0Q6G2OLQ)
* John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom (Live) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LG71CK2T)

I also have the actual Wilhelm Steinberg and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra version of "Ride of the Valkyries". If anyone wants me to share that, I will. As a bonus track in my version of the soundtrack, I also added in the original version of John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" from 1961.

Sinus is definitely right in that Blonde's version of "Hold On, I'm Comin" has a sound flaw around 1:45, whereas Number Five's copy does not. Blonde's edition of the soundtrack is also missing the two needed extras: Sink The Bismark and Horst Wessel Lied, both of which are in Number Five's copy.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Blonde. Are you the same guy that shares soundtracks on my close friend's blog, Inferno Music Vault? If so, great to see you here and thanks for putting together the extended BB soundtrack. I had started collecting the songs for it a little while back and then came across your share here, which helped out immensely.

Cool, cool. Nice to know you liked my past contributions. I don't share everything I have with Michael. You name a soundtrack between 80 and 89, and I more than likely have it, either in officially released or extended editions. Working on the 1988 "D.O.A." soundtrack right now, though I missing one hard-to-find song.

Here you go folks. I finally found the Bossa Nova instrumental version of "The Girl From Ipanema". It was originally done by Jobim on his 1970 album, Tide. I made the vocal version a bonus track. Enjoy.
Antonio Carlos Jobim - The Girl From Ipanema (Instrumental) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y4NR4MBE)

BTW, would anyone like to have copies of three BB songs the group did in the Nov. 1978 episode of "Saturday Night Live"? They are "Soul Man", "(I Got Everything I Need) Almost" and "B Movie Box Car Blues". I put them as bonus tracks in my BB - Extended soundtrack.

Also of interest for soundtrack completists like myself, there is a unknown classical music piece that plays in the restaurant when the guys crash the place trying to get Mr. Fantastic to rejoin the group.

I actually have a compilation already made. I used the soundtrack cd, some downloaded songs for source music, took some source music from CD's (John Lee Hooker), and made a custom music mix for the mall chase scene with NO sound fx. My only issues have been finding Enema E Core, and the proper "Just the Way You Are" instrumental. Actually, if you want the proper elevator music from the Blues Brothers film, it is not the version you have listed here. I have what I believe to be the proper version. How has this compilation been going? I would be happy to upload anything to assist!

In regards to Number 5's search for Kitty Wells' version of "Your Cheating Heart," I found this on YouTube:

I think this is the version used in the movie and if so, should fill in that part of his soundtrack download.

Thanks, but the Kitty Wells song had been found awhile back. Unfortunately, that video (which is excellent for those that do not have the song yet) does not give any information. It is from her 1960 album, Kitty's Choice, and is track 12 from that record.

That looks like a best of their albums, not really anything from the movie. All I'm missing is the correct version of Horst Wessel Lied and of course the elevator muzak, which will be a while til that is found I'm sure. Everything else is a mix of high quality tracks and low quality rips from Basement Tapes' Soundcloud. I didn't use anything recorded from the movie, like God Music, mainly because I didn't need it and/or can't get it. If anyone would like this I can share it.

i created my own album of music from the movie a few year ago. it mimics much of what many of you have already listed. i've been looking to redo it with cleaner versions, and was hoping to get some of the tracks from your guys' collection. any chance of a re-up?

i have anema e core by ezio pinza, but it's in 128kbps...

We covered these in the first few posts. Anema e Core in 192kbps. The Girl from Ipanema was found to go with my Wayne's World project. We found more than we could have imagined but then the whole thing stopped and the thread drifted away with the tide ... it must be a year now. I find it strange that the work that was put together here with pieces that did debut here, the 14 studio recordings, Jailhouse Rock, Ride of the Valkyries, the 2 of 3 versions of The Old Landmark found their way elsewhere when we had all the pieces but everyone disappeared.
You've done a good job, potzorbie. There is room for improvement and missing pieces in yours that are floating around. It does need completion and closure

Not yet posted, I want it to be posted on the Inferno Music Vault but I don't know if and when that'll happen since my friend who runs it has been laying low since Megaupload was raided. I want it out there by the end of the year since it's the 20th anniversary. Whether it's posted here or there, there's still the issue of artwork which is done by Mr Ghostface ... it's just a case of watch this space

OMG, I'm really sorry guys, I've been so preoccupied with personal stuff as well as working on my coming soon stuff that I completely forgot about this. There is a lot to upload for this project, there's never been a real consensus on which tracks make the final version. 2 or 3 albums, a collection of rare studio recordings and some great bonus material were brought together, all appeared together here for the first time .... since I'm one of the editors of this collection, I can finish what should have been done 3 years ago and put it all together and post. I'm also gonna try and get someone to do the artwork so we can put this to bed once and for all ... stay tuned

wonderful news. also, check out these tracks https://soundcloud.com/basement-tapes/sets/blue-brothers-soundtrack-bonus if you haven't already so we can make sure that we have the best quality available.

I'd like to get my hands on the entirety of your collection so I will be looking forward to when you post next ;)

Yeah, we have the material from Soundcloud, thanks for reminding me it's still there. We have 3 of those songs on there from a separate source with a higher bitrate and it included the lost song 'Sink the Bismarck' ... from all material collected, I believe we have everything, every missing piece. I just have to weed through all the material til I have everything in its place. It'll be at least a 2 disc job, possible 3 discs to accompany bonus stock

I need feedback from you guys. I do have the God Music but it could not be isolated from background movement and additional dialogue, others tried, I tried and we couldn't do it so it's been extracted from the source so should I put the track in its film order place or use the extended version or the album version ... any thoughts?

It is my understanding that "God Music" is playing during the sermon at Triple Rock Church.
For me I prefer the extended version of "Old Landmark" with the sermon introduction (the one on Soundcloud). I honestly think it's the best way to go (I think it's actually longer than the Triple Rock Church scene in the movie as well)

Nice job on this. I just bought a used BB cd and noticed that it was out of order, so I was trying to find out how to reorder my rip when I cam across this amazing Labor-of-Love. Any chance this is also available in lossless. Just wondering. Again, thanks!

So, on which tracks do we hear Howard Shore?

?

Shore was of course the musical director of SNL in the seventies and IIRC had the idea for the name "Blues Brothers" but wasn't involved in the movie ...
