I used to play back in the day. I used to mine runes and be a tour guide to noobs. I was frikin' rich........ but alas I barely remember how to do any of that stuff now since I haven't played since they 'upgraded' the graphics a long time ago. Made it look like crap and it hurt my eyes to look at it :(

I think TM and Sain have a story to do with Runescape, IIRC? Tell us the story again?

Played it. Thought it was lame. Mainly because I had no idea what to do or know where anything was. I like how you can play it in the browser (or at least you were able to if you can't anymore) but I find more enjoyment playing Shaiya than this.

Yeah, that's how Shaiya is too. I think when you hit level 35 is when you get between 1-3 new quests before having to grind and level to get more. But for me, it was pretty easy to find my way in Shaiya. And I can play that game for hours by myself where I find Runescape kinda dull in comparison.

The one thing I think that sucks about Shaiya is that you can't play it on your browser so I can't play it at work. But it's free and has full 3D graphics. You should let me know when you get it (if you do) and I can help you do quests. I'm lvl 41 and grinding takes a little bit so it'll help with my boredom :D.

I still play Runescape, and i am a member. i became a member after i did basically everything i could free. the membership is really cheap, and the graphics keep getting better. i don't know why people don't like RS but i will probably keep playing for a while.
im about mid-range in levels (except for rune craft, damn i really need to level that up, maybe during BXP weekend). with the update of clans, and clan citadels and all the Graphics updates, Runescape keeps getting better.

they are opening Classic for the last time this September, so ill play that for a bit, if only to get the classic cape.

i think what kills it for other people is the lack of interest Jagex has in other people's, primarily player's, opinions. Jagex has been trying to fix this with more current polls, player's being able to vote on updates, and generally attempting to keep bots out of the game. it was a terrible idea to bring back Free trade and the Old Wildy. PVP worlds were fine, and what is wrong with raising the Trade Difference from 10k to say 25k or even 50k.

I'm not going to rant on about this but i am going to say that I'm a proud member of Runescape and one of the best RP clans around, Kingdom Of Varrock. Even though that got rid of the old Tutorial island.

Well, as for deleting unused accounts, Jagex put out a message saying that any accounts that haven't been active for 2 or more years will be deleted from the servers, so you might be okay with a few.

Oh, IDX, I'm sure you'd love it if you had a buddy to play it with :D Only problem with Runescape is that the higher you level, the less there is to do, eventually causing you to simply quit.

I played a bit of runescape but i quit for different reasons than the one you listed:Grinding is boring as hell and getting 99 smithing and 99 fishing is too boring.

I had lvl 80-82 ish? attack level.

I had lvl 70 fishing 72 agility and actually a lot of skills lvl 50-60.

My highest skill was magic at 83.I started to use a bot program and i lost interest in the game because it became pointless and trivial once you start botting and everything becomes pointless.

My overall view on runescape:Its not a great game by definition, but it is a time killer, and boy do you kill time. You can spend days, weeks or even months leveling your skills and not max it out, plus there are a truckload of quests that are annoying so you can access places.

The game also has far too many botters and this ruins the economy and lurers who lure newbies into the wild and then camp them which is supposedly not allowed.

I think everquest is a better mmorpg, but it isn't free.

Yeah, I will admit Runescape is a timekiller and not much else. It has a fun little atmosphere to it that keeps you intrigued, but ultimately there are much better MMOs. I left Runescape with an attack level in the mid-70s and I specialized in simple melee, and that was enough; I got my fix and I don't see myself playing it again.

There were things about the game that flat out pissed me off:

I would say:today i am going to raise my skill in slayer so i go into a cave looking for some sort of slayer monster for exp like:and i find out:Oh!! i need this stupid quest to get in that requires me to finish 2 other quests which require 70+ in fishing.

After that,i'l get annoyed and say:Fuck it! i won't level slayer for now.

It just annoys me that i set my heart out on doing something.

This was more of a minor annoyance.

Another thing that pisses me off,i can't use magic because i need to raise my rune skill to like 80-99 and have finished an ultra long quest to mine death runes and things alike.

It wouldn't be so bad if the quest unlocked spells for that level that started requiring the runes as well.At least i would have it.

I did some really tough quests as well.Monkey madness was tough because of all those poisonous snakes and the gorillas who throw you in prison's damage goes up as you level up your life.

Once you know where to go,its not hard, but its very annoying and difficult beforehand.

Quest number 2 for the elemental workshop:This quest is VERY VERY ANNOYING!! its extremely long and annoying. You have this huge machine and a puzzle to figure out to get a bunch of cogs in place to use the workshop to create astral metal or something like that.

The last quest in the elemental workshop,is not hard, but the second one is a pain in the ass.
