Okay, gang. I went searching all over Hell and highwater for some posts with links to "Outer Limits", and I gave up frustrated with this HORRIBLE search function (Can't anyone create a usable search program?).
So I decided to create this thread to post ALL the Outer Limits links HERE!!!! We will start with Harry Lupins second
season recordings, disc one!

Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: HL OL1.rar (http://hotfile.com/dl/102200016/4f2040f/HL_OL1.rar.html)

Thanks, William

I have been waiting forever for this!! I have the 2 commercial releases but I've been waiting for either DVD-ripped fan-made soundtracks or, well, any actual recording sessions that you may have acquired, william!! (hope! hope!)

Thanks, Izbot. I thought that there were a bunch of links on this site, but the crappy search program only shows me everything with the word "Limits" in it!
If nothing else, I will have to upload the whole bunch of OL stuff that I have, and place them here! I also have music from the new OL show.

Yeah I know about the search function. This is a *huge* site with *ginormous* threads packed with goodies but actually finding something here requires a free weekend and a case of beer.

That having been said, here's the first commercially released album (1993):

That would be GREAT! and Thanks, Izbot for that nice upload link. That was the Crescendo release. Sadly, I had 3 DAT tapes of ALL the music that Neil had from several episodes, and he CUT them all down to fit on one album!!!! :( I would LOVE to have posted all three DATs here, but they were stolen by a JERK back about 10-12 years ago!!! :(

any extra music that can be posted here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Since I have the first and second seasons on DVD, I am going to try and rip some of the music from them, using a dvd audio ripper program that one of the other members of this board had suggested. Let's see how it comes out!

What will be a first for the season 2 (I believe...). With the arrival of a new producer, everybody completely lost interest in the work of Harry Lubin. Rightly or wrongly ? It is what we'll soon discover! Thank you!

I found this awhile ago while a good friend of mine and myself were on a "mission" to find this music, and to prove that the music was indeed around to some, like Ford.
Anyway here it is and yes there is allot of it , maybe MV will do it sometime, Lukas acted like he was not interested.

anytime , I hope maybe one day MV over at La La Land will do this one, he did sound interested in the possibility and yes (in case of lurkers) I would buy a copy , like I said Lukas showed no interest in doing it.

Well, while he's thinking about working on that, perhaps he will also work on a nice 3 or 4 cd release of "One Step Beyond", while he's got access to Harry Lupin's amazing work. Would LOVE to get a clean copy of the two themes from that show. I have the record from the 1980's, but it was a poor quality record, and had pops and scratches when I first played it. I could run it through my DARTPRO program, but it makes it sound too muddy when you process that. Oh, well, wait and see.

thanks for this , how can theese be downloaded , as I have tried but saying i have to register.

I tried too but you cant , you can do it with your computer recorder or find someone who has good recording equipment. I just have the computer recorder on my computer, only problem with that is you have to pretty much monitor it , its very time consuming and you pick up every ping, ding and bump sound your computer makes.
I also think you have to be a recording company to register, but dont hold me to that.

another idea is to get someone who is good at making petitions, Im not, to send to MV but you probably have to just about promise him that you and the others who sign the petition will buy it.

Well, if you have Firefox (Mozilla), you can always use downloadhelper (it's a free app - just google for it). It's time-consuming, yes, but you don't have to use some computer recorder.

I've downloaded a few cues, and they have a bitrate of 128 kbps.

Actually, I just have "Audicity" installed in my computer. Its a totally free program, that works great, you can record in WAV format, or whatever you desire! Whatever you can play online, it will record! I also have soundblaster Wave Studio installed, which I can also record it with. I have recorded a bunch of files yesterday, most of which are used in "One step beyond" as well as Outer Limits.

Okay, I've been recording the music from that site (It's going to take ALONG time) with 80 tracks per, and THREE discs, it is slow going. However, I have heard some GREAT music from "One Step Beyond" and "Outer Limits" all mixed together. But I do recall that they had used some main themes from OSB on OL, so it seems to be six of one, and a half a dozen of the other!

On the BAD NEWS side, I tried that DVD audio extractor, and it extracted the music AND all of the talking from the second season of Outer Limits, sorry. I tried to see if I could fuss around with the settings, but the DVD audio track, while listed as 5.1 surround, seemed to have the music and the vocals/SFX melded together somehow. Strange. I will have to go back to the old Twilight Zone tracks that I downloaded from another site, and see what the programs were that this other guy
used. really came out nice.

