This is without a doubt my personal favorite of all the work he has done so far.
"The Phoenix and the Snake" is a piece worthy of being the final conclusion between Harry & Voldemort and I can't even imagine Hannigan to top this action cue for the final installment in the franchise.

Never heard or seen about an original release. But, there's an expanded custom soundtrack by James Hannigan, you can find it and it's 31 cues.

Was there ever a Half-Blood Prince promo?

Not to my knowledge. The Order of the Phoenix promo is just the videogame OST anyways, isn't it?

I do know there used to be an unreleased track that played on the Half-Blood Prince website, but I haven't tracked it down (though I haven't tried very hard). It played while the trio were following Malfoy in Knockturn Alley. That's the closest to "promo" I can think of.

No, this promo is much longer than the officially released album by Hannigan. He had to remove all the Hedwig's Theme references because... well... you can't just use 'the master's' material, can you now? I imagine they'd lock you up for that next year... Plagiarising Williams must be ten times as bad as murdering your partner, right? That's why I was wondering if Hannigan ever released his promo for HP6 with extra material. Personally, I prefer this promo to the shorter game ost. Much better listening experience!
