This post is for Final Fantasy Related releases that are either exclusive to iTunes or that were improved (more like fixed). All of the iTunes are in their original format (AAC) and use their original compression (128 or 256). The audio is 1:1, meaning that no bytes were modified only the iTunes DRM or PTD (Personal Tracking Data) was removed from the file.

Why do it that way? Because it's the best quality that the audio is available (for some) and if you re-encode lossy to lossy (m4a to mp3) you always lose quality, so I want my realses to maintain 1:1 high quality. If people complain that uncompressed to lossy is bad (wav to mp3) just *imagine* what happens when you go from lossy to lossy.

Please Note: iTunes US store sells almost 100% AAC DRM free at 256. However the Japan store still sells the old 128 DRM (copy protected) files. The japanese store has not upgraded ANY of the iTunes releases to higher quality format from what I have been able to see. If you see that any have please let me know (or buy it and ask me how to clean it for a release w/o screwing it up to mp3).

Feel free to contribute to this, there is already another thread that does FF OST releases, this one is to focus on the *rare* and hard to find stuff like iTunes exclusives or promos etc.

Final Fantasy 1.2 (NES) OST iTunes USA (128 AAC) Ver 1 (2005)
SE first itunes release in 128 DRM format. This version is a new recording (i.e. not from CD master) and by the sounds of it a NES Emulator was used. Basically a mono mix...not very good.

After my remastering of the CD and itunes 256 DRM free came out, SE updated their files. Oddly (or not so oddly) this time they took the music directly from the All Sounds CD. They slighly modified the left/right channel panning so it's still stereo panned but not at 100% crap.

Final Fantasy IV (SNES) OST COMPLETE & RESTORED {VX} MP3 (VBR LAME) - Recorded directly from a real SNES (not emulated).
My release of the fully restored SNES OST in mp3 format. All songs correctly loop twice and are now complete. Some songs are just edited from the OST and some I had to record because they were either incomplete or missing.

QTFairUse6 2.5 (iTunes 128 DRM Lossless remover)
This is only for old DRM (copy protected) m4p files. The US store no longer uses this format, however iTunes Japan still does. This is fairly simple to use (though downgrading iTunes is not) and will strip the DRM + your personal data losslessly (w/o re-encoding) the m4p files. This requires older iTunes versions (latest is 7.02).

Try another browser, if it's not working w/ IE try FireFox (or vice versa). Both IE8 and FF 3.5.13 work fine for me.

megaupload limits the file size to 100mb and this file is 170mb so i'd have to split it etc. and they limit the time it is hosted (they delete it after so long) so I don't bother w/ them anymore.

Oddly I was also having the same problem, it seems it was the link. I modified it so it should work now give it a try.

Tried in Firefox and Chrome, was the same in both. Now it doesn't even load in FF but works fine in Chrome, weird stuff.
