From the creators of last year's Symphonic Fantasies music from SQUARE ENIX (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=symphonic+fantasies) comes...

...a Symphonic Game Music Concert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_Game_Music_Concerts) entirely dedicated to the works of Nintendo.

The event will include orchestral arrangements of music from Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, Donkey Kong Country, Pikmin, and Super Mario Galaxy, all orchestrated and arranged by Jonne Valtonen, Roger Wanamo, Shiro Hamaguchi, Hayato Matsuo, Masashi Hamauzu, and Torsten Rasch. Tickets have long sold out, but the concert will have live video and audio streams for international viewers to enjoy. This thread can be copied to other message boards as well so that more fans can tune in.

That said...I hope you use the light skin, because else this is going to look reaaaaally bad.

Here is a countdown (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?day=23&month=9&year=2010&hour=20&min=0&sec=0&p0=311) to the concert which will take place on September 23 at 8 PM (UTC).
I made the countdown link for those who have "a problem with the math" and time zones (which should be...everyone).

This is going to be so awesome. Read this interview from Thomas Boecker, the producer of the concert, in which he reveals, among other things, that we are getting 35 minutes of Zelda music orchestrated, a Mario vs. Bowser battle music sung in Latin, a piano-based arrangement of Donkey Kong music...

Okay, this is going to rock!
One question though,
Has anyone opened the video streams and got absolutely nothing?
Yes, I know the concert doesn't start until tomorrow, but last year, they had some sort of live video streaming of the city of Cologne.
The case is probably that they aren't doing that this year, but I want to know if it's the same for others, and if it is just me, I need to update before it gets too late...and I'd miss the concert.
So, is it just me?

What link do I use if I'm connected via Wi-Fi?

When anyone opens the links, does nothing happen?
I tried copying the stream links to WMP and it says:

"Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

Help! The concert is about to start!

Only the radio is currently working for me. Missed first song, but I am recording the rest with Windows Movie Maker (lossless)

Did anyone by chance get a recording of this? I missed the stream. :'(

Like most people, I WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO VIEW THE STREAM AT ALL!!! I hate whoever was in charge of broadcasting it. I had to listen on the slow-buffering radio. Also, I need to find a dl link for this! The 33 minute Zelda Suite was so beautiful, and so was the Wind Waker encore and the Super Mario Galaxy Suite!

How sad, the audio file I was going to link to here is no longer online... I guess I'll just have to upload it myself!

EDIT: Megaupload allows files of this size and is better than Crapidshare:

For higher quality, you might have to buy the CD, but that won't be for about another year in which they will have a new concert.

Been there, seen it!

As with last years "Symphonic Fantasies" it was another great experience, although I liked last years concert a bit better.

Okay, I missed the video feed, was able to record the audio, but I'd love for someone to upload the stream (the large one, not the medium or small streams) unconverted (in the original .asf file) I'd love the 5.1 stereo and as high quality video as possible. (but as the asf, where the sound isn't altered)
Thanks!!! I wish I could have been there, I would have loved to toss some cash in to profit their work. I loved the concert and I'm ultimately psyched for Symphonic Odysseys.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

I am quite disappointing with the ones in charge of the video stream. I've been waiting an entire year for this one concert and then at the last moment, I was mortified to not be able to get the video. This seriously took a lot of the overall concert experience away, for me. The show was still (and quite obviously) VERY enjoyable and I loved every minute of it...but this is seriously almost ruined it (and apparently this happened to MANY others.)

NOOOOOOOO!!!! I stayed up all night studying for a test in college. I aced the test, got home and got set down to listen to it about 30 minutes before it started, and next thing I know, I just woke up. I slept through the whole thing!!!

Thank you, logan28469, for being awesome enough to record it and share. You are as the gods. Also, I second the opinion that the original .asf file from the "large" stream would be great to have. Does anyone happen to have it? I will try to do some digging of my own to find it, but no promises there.

Edit: I finally listened to it last night and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The only thing I have to say about it was the Zelda parts really reminded me of Star Wars. Not that there is anything wrong with Star Wars. Also, no luck with finding the entire .asf file from the large stream.

You are very welcome. The long Zelda song had parts that were dedicated to John Williams, so there were parts that were inspired by both Star Wars and Harry Potter(though I don't know what Harry Potter music sounds like myself. Apparently the second Kokiri Forest part was like Harry Potter...).
I have an archive of separate tracks that I dug up from another forum. I'll link it here as soon as I re-up it.
Don't forget to thank Prime Blue for telling us about it(because I thought I missed it months ago).

The stream will be found!!! And I'll post a link as soon as I find it.

Yaeh, I think you're right...
The best audio can be found here:

(The following was quoted from Prime Blue)
"In the past years, I always recorded WDR4's digital radio broadcasts of the German game music concerts. This year, a comparison (http://primeblue.pr.funpic.de/topsecret/sl_comparison.mp3) has shown that the web radio broadcast was actually superior to the WDR4 digital radio broadcast. The reason for that are the different audio sources: The digital radio broadcast a 5.1 version this year, meaning that the noise from the six individual channels adds up to a very unpleasant hiss throughout the recording if converted to stereo audio (Thread 80680).

On the other hand, the WDR4 web radio had a separate "pure" two-channel version of the concert: No superimposed noise here, which results in a better sound altogether (it sounds far more "full" and balanced). The only downer here: The web radio was broadcast with a bitrate of 128 kbps and a frequency of 44 kHz, meaning that it's a little more compressed than the digital radio broadcast with its 192 kbps and 48 kHz. However, user Whiz-zarD has downloaded the data broadcast on the web radio stream (http://www.wdr.de/wdrlive/media/wdr4.m3u) directly, and kindly provided it to me. I then split that file up losslessly into individual tracks with mpTrim. So...yeah, thank Whiz-zarD for providing this "clean", non-recompressed version of the concert. The only thing we need now is a true 5.1 recording."

Check out their site again. After the concert, they replaced the Symphonic Legends page with the Symphonic Fantasies CD page.

Today (or yesterday) the website is back with the Legends page. The streaming links are gone, but the concert program link is still there; new links show four reviews. But that's not my point in posting this...

Could it be possible that they will be putting the full concert up here to watch?

They already confirmed that they will try to make the concert permanently available in high-quality.

Let me quote Thomas Boecker, who managed the concert and previous Symphonic Game Music concerts,

"It is difficult to predict at this time if a release of the concert on CD or DVD will happen. However, having said this we are definitely planning with making the concert permanently available in high quality in one way or another. It is not going to be lost, and there will be options for fans to relive the concert experience as much as they want. One thing that should be emphasised, too: Symphonic Legends is going to be the first video game music concert that will be broadcast live in 5.1 surround sound."

I believe this update pretty much confirms that they are nearing a date to allow people to stream the concert! :D

Very interesting. It looks like we might be able to get the full thing after all. Then it will be a simple task to burn it to my own DVD and watch it in all of its high definition glory.
