Hi. I need help. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. So I feel it's about time someone posted a thread to address this matter, as I haven't seen one yet. Can anyone post gamerips in wav, alac, or mp3? i have seen many rips here in ogg & some in mp3. i'd like more in mp3 (which I believe is more likely compared to alac & wav, which is ok) because:
1. they can be put in itunes/ipod
2. haven't found a free ogg to wav or alac converter except for AVS, which is annoying because since it is free, there is a voiceover every few seconds ( a woman saying "AVS converter") - once before the song plays & once it plays, every few seconds & its annoying as it gets in the way & is distracting.

I don't have any requests at this time. But if anyone does, feel free to post here. Hopefully a ripper will fill it or you can just ask them to rip it here or in one of their threads. if the download link is not posted here, can someone please provide a link to the page where the request is filled so that the people who requested it & can download it from wherever the link is located?

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT TIME, EXPERIENCE, AND THAT YOUR REQUESTS, AS WELL AS MINE, ARE FILLED IN MP3 IF NOT IN THE OTHER 2 FORMATS.

THANKS!

What ho, mate!

Just so you know, ALAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, any of those could be converted to MP3.

And it's almost best to do it that way, since you're most likely to get the highest quality MP3 encode from the above formats; all of them, I believe, are higher in quality than MP3, though your ears may not tell the difference!

One more thing. (WHACK! like in Jackie Chan Adventures)

OGG is a lossy format, let alone the best off all the lossy formats, I believe. Converting OGG to lossless WAV, FLAC, and ALAC won't do you any good, and needlessly increase the file size.

A good, and free, converter is Foobar2000. Foobar can play almost every audio format available, and if Foobar can play it, it can convert it.

One MORE thing. (WHACK!)

WAV, a lossless format, can be played on iPods. You won't have album art for such files, and the file will be ridiculously huge, but the file will be lossless.

ALAC is the lossless format MEANT for iPods/iTunes. Just convert to it using iTunes, or the even better dbPoweramp, and BAM!....lossless files for your iPod, WITH album art!

Hope this helps you in some way!

I say we turn this into an "ALAC mirrors" thread. Anybody else want to?

Arutoa: Not sure what u mean by mirrors. Are you saying you want this thread to be entirely ALAC? And what do you want this thread to be about if your vote is agreed upon? As long as I can get music onto my ipod in lossless format (WAV or ALAC), I'm happy & have nothing to complain about. As you can read above, that was the purpose of creating this thread in the 1st place. Once I know what u mean by mirrors, I'll be happy to let u know whether I side with u or not. Please dont be offended if I do not. Thank you.

Mach Five: Yes I know all that. Idk how to convert to ALAC using Itunes. And can I even do that with a ogg file? I doubt it because ogg files won't even go in itunes. I dloaded Arkham & Ultimate Alliance. Both were oggs & would not go into itunes. I see no other possible way to convert to ALAC using itunes. If there is a way, please provide a step by step guide so I know what to do. Thank you.

Ryoukai da!

This is what you do, mate:

1] The OGG files you have, convert them to WAV format using any converter of your choice.

2] Once converted to WAV, have iTunes recognize them, so they'll be shown in iTunes.

3] Now right-click any file you want to convert; a menu should pop-up. One of the options should be "Create Apple Lossless Version". Apple Lossless is ALAC, of course.

4] Your new ALAC file will be where your music is usually found, in a folder called "Unknown Artist," or something similar.

And that's that! Let me know if everything works out!

Well I know WAV (which is lossless as well) can be recognized by itunes & be played on an ipod as I have several WAV files on there right now. The problem is there aren't any good converters out there for free. I tried AVS. It converts but you hear a stupid annoying "AVS Converter" during play & it gets in the way. DVD VideoSoft is the best free converter I know of but sad this is it doesnt convert OGGs.

If you know a good converter for free that I can use easily. One that would convert OGG to WAV in LOSSLESS format without any voiceovers during playback of the file, let me know because I just cannot find one.

Really, get foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/). No need for that AVS crap, foobar can pretty much do it all with ease, for free, no voiceover. You simply highlight what you want, right click and it'll bring up a menu, go to convert, pick your format (you can customize encoding parameters here for different formats, but WAV is just a click and go), and you've got it.

hopefully the free foobar isnt a trial lol. thanks a lot!

