Try Tim Follin's music (Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Follin)). He wrote for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, NES, Genesis, and SNES during a long, brilliant career--and his music is usually fast-paced with faux-guitar solos and sequenced arpeggios, which I think is what you're looking for.
