For those who didn't know, Square Enix held a live stream of the upcoming MYTH - The Xenogears Orchestral Album (http://vgmdb.net/album/22515), that's arriving on February 23, 2011. I had captured a recording of the stream, but due to the spontaneity of the announcement (I only found out myself when it was already going on), I missed out on the first track "Dark Daybreak". It's also a pretty on-the-fly capture, so I had no time to calibrate for optimal volume. I did do some volume increases in post, however. Encoded at 224kbps mp3:

Tracklisting:

OMFG! Faster, faster u dumb internet connection... 2 more minutes... Damn man! Thank you!

[EDIT]

By now I'm almost at the end of this album and wanna say few things. It's orchestral, but not symphonic, orchestra is small, arrangements are simple, they lack depth and development, orchestrations are far from being great, yet I'm gonna say that I LOVE this thing. I look at it as on easy-listening kind of album, music to lay down and just relax. Tracks are full of simple, but honest emotions, they do not try to be something they are not. Also really like the sound of strings here. I expected something different, "bigger", much more symphonic, but... I really like what I've got:).

Hmm, I had hoped that it would be a more symphonic album also. Still, I can't wait to hear it. :D

I know I'll get it in the neck for people who think the sun shines out of Yasunori Mitsuda's arse, but I find his music lacks depth and development - so from that perspective, it works. Mitsuda's style is very suitable for games - where a certain mood is established and maintained, and where it is necessary to consider the need for constant looping. It is less suitable for symphonic development; though I note the album carefully avoids using the word "symphonic" and settles with the vaguer, less comitted "orchestral" - so this fits in nicely with my expectations. It's almost better not to have overly fluffy orchestrations getting in the way of what actually appeals to me about Mitsuda's music; the simplicity and emotional honesty (as you said).

It's not a symphony, and it's not pretending to be.

I don't know what gives you the impression of a small orchestra though; it sounds very decent sized to me - and most importantly, appropriate for the arrangements. The sound quality - understandable pinched due to the source - may be giving an inaccurate impression.
