I'm adding the artwork disc by disc. They are around 10-20 MB each. If it helps I can post later all the artwork together in one link.

He was a unique composer with his own distinct style, and although he worked on more than ninety movies, his main activity were on the concert works outside of film music.
Probably his most well known composing for film was Ran. It is not included in this set, but I posted the soundtrack on the first hunt thread.

Here's the post - RAN (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/film-score-vgm-hunt-thread-40522/597.html#post1294950)

Many thanks Sanico for disc 7. I have CDs 1-6 (bought individually at HMV in Sendai, Japan, in 1991) and didnt know before there was a bonus disc. Takemitsu is one of my favourite composers and his haunting music for the film Ran, played brilliantly by the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, is a classic. There is also a fine exhaustive book The Music of Tōru Takemitsu by Peter Burt.

I don't know much Japanese cinema from the 60's and the 70's but I like Takemitsu's works, including his classical music for piano for instance. So I wanted to thank you for this post, this is definitely not middle-of-the-road film music if I may say so... Tnx a lot

Does anyone know about a piece of music composed by Takemitsu that was used in the soundtrack for Cosmos, and was titled "Inside the Heart of the Universe"? I have searched for years for the original recording of this piece, and have never found any trace of it. I suspect the piece may have been renamed for the Cosmos soundtrack.

All I know is that the piece on Cosmos is an excerpt of a longer composition, and that it was performed by the NHK Symphony Orchestra sometime prior to 1979.

You can listen to it here (http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/muvVivK82mw/). Anyone know where it is from?

After some digging, I think I have the answer to my own question. The music was from a Japanese TV documentary series aired in 1974 and 1975 titled in English "The Legacy for the Future."

The soundtrack to this documentary was released on CD in 1997 as "Mirai Eno Isan". It also appears in the collection "Complete Takemitsu Edition 5."

Does anyone have any idea where I could obtain either of these?