Well, for the next two days, I should be able to get all the rest of Harry Lupin's music recorded from that site. If not, then next weekend, since everything is pretty much closed for Christmas, I will have alot of extra time for recording! I found alot of OL music in the "Mystery, crime drama" section as well! Sounds really great, and brings back alot of memories. Lucky thing that I have such a keen music sense, and I can ID most of the songs that were used in either OL or One Step Beyond. I will be seperating them into the two different threads at a later date! Should prove interesting!

A fellow Outer Limits fan and I have made MV and Lukas aware of it , they said (MV and Lukas) they did not know.

My personal thanks and appreciation go to MOONTREKKER for this find. I have uncovered ALOT of really great tracks from OSB and Outer Limits. These would have been totally lost, without your really fantastic detective work online! You should become an internet P.I., you would get alot of business! :)

Thanks again, Wiliam

What is Safari? It is like IE and Firefox? (Guess I could always Google it, hehehehehehe)

Gents,

Here's a link to Harry Lubin's second season Outer Limits theme tune, which I discovered years ago on a CD called Television's Greatest Hits. It's not the greatest quality and is mono - I think it was probably filched directly from the actual TV soundtrack - but it's better than nothing.

No, it is stereo! However, sad to say, that it is NOT the original. It is the theme from "One Step Beyond", which was used in OL season 2, but not as a main theme. This actually sounds like Neil Norman's version that is on one of his "Greatest hits" albums! Definately NOT Lubin! Sorry

William

Grubbuts

Perhaps it's not the original - could indeed be Neil Norman, I don't have the original CD to hand to check. Thought I'd post it anyway: a version of this music was used as the end theme for the second season of TOL. Perhaps you're thinking of the track often known as 'Fear' which is quite similar. From what I've read Lubin routinely re-used themes and incidental music for different shows - I think certain cues from One Step Beyond are said to turn up in the OL episode Keeper Of The Purple Twilight to name but one example. Anyway, enjoy!

Hey Folks,

There's is a SUPER easy way of downloading the Lubin music from that site, or any music for that matter. Got Real Player? Pick a track and play it. Then move the cursor to the bottom of the Current CD field, where the Play, Stop, title bar is. The "Download This Clip" pop up comes on. Click on it. It then sucks the music right to your hard drive as an MP3. I downloaded 16 tracks in less time than it took to write this out. You'll have to name the tracks yourself since Real names them PLAY - Current CD. But aside from that, you can get them lickety split. And the quality is better, cleaner, than I got through Audacity.

Hey,

I was able to download a ton of Harry Lubin's music from the site Moonie told us about (they have a wealth of great library cues). There's more Harry Lubin music on there, but mostly romance and other types of stuff. I'm also pretty sure there are One Step Beyond cues mixed in with the OL bits, but I can't really differentiate them. Anyway, here are the links. I also redid the cues WilliamTaylor posted because downloading them through Real Player seemed to come out better than Audacity. Let me know if you have any trouble.

I downloaded them all on 12th March to compare them to William's files (Not yet had time to do that). You'll probably find that sendspace deletes files after they have not been accessed for a certain number of days (Megaupload is 21 days for anonymous uploaders). Hey, no problem, I was just hoping for some new stuff. You're correct, Real player is clearer, and higher quality than Audacity. For some reason, Audacity has their default level stuck at 192, and I cannot see any way to adjust that up to 320. There are several other programs you can use to record and save audio at 320!

Here's an oddity that you may find interesting.
A soundtrack to the Joseph Stephano (never released) Outer Limits spin-off "The Unknown".
Now at first glance you may say this isn't the Outer Limits and you would be correct.
But if you listen to the tracks, you'll notice these all come from the episode "Forms of Things Unknown" starring David McCallum".

The Title track you may also recognize. It was later reused (without changing a single note) as the main title for the series "The Invaders" starring Roy Thinnes.

The Unknown [OST].rar (http://www.fileserve.com/file/hq49W4J/The Unknown [OST].rar)

P.S. These tracks came from a combo album called "A Name For Evil" which I've excluded since they didn't relate to the Outer Limits thread.
Enjoy

What is this BOLT you speak of?

I've never bothered with ebooks before (I don't have an ipad or similar ereader) and find scrolling through a book via my laptop lacks the "feel" of reading a book. The rarity of this book though coupled with it's supposed greatness as a source of information regarding The Outer Limits led me to my earlier question. Having only recently discovered this site and the many wonderful people out there in the internet ether who were willing to share information about TV and films, not to mention the wonderful music featured on the show/film, I thought I might see if any fellow Outer Limits fans knew of a shared copy of this book.

