It would seem so according to this article talking about the possible ways to implement PS2 B/C.
Here's the quote from someone from SCEA.

“The industry’s best developers are ReMastering their best games. Prince of Persia, Shadow of Colossus, and ICO are just the beginning. When fans see what Konami’s doing to the Metal Gear series, and what Square’s doing with Final Fantasy, they’re going to be very happy.”

I'm stoked!! Also for the MG announcement!!
What do you think? What do you think will be included?

Not a bad find. This could actually be true.

I kind of hope so. I've been looking for a reason to play through X again. Trophies would definitely be that reason. If they do it, I hope they put out the international versions of whatever games they decide instead of the gimped versions we get here in the US.

Oh god... I hope this isn't true. Game developers should just focus on making new, fresher games... instead of going back and remastering/remaking/rebooting their older titles.

I can't imagine remastering taking that long and it would be cool to play through some older games with trophies up for grabs (like the GOW remaster) so pretty cool.

Announce this for some MegaTen games and I'll care.

Just a money making scheme. Offload 'updated' versions of the same game and let the mindless masses snap it up. Pass.

Or you know, it might let people who haven't played the games before get the chance to. Personally, I'm going to be getting the Team Ico collection when it comes out, simply because it has ICO in it, which I never found a copy of. It's extremely rare, and costs a hell of a lot on Amazon and other online retailers.

Besides "official updated versions of the same game" are also known as sequels in today's game market ;)

Then people can find emulated versions of them online to play on PC. Seems that all SE does now is remake/remaster etc old FF titles... and new game, they pass the development rights to another company (Double Helix for Front Mission Evolved is one) and produce it themselves. SE's day in the sun is coming to a end, if they can't come up with newer, more interesting titles instead of just "Oh, we need some money. Better remake FF w/e."

Of course it's worth more now... it's a PS2 title and some of them are worth lots now.

That's the thing, Hironobu Sakaguchi never wanted any sequels to the FF series or compilations etc. I guess after being fired from SE's board of directors and then quitting like he did, gave SE the green light to fuck things up.

Square's re-releasing the original Final Fantasy again? Seriously?

Well, considering the question the person was answering was geared towards PS2 remakes, I think it's safe to say it's either X, X-2, and/or XII that will be remastered, not remade

Not surprising.
