Apparently the one in FFIV is actually meant to be a crossdresser - pointless fact. :p

But yeah, I think it was just a little tradition Sakaguichi established with the earlier titles, with FFVI the last one to feature dancers in that role, although it's worth noting FFXI brought it back with some dancers in Upper Jeuno (but at least they serve a purpose, as part of the DNC advanced Job quest).

Not just FF games... but almost every other game they've done since the PS2 era... Pity, as the NES/SNES/PSX era of SE games were quite good.

I don't hate on Square Enix, I'm not saying things aren't as good since they merged but they get a lot of stick for everything negative that comes out.

Squaresoft was a good company, made some great and memorable games. Square Enix on the otherhand.... /shrugs