I happen to have both copies in my library, so I can tell you first hand.
The original book was designed as a thick paper back approximately 4" x 6" and scratchy paper.
It had some photos, mostly dark images, since the paper chosen was really bad and the info ended when the Outer Limits was coming out on VHS (yeah a long time ago I know).

The newer version was redone on large glossy pages (approximately 8" x 12" ) with a color front and back
(mostly blue, black and white).
The information was also updated, right up to the start of the New Outer Limits on Showtime.
Additonally, new photos (long presumed lost) appeared and were included in this version including Domenick Frontieri's music cue notes.
If you can find this version, go for it.
I found a copy on ebay years ago.
Definitiely a "keeper".

Well, the Outer Limits Comics were published between 1965 and 1969, and this is mostly kids-stuff. Dell Comics (not Gold Key, as stated before) just had the license to publish stories similar to those known from the television show, but quality-wise, they are not comparable. Besides, since The Outer Limits, like The Twilight Zone, was an anthology, Dell Comics wasn't bound by any writers guide or characters, or any background at all, so they could write what they wanted, they just had to create some weird stuff with aliens from outer space in it. The comics had their own writing staff, and they are fun to read - but don't expect too much from them. This definitely is something for the completist.

Did anybody notice that OL 017 is a dup of 001, and OL 018 is a dupe of 002 ?

Damn, I was hoping nobody would notice! LOL

The first 16 issues were released between Jan 1964 and Nov 1967, that makes about 4 issues per year. After that, Dell Comics didn't seem to have any interest to publish any new stories, for whatever reason. After a hiatus of 11 months, they reprinted #1 as Issue 17 in Oct. 1968. The final issue, which was a reprint of #2, was published in Oct. 1969, again after a one-year-hiatus. In both cases, they added "reprinted by public demand" on page 3 (right after the legal notices). Maybe they got fan letters to continue the series, but instead of producing new material they took the easy way out. A reason may have been that by 1968 the license for The Outer Limits ran out anyway, and they had no intent to buy the rights again.

I'm not sure if there was ever a part 2 to this particular upload, but at some point somebody had compiled the lion's share of the science fiction/fantasy/horror material on the Harry Lubin music page and posted it. That's what I downloaded (and lost) originally (but it's amazing that with bishty's upload somebody went through and identified the episodes this music comes from!). I would LOVE a re-upload of the SF/Fantasy/Horror Lubin compilations, as well (post #54, if I remember correctly).

Link for Outer Limits in post #110 is good, but page for One Step Beyond/Outer Limits will not load.

In fact both of the links in post 110 are now dead after less than a week. Hugefiles are now a host that I will no longer use.

Thanks soundtrekker for the re-ups.

Zippyfiles is a good host for files of less than 200 Mb.

Depositfiles is good for files around 1 Gb, but your are limited to no more than 50 files. You need an email address to register, but it can be fictitious.

Packupload is good for files between 200 Mb and 400 Mb, but uploads are freezing in the early stages and have been for a couple of weeks now.

It's becoming a struggle to find hosts that allow anonymous uploads.

I've considered Mega, but they insist on a valid email address as part of the registering process.

The version I have has this printing history:

First GNP/Crescendo edition / August 1998.
10 9 876 54321
ISBN 0-9665169-0-7

spetragl, is this the version you have? Or is there another, later version with added material? There seems to be yet another printing from 1999, which may contain more material.
In my version, there is a short chapter about the New Outer Limits on Showtime, but I can't find any Frontier music cue notes in it.

Anyway, I'm going to upload it shortly, stay tuned...

I caved in. I've been putting off buying the OL CD's. When I was out on ebay late last night, I found a seller selling the LLL 3CD version for $19.99 (same as the LLL site), new SS. Then I found the GNP CD for $12 free shipping new SS. For those prices, I had to buy them both. Now all I need to get is the DVD's (funny, I never watched the show much when I was younger 'cause the "control voice" at the beginning kinda bothered me!).

Many thanks to all the uploaders!

I've been hoping for that for years. The DVD sets have some authoring errors here and there, and a cleaned-up blu-ray set would be a dream come true. This is a classic show and it really, really deserves such a release!

