After seeing the Legend of Zelda guitar super best Soundtrack I found out that there is indeed a Super Mario series for guitar collection also. If anyone can point me in the right direction to find the soundtrack that comes with this book it would be most appreciated.

When is says Super Mario Bros.2 does it mean USA or the Japanese one.

QuagsireQing

The Japanese one didn't have any new music, so it's the international one.

For Tracks 27 and 28, it's not "対専用"

but rather "対戦用"

So the translation is closer to "Versus"

I have the U.S. Version of the book, they mean the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2, because it's listed as "The Lost Levels" in the book. Apparently the end music was different from the 1st one.

I have returned. After throwing down $50 on eBay I have the Super Mario Series For Guitar CD. I have included it AND the Zelda CD in FLAC and MP3 (160) form with titles/tags in English. The U.S. books are identical, just in English with no CDs. Just my way of saying thanks for providing the original Zelda FLACs!

I just purchased this book online. The CD is only available in the Japanese version of the book, which sells for like $70. Although the CD would be nice, I guess it's not necessary if we know what the songs sound like already. I really like video game music and I like to transcribe music to guitar using a program to slow down music. Therefore, I can listen to the music at a very slow pace, in order to make out all the notes, and transcribe them. This program is especially handy for really fast parts that are very prevalent in some video game music. One example are the arpeggios on the Super Mario World song titled Sub Castle. I was able to transcribe these and then run them on another program for guitar speed training, which will play back what I have put in and increment in tempo. Then, I can play along at a certain tempo and just increment the tempo once I am comfortable with the quality of the playing. It's hard to explain, but I have added many different licks and would like to add licks from Super Mario games and Mega Man 1-6 and 9-10. If anybody can recommend some good fast licks from video game music I would appreciate it.

I bought the Zelda book at a Guitar Center earlier this summer. It's pretty cool, although it's more intended for fingerstyle guitar, which isn't my forte. Maybe I'll check out the Mario book one of these days. I mostly play rock and metal, and for that Guitar Pro is an excellent program. With so many MIDI files from classic 8 and 16-bit games available, you can import and transcribe the notes to guitar tablature. And for everything else, Audacity is great for slowing down tricky sections to transcribe by ear.

sparkman0811: Have you tried playing any Castlevania tunes? There's a lot of tricky pedal points and arpeggios in those games that makes for great fun on guitar! I personally recommend Castlevania 2 and 3, but most of them have awesome tunes to jam to. Songs like Bloody Tears, Clockwork, Dwelling of Doom and Heart of Fire have some really sweet riffs. And if you really like petal points and arpeggios, then you can't go wrong with here! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9mQlYkpc7k">this song</a> from Virtual-On! There's also a guitar arranged version <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMxDb6Z5KSE)

Great, I really appreciate all the recommendations you've given me. I have Castlevania I soundtrack but I know the other ones have great music, as well. The game itself is great, too. You know what other song sounds great, and I am sure it was written for guitar? The first level on Contra I. Man, that's a great song. I will check out all the links you provided. I got the Super Mario Books and, like you said, they are more for finger-style guitar, which I enjoy. However, I would only recommend the piano book, since it seems most of the Mario music was written for that instrument. There is a lot of great classical music you should check out too, by the way. Some guitarists include Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega, and Andres Segovia. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Contra level 1 FTW! Thanks for the recommendations. I've never really looked into classical music much, but I'll definitely give some of those guitarists a listen.