---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:56 PM ----------

and i wonder if u have to do it one file at a time or can u do a complete folder at once? say u download a gamerip from this site & it is in OGG format. lets say it's Ultimate Alliance & Arkham Asylum. Can u convert them all to WAV at once or do u have 2 do one folder at a time or one file at a time? not a big deal but it'd be cool & much faster if more files can be converted at once but i never used this before so i dont know what the limit is as to how many files or folders u can convert at once.

I'm assuming you already grabbed foobar and tried, but to answer your questions, no the free version is not a trial, it is the real thing, and yes you can convert any number at once. I just used it to convert 85 tracks the other day simply by highlighting them all and telling it to convert.

yeah i just got it & it worked. thanks. i did run into a problem however with the Arkham Asylum rip. Not all the tracks converted & therefore I wasn't able to put them in my ipod. I googled it & it said it should've wroked. No explanation as to why it didn't. Ultimate Alliance went through ok though. Weird.

If you want to upload the files you want converted I'll get them and see if I can do it for you.

i would have done that by now & asked someone to convert them. thing is i have never uploaded files so idk how. i know RS, MU, etc sites have Premium accounts which allow certain # of storage or gigs. like u can upload so & so amount of gigs. but i do not have the $ to pay for that right now. so far as i know, uploading cannot be done since i dont see or know of anyway to do it for free & very easily.

OMG, you can upload to any file-hosting site for free! Surely there`re some limitations for non-users or free accounts (for example you can`t upload password-protected files or the ones bigger than 1 GB if you don`t pay for an account on Megaupload) BUT you can still upload there without even registering, you just won`t be able to manage uploaded files then (for example to delete an unneeded one when you wish). If you want so you can always make a free account as all such sites including RS and MU have not only premium but also free accounts!
But I don`t think that it`s necessary for you to upload the files, since you got them here you can simply link nothingtosay to specific thread on FFShrine and that`s it!

JBTND - lol a bit confusing but i think i got it....thanks. ill ask if thats ok since hes helping me. i dont see why it wouldnt but its nice to ask before doing anything.

nothingtosay says "if you want to upload the files you want converted I'll get them and see if I can do it for you."

to nothingtosay: JBTND made a good suggestion to me. he said "since you got them here you can simply link nothingtosay to specific thread on FFShrine and that`s it!". i thought since you're helping me, i'd ask & see if you're ok with that. r u? if so, should i PM the links 2 u?

Yeah, of course I'll do it. And uploading is pretty easy, here's what I suggest you do when the need arises. My personal preference is MultiUpload (www.multiupload.com), just make a quick free account and it'll keep track of your uploads and you can even see how many times and from what countries people have downloaded your files. No cost and it uploads to several hosts so people can choose and your links stay alive longer.

I didn't see this in the main DL links area and thought it got deleted. I meant "uploading stuff we have in ALAC", but was tired and said mirrors.

Yeah it was there. Got moved to Requests. No problem with that.

"uploading stuff we have in ALAC" - 110% AGREED! ALAC seriously needs to be on here! So by mirrors, you mean when people upload stuff, they should have an mp3 mirror(s), FLAC mirrors(s), and an ALAC mirror(s)?

Nah, just "but was tired and said mirrors". Of course, having a thread where, say, people request/post things in ALAC and also request/post new things from the lossless thread in ALAC would be nice.

I'm working on it. Apple Lossless takes absolutely forever to convert on my computer and I have pretty slow upload. However!

As requested by phenomangel, these are pietastesgood's rips, originally posted here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/vgm-legacy-thread-64926/38.html#post1313071).

Resident Evil [PC] ALAC (http://www.multiupload.com/UXOWFZJLQG) - 153.86 MB
Disclaimer: pretty abysmal sound quality due to lousy source files in the game.

Resident Evil 2 [PC] ALAC
Part 1 (http://www.multiupload.com/WUSY1TN38M) - 277.55 MB
Part 2 (http://www.multiupload.com/LT6BXAY3CI) - 305.5 MB

Just search for a logiciel called file factory, it is free and can convert any audio file to mp3 without modifing it. Try it, it works very well.