Does anyone know if the original GNP Crescendo CD came with a booklet (not the Companion book)? I ordered a "brand new still sealed" cd off of ebay and the CD came with NO booklet (just a tray card) and the CD face was completely blank, no printing of any kind (fully playable silver CD with NO label at all!).

If it did come with a booklet, does anyone have any scans? Thanks.

ssosmcin
07-16-2013, 01:53 AM
I don't have any scans, but yes, the CD did come with a booklet and the CD itself had printing on it. You've been ripped off, my friend, and I'd take whatever steps you can to get a full refund. Then think about getting the much more recent 3 CD set is still available for $20 at places like Screen Archives. It has everything the GNP CD had, and more, and in much better sound. It;s missing Martin Sheen screaming in "Nightmare," but I don't think anyone misses that....

Maybe not. I just discovered that GNP Crescendo (although they no longer have this CD at their store) does sell CD-R's in place of their originals. This looks like a CD-R.

The CD has song text titles (not track 01, track 02 ...) and is fully playable but no printing on the CD itself and nothing else printed save a tray card and back cover - no booklet.

I did get the LLLCD set. I got both sets at the same time (you still need the GNP to get the sound effects library).

Still if anyone has any more info on the booklet please do share. Thanks.

I boiled down the eleven Lubin (Carlin Library) cds into a 2-CD Outer Limits compilation. Used actual Carlin cds and some mp3 downloads. Cues arranged according to first appearance in the season (by episode). Except for a couple instances, I didnt reuse the same cues to recreate entire episodes since it would be redundant.

I edited some cues - "edit" means it's partial (the relevant part of a longer cue). Some cues I left complete even if they ran longer.
"edit" plus a number means the entire cue was used in the series but in separate parts (part 1 of cue = edit #1).
There were often mono and stereo versions, and I chose mono as that's what was originally used. If the exact cue wasnt there, but a very similar cue was, I subbed that in.
Original cue names (aside my edit notes) are from the Carlin cds.

I know this is alot of work assembling tracks and cues for any one particular show.

Unfortunately I'm still missing quite a bit of material, but this helps.

What an amazing discovery this thread is!! I've always liked the 2nd season music of TOL. While the 2nd season of the show was something of a let down from the 1st, the score, if not Frontiere, was still evocotave and mysterious and there were Harlan Ellison's two great episodes, without which we might never have had the Terminator movies.

The one thing that seems to be missing from your great collection (and it might be there somewhere and I've missed it) if the 2nd season theme itself? The theme is on the cd Television's Greatest Hits Volume II, mislabeled as Frontiere's theme. I've managed to convert it into a Windows Media File format and have uploaded it here:

https://mega.co.nz/#!RYJxxQBS!oNtWP0-DzrICXqy2-1-tK6Bi1Er-ypZqnJn9_VXF2Q8

I've given up on trying to convert it to an mp3. The free converter I downloaded via CNET was so loaded with malware, including Conduit, that I've decided to leave this to someone who knows what they're doing. So if this theme is indeed missing from the collection above, and if anyone wants to convert my file into something someone here can actually use, please do!

Thank you all for this wonderful collection!!!

The one thing that seems to be missing from your great collection (and it might be there somewhere and I've missed it)

oh, there's ALOT missing (ie Behold Eck is very underrepresented). I only included the relevant Carlin production library tracks. The End Credits cue ("Supernatural") is now listed separately in the download.
The track you uploaded from TVs Greatest V2 sounds like a re-recording of the "End Credits" theme, not the Season Two opening theme which is actually a mishmash rather than a single cue.

Anyway, glad the music has reached another enthusiast. I knew there must be a library since cues were used in "Dracula vs. Frankenstein"(1971), but I was stunned to actually find it, especially after the soundtrack "experts" (including music labels) would claim the music was lost, etc. I only wish we could find all Season Two music.
LaLaLand said that more Season One music that was actually composed for "Stoney Burke" is available, but no label has pursued it.

I'm listening to Demon with a Glass Hand right now. It's taking me back into another time and place. What fun!!

The amount of work that went into creating this just boggles my imagination. I can't even get the theme converted into a usable format (tho' I will check into Format Factory - thanks!).

