So how has everybody been enjoying this latest update thus far?

Personally, I haven't bothered with the new limit break yet. Sadly enough, I've been mostly enjoying running around on my DNC, healing random people... lol. And enjoying DW without /NIN. Although I'm still curious about what levels DNC gets the higher tier DW's. It seems nobody has figured that out yet.

If you couldn't tell, I do love my DNC. Thinking I should test out that Skillchain Bonus they implemented too. If the extra damage is good enough, it may make Dancing Edge self-chaining more worthwhile in harder soloing situations. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it were only a 10% boost in damage or something like that.

I would play but, I honestly think I am waaaay too late to join in.
I played it once a few months after its release, but it was only for about 20 minutes and it was on a friends account.

I do remember liking the music.

I'd say it's never too late to join, but... I suppose it's getting to that point. If you have any friends that play (or you can make friends really easily on an MMO), you could still join in and enjoy the game for at least another year or more. Still lots of people playing.

If nothing else, you could always download the 28-day trial and see how you feel about the game that way. Or if you come to the Bismarck server and find me, I could always show you the ropes, help you get started and such :)

Alright, I'll see what's up. I'll think about it. Thanks.

Well, Campaign has become practically worthless now due to the sudden increase of players participating in it, all trying to beat each other to level 80 for bragging rights. Battles barely last a few minutes the mobs are defeated so fast, and as such, you only gain a pittance in exp and AN. So it's just not worth the effort. :(

This madness should only last a few weeks though, once the hardcore community have reached the latest roadblock things would probably settle back down to normal, I hope.

Incidentally, I haven't gotten around to doing the new Genkai quest myself, mostly because I still need to level my subs before I can even take my main Jobs beyond 75, plus I've basically just been concentrating on levelling DRG lately as well.

I'll get around to levelling them eventually, just it will be after all the current hype surrounding this long overdue level cap increase has worn off.

EDIT: Incidentally the title of this thread reminded me of this. (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/Im/Image/168795)

Yeah, you are right I should wait for XIV... Still... might be like my WoW experience... payed for three months and only played for 3-5 days... Wasted money :\

Haha!

The update has bought in a lot of new weapons, finally the Masamune is available (and it's not 4 metres long etc either) amongst others. Raising the level cap, like Enkidoh said before, has made Campaign Battles pointless. Get to a zone, only to find the battle is over or you manage to join in, and it lasts for only 4 minutes or so.

All in a mad bid to shout in Whitegate:

I GOT LEVEL 80 <insert job>!! I'M THE BESTEST EVAH!!

The first to 80 will most probably be a Japanese player with the 'No Life Cap' (AKA Maat Cap)... but then a American player will be the more obnoxious one to shout such things (I'm not trying to be derogatory to American players or American's in general, just the majority of American players I have encountered in FFXI, do live up to that stereotype).

New players still join up on FFXI all the time, and with FFXIV still in Alpha development (I think it is... not too sure though), a street release for it will most probably be later next year. It has become easier to solo what with Fields of Valor and Campaign Battle, so it's really up to you if you want to join FFXI or wait for FFXIV.

Who wouldn't shout I'M THE BESTEST EVAR?

Seems like the natural thing to do to me.

Wouldn't anybody that reaches the level cap first be all like that? I mean it's only human nature to want to be better than the next and boast because you got there first?

I'm in no hurry to play an MMO but if I do change my mind before XIV then maybe ill jump in for a few.

It's a minor thing really... It's one of the main reasons I avoid Whitegate, due to the incessant /shouts spamming the message window. It's not like reaching level 80 is a big deal, as two more updates are slated for this year with the level cap reaching 99 in the end.

Besides, bragging rights don't mean a thing really. Just a minor annoyance, but one which is irritating.

Oh, well if they're spamming it that's completely different.

Seriously, you haven't seen immaturity until you've seen Trade Chat in WoW :/ Just log into the Echo Isles realm or and sit for five minutes in Stormwind, or even Goldshire, the town just down the road; you'll appreciate your least favorite people a million times better.

/end off-topicness.

All I can say is I'm very anxious to get into FFXI and see all this cool stuff.

I'll be getting FFXIV for sure. FFXI I really do think I'm too late for and i'll just wait for XIV. I played WOW for a short time and it was awesome. Was wayyy easy though. Made 200 gold when I was level 20 selling the easy as shit to obtain Lovely charms (valentines day thing) to idiot players at 15g a piece ;)

Never too late to join FFXI Harkus, as there's lots to do (Story wise as well as eventual endgame stuff). There's still more SE can/will bring into FFXI, so don't give up on it yet.
