Hey, I'm back once again with my next complete score. This time, it's Klaus Badelt's The Time Machine, 2002. Fortunately for us, the vast majority of the previously missing music from the original score can be found on the expanded score. Unfortunately, there were still some problems. Some of the tracks had the wrong titles. Some are mixed a bit differently in the movie. And ONE track has three different versions. Two songs have SFX (and they are very minimal). I give credit and a BIG thanks to whoever first uploaded the expanded score.

Comments and discussion are welcome. In fact, if you download this score, please leave a response (preferably longer than "thank you so much").

Just a question... you have "The Master" and "Time Machine Returns / Fight" labeled as composed by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer. If I may ask, where did you get that info? Not doubting you, I'm just curious

When I downloaded the original score from some site on the internet (I paid for it), the song that was named "Master of the Occult" was tagged with Hans Zimmer. I assumed it was right. It's not uncommon to see that, though. I'd read that even though Klaus Badelt was credited as composing the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Zimmer wrote a lot of it. He was later properly credited in Dead Man's Chest.

Very interesting man. I downloaded the expanded version thinking it was complete. Guess I was wrong. I like this though. Nice to add to the collection.

I LOVE the Eloi/Stone Language/Godspeed tracks. All so beautiful. Along with every other track in this score. This has to be one of the few scores on par with the Back to the Future Trilogy that has no bad tracks.

I actually like the track "Time Travel/Asteroid" (Eloi Theme) from the expanded version better than the album version or the complete score version. Even though it's labeled so oddly lol.

And for good measure. I did a little work and I took the album version of Eloi, Stone Language, and Godspeed. Using the main chorus parts with the chantings or whatever you want to call them and combined them to flow as one long 4 minute track. Let me know what ya think.

Hah, yeah. I don't have to download that mix you put together; I did it once myself, but thanks! As for my opinion on your mix, I always enjoy mixes of similar themes all strung together from a movie. It is news to me, though, that the "Time Travel/Asteroid" track was different from the Eloi track. I would have included it as an alternate, if I'd known that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention; I might add it on to my complete score.

You're welcome to comment on my other threads--I've been looking for people to talk with about the work I've done.

Well it sounds different. But perhaps since I didn't buy the album I only downloaded it the quality wasn't up to par so it gave the effect of sounding different.

Should download my mix just to let me know if it's quality.

And yea do you have the complete scores with no sfx to all 3 Back to the Future movies? I could hand those to ya if ya want. All great pieces of music. Like I said. It's rare you find scores with no bad tracks.

Back To The Future and The Time Machine are one of those few.

I haven't gotten into Back to the Future yet, but I do know it has good music. Might any of Hans Zimmer's works be considered 100% awesome in your opinion? I did download your mix, and I think the transitions are a bit rough. You're welcome to post under a thread I've been thinking about starting for custom mixes of music, though.

YoYoBoy19
10-28-2010, 08:32 PM
Well on the transitions being rough I never quite liked my transition of Eloi into Stone Language track. I was thinking of going back and re-doing it.

And you could start the thread. I have a few Star Wars big long tracks I made for a short story I was writing. But I wouldn't have much else to contribute to that thread.

and for Hans Zimmer I'm going way out there and saying I LOVE his work in Renaissance Man. The music is just awesome.

So where did you get the extra 30 minutes of music that the 23-track version lacked? Was it from the commercial album? Or from a rip of the DVD?

06-06-2011, 07:29 PM
Well, first off, I have to say "THANKS", this is just GREAT! :) I can hear some of the DVD rips, like where he started the time machine for the first time, but you only hear the clock ticking faster and faster, and the WHOOOSH of the time machine, which really adds to the music, not distract from it. REALLY nice work, dude!
I really love this music, and your version only makes that much MUCH better!

Thanks again. This is a GREAT download, people. You had better grab it while the getting is good!

I think time machine is Badelts best score and i downloaded this rip out of curiosity and must say it is excellent...
i agree with what Williamtaylor1969 said about the minor SFX of the time machine that it added to the music more than distracted. This rip is a great listening and alot better than the expanded version.
It seems there is a better flow in the tracks here and when listening to this rip, i remember why i loved this score so much watching the movie in the theatre...
Thanks alot for this one and i will have a look-out for your other work...

