I don't mean to offend any you or Square, I thought that the mouth movements were shit, they could have least converted the mouth movements from Japanese to English.

I mean take at Tekken 4, the mouth movements for the english parts are fitted together prefectly, but I think they kind of got lazy when it got to that and thought that we should put up with that.

Who else found this annoying.

Actually, I didn't notice anything like that... I guess I didn't care if the mouthing fits the words... But at sometimes, it was kinda obvious that something was messed up with their mouths when they talked...

Well, as long I still can enjoy its story it doesn't really matter.

I thought that the mouth movements were shit, they could have least converted the mouth movements from Japanese to English.

If i'm the one who make the game, I'm also might do the same thing ^^ Change the mouth movement from the previous one wouldn't gonna be an easy and cheap task. Square has spend a lot of money, wets, and time to make their games and I think we should respect it, right?

I never even paid attention or noticed...

Edited to add, here's something I came across while reading an FAQ:

A lot of people complained the Suare cheated and didnt resynch the lips to the voices with the American releasewell, Im here to tell you the voices didnt match the lips that well in the Japanese version either.

I do se your point Maestro, but this is Square were talking about here, the ones who have created quality games for a while, and really I wouldn't have minded to wait for a while longer for them to get the mouth movements right.

I never knew that the mouth movements, were crap in the Japanese version? Interesting.

it was alright when i played it the first time....but after going through KH, the lip synch was obviously terrible.....so it was just the comparison i guess....

<font face="lucida calligraphy" size="2">Having everything perfect would be good, but I didn't think it detracted from the game too much... all the other details were pretty amazing so I just focused on those instead.

FF10 is an amazing game, and people have to point out little things.... lol

anyway, the only time it bugged me was when your on the shoopuf. yuna mouths "thank-you" to Tidus. it was so pathetic. it wasn't even close to "Thank-you".

Do you know how long that would take? Especially to synch it perfectly. I agree, it would've been nice, but it would've delayed the release for 1-1.5 months (seeing as to get perfect synching the lips have to curve in different ways, etc.)

Besides, what does it matter? As long as their lips aren't moving after they're done talking, its fine w/ me.

They actually change it to american mouths to most games so I definitely expected they would with this but they didnt. Kinda dissappointing but I didnt really care or notice that much.

If I was a Japanese Computer Games Manufacturer and I just made a game with voices where the mouths were made to fit Japanese words, I wouldn't go back and change it so that the mouths fitted English words. This is a 40 hour game we are talking about.

The scenes are acted out by actors aswell, so they would have to get those actors back in, teach them English and then make them do every single scene again in English. It would take a lot longer than 1-1.5 months in my oppinion. But as long as you can understand the words, what does it matter?

Some people are just too picky!

@hotwired: Why would they need to teach the actors english? They already speak the language? I don't know why you actually said that bit.

And CloudOwnage, most of the time when the voice has finished, the lips do keep on going. And I really wouldn't have minded to wait 1-1.5 months, or even longer. Like they say 'Good things come to those who wait'

The voice acting/lip-synching was probably the worst aspect of the game. Hedy Burress would sound horrible in her otherwise soft voice because she'd try to match the lips perfectly. Ack!

I never cared.

But on an old star fox game I had (don't know about the new ones) their mouth movement was so annying it jus looked like they were nibbling on food. . . . .or somthing

Well i think Square should have atleast have tried to change the lip-synch to english.

The whole point in graphics is to make the characters as humanly possible in your own nationality.

I found Kingdom hearts lip-synch perfect (Disney did a great game for once )

Really the worst kind of lip-synch was in the tomb raider seires.
Lara Croft with her swollen lips XD . The characters lip-synch was so bad it was funny.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">I've been playing the game for about 20-30 hours now, and that was one thing I did notice quite early on. However, I'm really not too bothered by it at all. Consider how long a game like Final Fantasy is; if they had to change all the mouth movements to fit the words being spoken, then it would take a long time to do that. Also consider that in Europe the game is translated into many different languages, so imagine them having to change the mouth movements for every language. That would take a very long time, and so really wouldn't be worth it. I don't let a minor thing like that ruin my enjoyment of the game. :p
