What a surprisingly good "classic" score for a western movie. No synthezisers or absurd percussion overloads. Just plain good (real) orchestral music. It seems that animated movies have a tendency of becoming like the old hollywood: Very good music and a spirit of adventure and joy

I absolutely agree. I was completely shocked by just how good this score is. I didn't think for a second there would be a score for an animated film this year that not only was at the level of How To Train Your Dragon but absolutely blows it away. Wow. This score came out of left field. Zack Snyder needs to dump the ever so bland Tyler Bates and stick with this guy. This score humiliates most live-action scores these days. Great work by David Hirschfelder!

The Last Airbender? Meh. This is what a great fantasy score is ladies and gentleman.

So far this has been a remarkable year of music scores for animated movies. Not only for the ones mentioned earlier, but also for Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After (the best score of a Shrek film, in my opinion), and especially The legend of Silk Boy, which is the best suprise i have listened this year so far.

I haven't heard Legend of the Guardians, but i intend do so very soon, more now after so favorable opinions.
