This game was indeed the one of the best (if not the best) for the SNES. I remember renting this game and thinking it was going to be stupid, but after 5 days of gameplay and not being able to finish it, I decided to buy it. Nintendo Power gave a $10 coupon to its subscribers to buy the game, so that was enough for me.

I adore the soundtrack for this game. My second favorite thing besides the gameplay. It's a shame that a formal sequel was never released... I don't consider Paper Mario an actual sequel.

Amazingly i never even heard of this game while it was new. Maybe because of where i lived. But in like 2008 i got into emulators a lot, and there i found it. Like WHAT an actual RPG with mario? Haven't finished it but I really like it. Just can't believe it slipped under my radar back then. I've been a gamer ever since FF 1. Yes, I played FF1 when it was NEW.

Played it, beat it, alot of fun. The Coolix battle was way more manageable with the savestate option on Zsnes. I still listen to the soundtrack.

thesilentdark, you seem to think this game was as obscure as... say.. doom troopers.
well, youre wrong.
SMRPG was heavily marketed, widely known, and widely praised.
almost everyone who had a snes had this game.

I remember seeing the commercials for this game on TV and not being terribly impressed by it until I actually played the game... This game was the first "true" RPG I ever played. (Not sure if Zelda actually count as one since there is no leveling up, etc in Zelda).

I wouldn't call you a liar. But this game was majorly unpublicized where i was in America. I sure wasn't under a rock or anything, not a peep or whisper that i had heard of.

I certainly knew about it well before it came out and was waiting for it. I remember it had a Nintendo Power cover story (http://www.mariowiki.com/File:Npissue9.jpg) and at least this commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k48m-LOvkUo). Plus, it was in every video game rental store after its release, including the family-owned one that only had a tiny selection.

Ah, Super Mario RPG; a classic amongst all RPG games, considering that Square (Enix) were the ones who had part in creating the game in the first place.

It best thing I enjoyed about this game was finding all the rare items in the game. Mainly because they were necessary if you wanted to beat Smithy without throwing your controller at the screen because his Bronze Bullets kept killing you in one freakin' hit.

Although to this day I still never obtained the Super Armor. I'm still curious as to its effects.

This has been one of my all time favorite games since I was a kid.
I used to run up my hotel bill so Mario would be forced to work there! =P
Then I would take showers in peoples rooms.

To this day, I wish more games would let you run up your hotel bill.

HAHA. So cute <3
This game surprised me with all its hidden little extra's. I wish RPG's today held the standard of SMRPG. Because I can just breeze through them all, unlike back then. ._.

Anyone remember the "Mario Box"?! The little box (I think in Boosters Mansion) that turned you into Old Skewl Mario?

This is one of my all time favourite games! It's too bad that it only has spiritual successors though... But I always wonder if a sequel would really be a good idea. I mean, I'd hate to be disappointed by a sequel... *COUGH* Tales of Symphonia: DotNW *COUGH*
