Note: This is a re-up the real complete bootleg score of the 1990 cult classic, Troll 2, composed by Carlo Maria Cordio. This score in my opinion wasn't that bad given the nature of the film but don't let that fool you, the music is pretty bad nonetheless but it's a fun and unique experience if you've ever seen the film or know of its cult status. This was ripped from the DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track from the Bluray and does feature sound effects throughout most of the tracks but that shouldn't really detract from the listening experience too much since it's really the awful dialogue that sometimes leaked out into the other channels blending with the equally cheesy 90's synth score that make this a fun experience. This has been a dream of mine (yes, I do have some crazy dreams sometimes) to do for years and I present it here to everyone. Most importantly, this is for the TRUE FANS but I hope you all enjoy this!

This is not what I would consider a bootleg - a rip from a DVD. I don't know why people would consider it as such.

The Troll 2 Bluray is a highly prized item in my collection. It (along with several other films) was one of the main reasons I decided to upgrade to digital projection rather than getting suckered into buying a 3D TV since this is a film I always thought would be a fun experience in a packed auditorium but since it's probably never going to happen in my area I can just enjoy my own private screening right from the comfort of my own home. Nothing beats a real theatre experience but digital projection from home is a fun alternative to going out.

Back to the subject of Troll 2, I did finally do the screening I discussed above and it was definitely a fun experience. I had a friend who had heard of it but didn't want to watch it strictly for its reputation of being a bad movie in general who ended up liking it. It took a little coaxing but she finally gave in and admitted to really liking it. I will continue to spread the plague of Troll 2. For a film that tried so hard and came out so bad it truly is a unique experience unlike anything you will ever see again in film. Not to mention the 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track on the Bluray is surprisingly effective for its age. Not Friday the 13th (1980) effective but still pretty nice.

If you don't have the Bluray and call yourself a fan, buy yourself a Bluray player (which are relatively cheap right now), and scour the interwebs or a local store for the Bluray copy of this film because after having negative presentations on VHS and DVD, the Bluray was a revelation.

New link up! Also, after a quick re-listen of this last night the SFX is worse than I remembered but honestly I think it plays to this release's advantage since it's the inane dialogue in conjunction with the horrendous music that gives the film its distinct charm. Hope everyone enjoys!

Troll 2 was one of the main reasons? What were the others? Zardoz, Xanadu, the end credits of Howling II, and Deathstalker 2?

At the time it was Troll 2 because it was around the time of Best Worst Movie and with the hype it was drumming up, it allowed me the chance to finally catch this film on a format that wasn't VHS or DVD. The VHS was cropped but in full frame, the DVD was full frame cropped into widescreen and I honestly didn't expect much more than a simple upmix of the DVD for the Bluray but Fox really blew me away in every department but the special features. It actually inspired me to want to hold private screenings of this movie for my friends (a.k.a. the uninitiated) so that's why I jumped on the digital projection bandwagon. Unfortunately, perhaps I explained the film a little too honestly to my friends to drum up enough interest to hold said private screenings (or perhaps my brother warned them) but either way, each time was a fantastic experience even if it was just me watching it alone. Of course, audience reactions would've enhanced the experience but beggars can't be choosers. Too bad we don't have a specialty theatre around that shows movies like this. All we get is Rocky Horror Picture Show and despite the hype surrounding that, I still haven't seen either the movie or interactive stage play. Although, it's not from lack of trying in regards to the stage play but I just have no desire to see the movie. It's profane and sacrilege to speak such blasphemy given my openly admitted passion for low budget/B movie/cult classics, I know, but some of those movies just don't tickle my fancy. Nothing against Transylvanian transvestites or anything, it's just not my bag, baby. Okay, you've convinced me. I'll watch it...eventually. ;)