Good grief people! I had no idea so many people could post under one of my threads in a single day. Here's the story: I got the expanded version of the score from the Soundtrack Zone (I believe a member on here is the purveyor of that web site). After that, I filled in the gaps with DVD audio. Several tracks such as "The Time Machine" and "Morlock Attack" are edited to some extent in the film. I had to provide those edits. The link that babydoll posted is the same one that I started with, which, you should be able to figure it out, is not actually the complete score. Most of the tracks from the expanded version were copied and pasted into my complete version (as you will notice the presence of variable bit rates).

I...have no idea what William's really long post with excessive blank space is talking about. How could the link go down moments after he said the link could go down? Rest assured, if someone else can confirm this I will most certainly re-upload it.

Is it that difficult to translate or understand?

I don't want you sharing it through private messages either, because that's essentially the same thig as posting it out in the open. The thing to understand here is if anyone ever reuploads any of my works it is going to be me, or else someone who has my express permission to do so.

Well no one on the forum is the copyright holder of the music. That belongs to the composer(s) and/or to the label that release the official album, which in this case is from Varese Sarabande, who we were asked to not to post any of their music anyway.

The Dimensioner
10-10-2012, 12:55 AM
Are you kidding me? I started this thread over two years ago, and as far as I am concerned, the link to it stayed active until MegaUpload was shut down in January. And you just now realized that it is from VS? Even the expanded score (which had no official release)? The rules on when we can and cannot post stuff from them are smudged a bit to me; explain it again.

Sanico
10-10-2012, 01:28 AM
The thread was created two years ago, most likely before the events that caused the whole VS fiasco. All threads concerning VS releases of that time and before that, remained as such as when they were created.

In shot any album from the VS label (or for that matter any of the others prohibited labels), can't be shared publicly in the forum. This includes the official albums but also any forms of bootleg editions and custom made rips, which includes music from the officially licensed albums.
This only ceases to be applied once some score is reissued by another label (taking into account that it's not from one of the others prohibited labels).

The Dimensioner

Okay, um, two things to all those who are apparently incapable of reading older posts, and those who think they can just reupload my stuff and save the day:

One:

The thing to understand here is if anyone ever reuploads any of my works it is going to be me, or else someone who has my express permission to do so.

and Two:

Is it all THAT difficult to understand?

Amanda
11-21-2012, 03:50 PM
Probably. Because once you post an edit, it is not "yours" anymore, it is open and fair game. You really have no real way to disallow it being shared. What you CAN do is say that "hey, if anyone uploads and posts an edit I worked on without asking me, I will just no longer post my work." That's about all you can do. Not intending offense or rudeness, just pointing out the nature of these forums. Once posted, any edit of yours gets spread like a virus, your permission or not. Apparently this extends all the way to ebay and bootleg sellers, even. Including any custom artwork used for it.

As for the posted link, Sanico would remove it it notified, which you CAN do if it offends you. I have pretty much stopped the reporting thing, and perhaps that member just is not aware of the rules. Also, Di, remember very few members actually read beyond the first posts.

The OST has already been reuploaded in FLAC here (Thread 127566). If you're looking for this specific version editted by The Dimensioner, he has made it clear that he doesn't want it being shared around anymore.

Grint
12-31-2013, 12:06 PM
Yea, why would anyone want this specific version by 'The Dimensioner', it's just weird short edits (who cares if they cut the cues short in the film .. I for one would not be interested in incomplete cues, regardless if they are used like that in the film or not), with material ripped straight from the film, and even leaves out material already available. All you need is the OST and the "original" 23 track expanded version.

For those who absolutely doesn't want the original versions, but would like some combo of the available material, at least go with this one, which doesn't seem to have crappy short edits and rips: Thread 165368 (edit: which (coincidentally) are by 'GlassButterflies', who did the post just above mine, I see, lol)

I just tried and the link page will not even load. I really would like this one as it was one of my favorites of the era. It's nice to see some composers still compose music and themes rather than just moods-like Zimmer. Not to start an argument but seriously, I can't tell one of Zimmer's from another. Unless he's working with someone else like James Newton Howard or Badelt it's all just cop show background.

Can someone re-up? Love to have ti for the New Year.