I have seen several projects here that are obviously simply and purely labours of love. And there's not a single doubt in my mind that this is a work in progress, that someday you'll find that Stoney Burke music and edit it in here, as well as who knows what else, until by the time someone does come out with an official soundtrack, yours will just be so much more comprehensive (and if it's LaLaLand, so much better sounding) that the official version will be a real disappointment. Thank you for sharing your passion with the rest of us. So truly appreciated!

sadsack

I wasnt trying to reconstruct each episode, and usually only uploaded a cue once (to avoid redundancy), but you can theoretically find more music for a given episode by looking into the previous episodes (ie to make the Ellison episodes more complete).

I dont have an eidetic memory so I knew I couldnt sort out the music when I found it. After a couple years of playing it, I got a grasp where the cues were (and was also sick of hearing non-OL cues). So I finally started re-watching the episodes to sort the cues. I'd call it more a labor of selfishness, but of course it would be a waste not to share the results.

To clarify, my reference to Stoney Burke music is for Season One by Frontiere (not Seas.2 by Lubin). I imagine that will have to come from a retail release.

yes, post the runtime or scene description where you heard it. I dont think there are any bootlegs of his OL music, so the only other possibility of finding it would be on another film score or the RAT PATROL cd.

Thank you for all the time and energy you put into this project, Mr Sadsack!

Since there's no cover included, I've been scanning the net to try and find other Outer Limits images suitable for use as a cover. I'm torn between the standard black tv screen with "The Outer Limits" on the front and the episode where David McCallum is sporting a moon-sized cranium.

Tough decision!

Any suggestions out there?

I tried to reconstruct "Soldier" but even with all of the clips listed above, there are still large segments of Lubin's work missing.
(Frontieri's episodes tend to be easier to reconstruct since he reuses stock tracks).
I also tried to reconstruct "Demon" but that episode is even worse; less material available.
Both episodes are stuck at 50% complete.

Does anybody know of any additional material that might be available?

sadsack
04-09-2014, 09:36 PM
In "Soldier" I could not find the exact music for the scene where Quarlo goes berserk in his padded cell; and the scenes from the gun store to when Abbey takes the phone off the hook. I chose the most similar cues available - there are many variations of his melodies.
Sometimes there are two versions of a cue in the library - a mono and stereo. The show used mono, so that was my first choice when picking out the cues.
In general I wasnt trying to reconstruct episodes since the cues were reused so many times, but I was hoping some could be cobbled together.

I have another, more complete version of this book, if someone is interested. It's also in pdf format, but much bigger (825 MB!), and, what's more interesting, it has 8 more pages, which were missing in my earlier upload.

The missing 8 pages are
- the back of the book (photo collage, plus short description of the book)
- page I (an additional portrait of one of the aliens)
- pages II and III (with excerpts from several reviews of genre magazines for this book)
- page IV (yet another alien, together with a list of other publications by David J. Schow)
- page 397 (blank)
- page 398 (an ad for the Outer Limits GNP soundtrack GNPD 8032)
- page 399 (a picture of the author, David J. Schow, plus a "final note from the author" below)

I've uploaded the 8 pages (a rar file, containing the jpg's):
https://mega.co.nz/#!LYgCQBab!IHyXYR8WFwQ--kgyS3J77x-fCdzFqDBXQmq6XwUInjE

Should anyone be interested in the big 825 MB pdf file itself, let me know, and I'll make it available for a short time (meaning I will upload it on zippy, which is going to expire after a few weeks usually).

Alternatively, I can offer the same book as a 684 MB rar file, also containing the missing 8 pages. This file contains the jpg files and can easily be renamed to cbr, if you prefer that format!.

So if you request this, please let me know which format you want (pdf or rar/cbr).

Should anyone be interested in the big 825 MB pdf file itself, let me know, and I'll make it available for a short time (meaning I will upload it on zippy, which is going to expire after a few weeks usually).

Alternatively, I can offer the same book as a 684 MB rar file, also containing the missing 8 pages. This file contains the jpg files and can easily be renamed to cbr, if you prefer that format!.

So if you request this, please let me know which format you want (pdf or rar/cbr).

hello soundtrekker, please send me the link for the complete 825 MB pdf file of The Outer Limits Companion by David J. Schow
thank you very much

Hello soundtrekker: Is any of the original OUTER LIMITS music links availble ? Re-Upload possible ?

---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------

Williamtaylor1969, the original up-loader, was banned in 2014, he can't be contacted anymore.

If you was referring to me, no, I wasn't contacted yet. If there is still interest, I might do a re-upload...

Hello: Is the larger edition of this link still still available Re-Upload possible ?

PDF or rar/cbr Any link for reading this larger book is appreciated