Of course, perhaps I'm exaggerating a bit when I said I upgraded SOLELY for Troll 2 but it was a contributing factor. I also wanted to screen the Friday the 13th uncut Bluray which looked absolutely fantastic (albeit cropped on all 4 four corners) in its boosted 1080p resolution and sounded far better than a film of its origins should have any right to. The story regarding Harry Manfredini's score is legendary history now but just from how crisp, clear and sharp (if you can pardon the pun) the score sounded in its 5.1 upmix, I knew the masters had to exist somewhere despite the insistence for years that they were lost. NO 5.1 upmix from a MONO SOURCE can sound THAT good without some of the individual elements being accessible. There was just no way. Then LaLaLand graced us with the ultimate treat to the fans that had been shit on by Paramount in regards to the franchise for years: a boxset featuring the complete scores of the first 6 films (5 from the new 5.1 remixes and 1 from the original masters that we already knew existed but could never imagine they could be cleaned up so well) with killer packaging design and a detailed and informative booklet for the 6 scores to boot. Too bad it was only limited to 1,300 copies because I'd have loved to see that score get wider appeal than it did. It had a great hype building up to its release and once it was released, it was almost immediately sold out then the hype just died down. Despite how many fans wanted it and got it, I'm appalled even now at the low amount of reviews for it. Friday the 13th 1, 2 & 6 are easily reviewable as they are the only scores of the set to not feature repeated material that made parts 3, 4 and 5 almost a task to finish. Oh well, I'm just happy that it's finally here.

Now that I'm done geeking out, I can say what I was trying to say before I got lost in my thoughts: pretty much every Bluray/movie I've bought/illegally downloaded since April of 2012 gets streamed through my PS3 to my receiver that transmits the images to the projector so with that amount of resources, it didn't take long for Troll 2 to exit my mind and more (sometimes new and better) films to get the chance to have their own private screening in my little compact theatre. I always complained during my moviegoing experiences that sometimes it's the audience that really kills a movie for me. Perhaps that's why I don't go to the movies anymore. Bring Troll 2 to a theatre near me and the theatre owners will beg me to leave, haha. Very few out here that I can find understands the value of a truly terrible movie. Even more can't seem to understand the value of a truly terrible movie that think it's good. Troll 2 is the ultimate definition of that. It tries so hard to be something good but it has the recipe for a bad film right from the get-go: NOT a continuation of the original film it's supposed to be following up, it features an all Italian crew with American actors, a badly translated script that even the cast members don't seem to understand, poor direction, a cheesy as cheesy can get score, noticeably limited costumes, a child star more annoying than Dakota Fanning in War of the Worlds, etc. Don't think those points make it unwatchable. There are several high points that more than make up for the experience which include: terrible dialogue that just sounds so unnatural and horribly enunciated that it's guaranteed a few belly laughs, a memorable score (you can't say if you're reading this now that you're not at least thinking of that cheesy synth theme), a convincing witch antagonist that is not only smoking hot outside of her witch makeup but can do some pretty wild things with her eyes while exhibiting the most overacted facial expressions I've ever seen in any film to this date, the "trolls" talk (the mechanics behind that feat still manage to garner a few belly laughs from me), the effects when the chick is changing into a plant aren't all that bad, the secret weapon to destroy the "trolls" (notice the film is called Troll 2 but interestingly there are no trolls, only goblins; DOUBLE DECKER BOLOGNA SANDWICH!), the costumes that later got re-used in another far more terrible fantasy film, etc. etc. See, the high points definitely outweigh the low points if, of course, this type of moviegoing experience is your thing.

I assure you that my tastes far transcend Troll 2, it's just this film has been a pretty stable connection in my life so therefore it's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. It makes me nostalgic for early 90's HBO/Cinemax before TV became what it is now: *insert opinion here.*

As far as the Troll 2 score goes, I hope someone can garner up the testicular fortitude required to give this score the proper release it needs if only to quench the fan's thirsts for it.

Troll 2 has officially been announced on Lunaris Records' website. I've already placed my preorder as this is an album that I NEED in my collection. When orders officially go up on 1/12 an LP/CD bundle might be available. The record is $30ish and the CD is $14.95 plus shipping costs. I'll most definitely be posting a 96/24 vinyl rip as soon as I receive it. However I genuinely expect true fans to actually buy it for themselves. The packaging and LP variants look pretty neat. From the SoundCloud rips, it sounds like it's going to be an amazing release. I get goosebumps when I hear them. Stay posted!

Rest assured I haven't forgotten about you, my children. Between my impromptu trip to Louisiana for the production of a highly-anticipated film and unexpected life troubles, I admittedly have not had the time to rip the LP yet. I do not currently own a CD drive to rip it (an unheard of thing in this day and age, I know) so I cannot rip the CD that came with the LP. Give me a couple more weeks and I should have some free time to rip it and upload it. Thanks for your patience!
