I Really loved the movie. But the score .. uh, the movie worked really well with the music but the music by itself? i dont know. Not so great. NOTsaying there aint any good cues, "Bye And Stuff" WAs great but alot of it was kinda So-so by itself. BUT With the movie = Epic

Has anyone combined the soundtrack and score to create a chronological mega-soundtrack? I'm going to have to watch the movie a few more times before I can figure it out myself.

Shiryoku
08-18-2010, 09:01 AM
I've done it. I've seen the movie 6 times, so it's about as accurate as I can get without being able to watch the movie at my own leisure. I'd appreciate any corrections though, if you're absolutely sure of an order change. I've also combined it with the volume 5 playlist Bryan Lee O'Malley put together, and I'm also going to throw the trailer songs in at the beginning. I did the same thing for the Watchmen movie...

For songs that were the Beck doubles that weren't actually featured in the movie I just put them with their movie counterparts. Thus if you're wanting a pure movie only playlist, I can tell you to remove songs 1, 2, 3, 4, 17, 34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, and 50.

wampachow
08-18-2010, 03:03 PM
Wow! Thanks for that! Just found the Volume 5 OST - I didn't even think to do that - great idea.

The only change/addition I have is the film version of Black Sheep. It's a little different than Metric's on the OST. I think someone just took the audio from the free video that you got from preordering on iTunes. If you need it, LMK.

Ok, now that I made a playlist, I did notice two things - "Love Me Some Walking" and "Hello Envy" are both missing from your list. Was this intentional?

Shiryoku
08-18-2010, 06:46 PM
Oh wow! I totally didn't notice that. I had removed them temporarily because I needed to re-download them from iTunes. When I initially bought the Score, my internet reset while they were downloading, so those two songs had clipping errors, Hello Envy finished 15 seconds early, and Love Me Some Walkin' was only 1:59 long instead of 4 minutes.

If the recording of the movie version of Black Sheep is good quality, I'd like it. But if not then It's ok. I'd probably put it in front of Metric's Black Sheep.

I'll post up a new version of the playlist here in a bit. I'm adding some songs that I know for sure should be in there that weren't included with the soundtrack. There are 11 credited songs that weren't on the soundtrack or score.

I'm looking forward to your update!

IMO the movie version is good quality, but you can be the judge.

EDIT: Better version farther down this thread.

Shiryoku
08-18-2010, 11:03 PM
Alright, thanks. That's working much better.

The recording quality IS really good on that track. I just wish it had the beginning of the song too.

I'm going to use this version (http://www.mediafire.com/?855l1g4r4f9p1wr) though, because it has the full version of the song. I know it has dialogue at the beginning, but there's dialogue peppered throughout the soundtrack, so it doesn't feel out of place. It's NEARLY the same quality, it's just better matched to the volume of the rest of the soundtrack.

Shiryoku
08-19-2010, 03:26 AM
Here's the current version of the playlist. I've added ALL the trailer music and the songs Brian Lee O'Malley listed in volume 3. I have the soundtrack for the game, not sure if I'm going to add that in yet. I DO want to add in all the credited music from the movie that's not in the OST. So far I've added in the Normal Universal Theme from Lucas Lee's intro, but I can't remember the other songs that were credited.

By the way if anyone can find that particular Seinfeld bumper cue that was in the movie, please let me know and direct me to it! That I'm pretty sure will be the hardest piece of music to find for this.

As for the playlist as it stands, I've highlighted all of the music that isn't actually in the film. Some of it IS from the score or soundtrack though.

Shiryoku
08-19-2010, 07:23 AM
Also, the Sex Bob-Omb version of Summertime was ordered wrong, it's supposed to go just before Sleazy Bed Track. It's the song they START to play after Scott tells the band he broke up with Knives, and then are interrupted by Ramona ringing the doorbell with her new blue hair.

Shiryoku
08-20-2010, 08:48 PM
I found 9 of the 11 songs that are credited in the movie but not in the soundtrack. The only two I'm missing are the two Sex Bob-Omb songs, No Fun and Indefatigable. I have most of the music in it's rightful place, but I can't seem to remember where 4 of the songs go. I'm going to try and see the movie again, but does anyone remember where these songs where in the movie?

Song Title - Artist
Latin America - Holy Fuck
Churches Under the Stairs - Brendan Canning
Romantic Rights (Erol Alkan's Love From Below Re-Edit) - Death From Above 1979
Nervous Breakdown - Eddie Cochran

08-21-2010, 07:35 AM
I do have it. I'm working on extending this playlist to include the video game soundtrack, and the 5 playlists Bryan Lee O'Malley made for the first 5 volumes of the series.

I have the Title harp intro for A Link to the Past, and the dream sequence music from A Link to the Past, The Goddess Appears. I even have the battle music from Final Fantasy II/IV. Original version, not the DS remake, though I wish I could just get the acoustic bass track like Scott plays in the movie. I also have the intro to The Ring (Hypnotic Seduction of Dale) from the Flash Gordon soundtrack that plays just before Sex Bob-Omg battles the Katayanagi Twins.

