It is with a heavy heart that I mark the passing of the original Speed Racer, Tony Curtis.

What? You thought it was Emile Hirsch? Or Peter Fernandez? Or before that Katsuji Mori? Ah, but before that, there was Johnny Dark -- a 1954 movie starring Jamie Lee's dad. The plot has amazing similarities to the first episodes of Speed Racer, including a secret high power race car, a hero forbidden to race, as well as analogs for Speed, Trixie, Sparky and Pops.

In fact, in the movie, he actually kinda looks like Speed.

Was it the inspiration for Speed Racer? I don't know. But it's still pretty cool.

Here's to you, Mr. Curtis, you will be missed.

It's about Speed Racer, so it's an anime reference.
After all, the same argument could be made if it was in the general discussion list, (but Speed's an anime, so why isn't it there?)

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it,

I do apologize, I'm not being clear.
The target audience of my post is not western movie fans. They are very much aware of his career. The target of this post is specifically anime fans. That is to say, I am presenting something to Speed Racer fans to re-examine their show in a new light, as opposed to having Tony Curtis fans re-examine his. (Although they are free to do so, and I posted a link to this in a thread devoted more to western movie fans.)
While an argument could be made for its presence in either western or anime forums (or even the general discussion forum,) it is here because anime fans are the ones who I hope will get the most out of it.
If you find its presence here such an affront, you are of course free to request that an admin move it to whichever forum you feel is most appropriate.

And Blade Runner heavily influenced Bubblegum Crisis. Does that mean one should make a thread here and talk about the movie?

Must we do this on a R.I.P. thread? Really?

If the thread was about HOW Blade Runner influenced Bubblegum Crisis, then yes, I think it's appropriate. If you had bothered to read my note after the post you commented on, you might have understood what I was going for. Or perhaps you live in such a small box that you are unable to think beyond the tiny world you have chosen to seal yourself in.

But as I said, if you find this so offensive that you feel you most say so after your point has been raised by another and answered, then please, by all means, contact an admin and demand this thread be removed or deleted.

Clearly, I must exercise greater caution in selecting my threads and where they are posted. Now that I have a better sense of the thin skinned sensibilities of some members, I shall take more care in not treading on their delicate tootsies.

or you could simply say "my mistake, i should have put this western movie thread that was the basis of speed racer YEARS after in the movie discussion board instead of being an ass and try to prove something that doesnt exist".

Must we do this on a R.I.P. thread? Really?

death is not an excuse.
