Who are the best two to use with Cloud and why?

I used Cid and Vincent with him for the final battle. they were my strongest attackers.

Although Aerith is good too :P

Really, with the materia system, limit breaks and ranged weapons are the most important distinctions; going with limit breaks, that makes Cid and Tifa the best, I think. But because it's not like it's hard to beat bosses in this game anyway (aside from the optional ones) I just pick whatever characters I feel like using.

Cid and Vincent were my other two as well :D Vincent's transformations made him rather versatile in my party, and Cid's limit breaks helped too. Plus they were my strongest two at the time so I just kept them with me the whole way.

And, I was totally caught off-guard when I lost Aeris; I never really liked her anyhow, so I wasn't sad. But the next time I played through the game I just stopped using her all together once I had the option not to. Only when the story made me did I even use her. No sense using someone you're not gonna get to have through the rest of the game.

^ How could you hate on Aeris? :( Her Healing Wind limit break was the most useful thing in the game. I never changed her limit from that.

I always used Aeris and Tifa........ Until Sephie made me rage face when he killed Aeris  Then I constantly used Vincent and Tifa. To me Vincent was a must since he got to shoot twice.

I dunno, Aeris just didn't appeal to me for some strange reason :O Healing Wind was definitely a useful skill and even on this most recent playthrough I'm on I've actually used her several times, because maybe now I'm starting to appreciate her a little more, but originally I just didn't. Not sure, but maybe it just made me so mad that I couldn't resurrect her anymore I forced myself not to like her and to start coming up with other tactics of healing my characters since I knew I wouldn't have a choice later in the game. . . . :O

Depending on the stage of the game, my party for disc 1 was usually Cloud, Barret and Aeris unless the story forced me to use different ones. I didn't take to Cid as much until disc 2 when I used him as Aeris' replacement, and started liking his skills so much so that on my next playthrough, knowing I'd lose Aeris, I simply replaced Barret with Cid and then replaced Aeris with Vincent later on, and beefed up my main party's healing capabilities so that I'd have my strategy ready for when I wouldn't have any other option. And I admit, I was one who spent hours trying to find a way to get Aeris back. When I realized it was impossible, I think I forced myself to dislike her, convincing myself I never needed her in the first place. Stupid mama's boy Sephiroth. . . . :( I did get Yuffie on my first playthrough, but got sick of her almost instantly and never got her again. Only used Cait Sith when I had to. Barret and Tifa were my backup. Oh, can't forget Red XIII (or as I always name him, 'Red'; in normal speech, nobody's gonna say 'Red XIII' constantly. Too awkward.), who was always cool to use.

So there you have it; my three steps to victory :D

@ Disc 3 use Cloud, Yuffie and Cid.

Cloud for his strength, Cid because no Limit skill on the game is as powerfull as highwind. And Yuffie for morphing with her Conformer. Seeing as Conformer deals damage based on the enemies level use her to morph sources from the monsters in the Sunken Gelnika. My party has maxed out its primary stats!

Any way, why is Vincent that good? You need to stat-grind in the Gelnika to make him worthwhile...

I never had to grind in Gelnika for Vince to be one of my best characters. Now, obtaining his ultimate Limit Break took me some doing, but I still didn't have to go to any kind of extremes in order to do so. Aside from the Weapons, FFVII is easy as hell to conquer.

His ''Spirit'', ''Vitality'', ''Defense'' and ''MagDefence'' are the lowest out of every character. Stupid sod was useless in a boss fight.

I was only joking in my earlier post I used Yuffie and Cait Sith....

Yuffie is a great character to use. Find her conformer in the Gelnika (under the pipes) and morph the enemies there. she'll stat grind your party in no time!

To be honest I never used her because I just assumed she would be rubbish. Cait Sith on the other hand definately IS rubbish.

Why Tifa?

Multiple hits for a limit break. By the end of the game, that's the most important thing a character can have, really, especially if you use Hypers to give everyone fury constantly like I always do.

Then use Cloud, Barret, and Cid. 3 Best level 4 limits on the game.

Either Aerith and Barett or Aerith and Vincent

Theres only 3 known people who have an End-Game Aerith by legimate means (not hacked)...

I stuck with Tifa and Vincent till the end. Don't know why but I always make sure I keep Tifa in the party lol. As for the 3rd party member, I always shuffle around with Barret, Cid or Yuffie.

Does anyone else appreciate the fact that "Cloud's crowd" when spoken by an Asian becomes "crowd's crowd"?

What 2 characters would be the best to use with all level 4 limits for everyone?

and yes. I mean except for Cait Sith

Oh and I got 3 of each master summons, master commands, and master magic, so yeah. My party pretty much kicks ass. I just want the best characters

Haha!

For the longest I used Vincent and Tifa, but Vincent proved to be quite useless. His limit breaks just relinquish control over him and I feel that is one of the worst things that could happen during a boss fight. Granted, as CenterCore said, the boss fights were quite easy in the game anyway. On the last run of FF7 (I can't remember when that was!) I made Yuffie and Tifa part of the party and my party was quite efficient in every way. I always favor the females in the games ~

and it's easier to use w-item:

put an item that you got only ONE left of at the top

(for power sources, go to the nibelheim reactor and keep running around the base and look for screamers)
use yuffie's morph on a screamer, before she does that, click w-item and use the item at the top and wait for the power source to get there and perform the o,x,o,x, etc. and watch the strength come up when you use the sources

I could never get the item-dupe trick to work actually. Not that it was much of an issue anyway, as FFVII is ridiculously easy enough as it is without needing an infinite amount of megalixirs. ;)

But I digress...

Back on topic, on my original PSX version playthrough I normally used Tifa and Aeris in disc 1 and then tended to use Tifa with the third character alternating between Barret, Vincent or Cid, depending on my mood.

On the PC version though, I've pretty much stuck with Tifa and Aeris throughout the entire game (via a save file trainer), sans certain parts of the story where the flowergirl's postmortem presence crashes the game spectacularly, in which case I temporarily replaced her with Barret. Great fun. :D