Well, I've never hosted anything, so I'll use whatever everyone's preference is. That's assuming I can upload once all is said and done. I'm looking at about 150 songs in this playlist so far, and I'll only upload once it's complete.

I think megaupload would be the best bet. I get good d/l speeds and it is only a 60 second wait.

I've heard talks of a Deluxe edition of the soundtrack coming September 7th. But I'm not sure what that entails, whether it's basically just the iTunes deluxe edition, or if it even contains stuff that hasn't been released yet, like the unreleased Beck/Sex Bob-Omb songs...

Tom Toonami Tunes
08-23-2010, 04:38 AM
See this is why people pirate music. It's imposable to get entire albums without itunes, importing, re-buying the same thing just for 2 extra tracks at twice the price & buying super limited editions on the second market.

Shiryoku
08-23-2010, 04:58 AM
Yeah, not to mention you've got awesome bands out there that hardly anyone gets to hear because they refuse to digitally distribute their music and only sell cds on the street locally.

That's the problem I'm having with completing this playlist. I had all the music in my library already from EPs and albums that I've bought over the years. ALL except THREE songs!... I'm only missing three songs from Bryan Lee O'Malley's playlists... I can't even find this stuff through torrents or youtube! Ugh... Can't stand the thought of this thing being incomplete...

So, here's what the playlist is looking like. I've got about 98% of O'Malley's playlists, the score and soundtrack of the film, the trailer music, most the credited music that wasn't in the soundtrack, and soon I will have the complete video game soundtrack, the one being discussed in the video game forum.

Songs that I have placeholders for right now...
I have the Seinfeld theme song in place of the bumper cue used in the film
I have the original NON DS Final Fantasy II/IV 1st Battle theme in place of Cera's playing it on Bass
I have the Goddess music from A Link To the Past in place of the orchestrated version Nigel Godrich had recorded for the film.

I'm missing the three songs, and the two Sex Bob-Omb/Beck songs that are credited but unreleased.

wampachow
08-23-2010, 04:07 PM
Looks like you found the full version of Black Sheep? Good quality?

I did some research on the Seinfeld cue, but didn't really get anywhere.

Shiryoku

It's OK quality, I posted the link to the version I have on page 1. It's not the best, but it gets the job done, it's good stereo, decent bass response. But I tried it on an HD 7.1 surround system and apart from being a tad lower in volume it was more than passable.

I know, I just wanted to test in on a system with higher range than just a laptop, or headphones because I don't have access to better speakers on my comp right now. That was the best way to compare the two versions. We also played around and blasted it out of the sound system at Studio Movie Grill to compare it to the actual film. Apart from a little muddled middle ground and less punchy bass it actually stacked up pretty well.

Amazon.com offers a PDF booklet with their download but unfortunatly, that does not extent to the UK site. So I was wondering if someone could upload the PDF booklet that comes with the amazom.com release for me. Hey everyone, im working on a few addition tracks to add for this Soundtrack! I hav FIVE completed:

1.) Ramona (Scott's Song)
2.) Katayanagi Twins
3.) Threshold (Katayanagi Twins Battle)
4.) Katayanagi Twins Vs. Sex Bob-Omb (Finale)
5.) Threshold (Alternate Version)

The last 4, are just film edit's of the Katayanagi Twins Vs Sex Bob-Omb Battle, but the 1st One is the Version of Ramona that Michael Cera plays in the movie, and ill be getting the DVD in tomorrow, so i might be able to get the Bass Track from one of the final fantasy ive heard talked about here, and if someone can tell me what part of the movie the Sienfield Bumper is at, ill see if i can rip it as well

1.) Bass Battle Remix / Prepare (Instrumental)
2.) Ramona (Acoustic) (Film Edit)
3.) Ramona (Acoustic) (2nd Bus Montage)
4.) Ramona (Acoustic) (2nd Bus Montage)(With Hits)

and According to the back of this nifty Blu-Ray release, there's also Music Videos, and im hoping one of them is the FILM version of "Black Sheep" by Metric with Brie Larson doing vocals, if so then we can finally have a true high quality version of that one, and if so im probably going to do 2 versions, One with Funny Dialogue (Like the rest of the Soundtrack) and One without (Which will require some editing)

EDIT:
Yep, my suspisions were correct one of the music videos was indeed the film version of "Black Sheep", so now we have that in HIGH QUALITY. :D

I've been scouring the Web for a high-quality version of Nigel Godrich's score for this movie, and I've yet to come across anything. I've tried here at the Shrine, I've tried rutracker, I've tried Demonoid, Pirate Bay. Nothing. No regular FLAC files, no HDTracks torrents, not even a 320k MP3 zip. One low-quality ~220-VBR MP3 torrent at one of the aforementioned sites, and that's all I can find. This is ridiculous.
