I converted the songs directly from the game for the best quality. Unlike some of the other rips floating around this includes every music stream (even the ones that involve multiple channels). This is also numbered, includes detailed tags, and has the redundant songs from Mario Galaxy 1 in a separate folder. Enjoy!

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - The Soundtrack (http://www.videogamescrapbook.com/download/super_mario_galaxy_2.php)

UPDATES:
-I added Hightail Falls without any SFX to the front page. I also added the soundtrack as FLAC stereo as well as FLAC surround for the songs that support it.
-More songs are being recorded and added. I may not update this list regularly enough, be sure to check the site.

Just like the original Super Mario Galaxy, some of the songs are sequenced, meaning they cannot be ripped directly. I will steadily improve the soundtrack over time with recordings and more refined tags much like I did for Mario Kart Wii.

This is still missing some songs (The A-pack) like the slider theme and the Hightail Falls (Super Mario World Overworld) Theme. You can see it by the numbers; some are missing (Galaxy Song 11,13,15/18, 21/23, 25/26). Are you able to fix this?

The track naming is based on the actual names from the game disc. Like for Mario Galaxy 1 and Brawl, Nintendo chose not to use all of the songs they created, so that accounts for some of the gaps in the Galaxy numbering. The rest have to do with what I said earlier: they are sequenced instead of streaming, meaning they have to be recorded in-game. This is a very difficult thing to do without SFX and so I need some time before I can get to it.

Hey, making my first post just to warn you guys who are tagging the music too: it's not sequential. Match it up with the OST on YouTube. For example, the world map themes are all messed up. I don't know SMG2_worldmap01 to 03, but it goes like World 3 (SMG2_worldmap00), SMG2_worldmap01 to 03, World 2, World 4, World 1, World 5, and World 6. I think we should complete the game before tagging those

Good job, I'll see if I can fill in any blanks

Edit: Here's my list so far:

I don't think there's any missing from the spreadsheet, though.

Cool, thanks.

Anyway, VideoGameScrapbook, if you or someone else goes recording to complete your soundtrack, I found another song in-game that hasn't showed up in any rips: there are some Warp Pipes that lead to little bonus rooms, usually bright orange, that play a happy, more upbeat version of the trailer theme / Sky Station 1 theme. When you progress in the game, you can find a similar room that plays the music on Spaceship Mario. I'm trying to keep an open ear for any more songs that show up in-game...

There's also a boss fight -- Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole -- with unique music, and when you use the fire flower as you can in that fight, the music changes to a remixed version of the fire flower music. Very awesome! Also sounds more like something from Sega in the early 90s than Nintendo in 2010.

Super Mario World Athletic / Hightail Falls
Super Mario World Athletic / Hightail Falls with Yoshi Drums
Starship Mario 1, 2, and 3 with Yoshi Drums
Yoshi Star Galaxy with Yoshi Drums
Super Mario 64 Slider / Tall Trunk Slide*
Beat Box Galaxy
Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole Boss Fight
Fire Flower for said Boss Fight
Bonus Room (upbeat version of trailer / Sky Station theme)
Enemy defeating Bonus Room (those mini-games where you have to kill all the enemies at once)
Bowser Jr.'s Firey Flotilla Yoshi Drums
...er... every other level with Yoshi in it that has drums (I think there's at least one that doesn't add drums to it, though)
Still looking for more places that won't show up....

*I found a great place to record that, I believe. You'll need the Prankster Comet to be on the Tall Trunk. It's a slide to collect 100 Purple Coins, but the music doesn't start when you begin the slide, it starts when you land on the platform right before the slide. Maybe the drums are separated from the music files. I have downloaded a pack of SMG2 soundtrack, which included The Kingfin battle, but only the pinch and normal versions. I've also heard the special "drums", which also were in Kingfin's fight, but separated from the music itself. I think it's the same with the Yoshi drums.

Also, I'm unsure about that Big Lakitu battle from Yoshi Star Galaxy

Don't see the point in FLAC at the moment anyway, seeing the tracks on the discs are nowhere near good enough to be even 320 MP3's, let alone FLAC.

As for missing tracks, has anyone added the more upbeat press start music yet? Seem an odd one to miss out seeing it's the 2nd thing you hear on the game...

Hey slippyToad, we should definitely combine forces here. I work a lot of 12 hour days in front of the computer so I don't have as much time as I used to for game soundtracks, but my OCD tendencies still sprout up now and again for creating new albums. Since I choose not to mod my Wii, your method is obviously superior when it comes to recording in-game sound which is fantastic. I'm very meticulous when it comes to the actual tagging as I'm sure you've noticed, which makes the rips as close to an official release as possible. Take a look at this public spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AsIJFpJMMVu9dE9pbS13ZVlBMllHY0FFb1RiRTNTc lE&hl=en#gid=0

Also take note of the official soundtrack titles:
http://vgmdb.net/album/19454
http://vgmdb.net/album/18649

We should merge your tags with the tags of the OSTs and the research already done in the spreadsheet. Then we can make one version that you can continue hosting on mediafire and I'll host the mp3s on VGSB and make it ultra clear that you are the one to thank for the recordings!
