and I'm just around two hours in; all I can say is WOW. So far a very intriguing story that is very suspenseful, awesome cut scenes, and SPECTACULAR gameplay. Only problem I have is not being able to skip dialogue quick enough like in cases when you have already read something the character said, and the world rotating function (L1 and R1) can be annoying. Besides that, I am very hopeful this game will live up to its expectations and universal praise.

Needs to get its arse on PSN.

It is on the PSN....In Japan. There is however a way to get it in the US, I read somewhere that you can make a Japanese PSN account on your PS3, and when you log onto the PSN network it should load the Japanese PSN Store. Try Googling it or Youtubing it, that's how I found it.

Well congrats on starting it lol, it's a fantastic game and the storyline is amazing. Really well done. It's a shame most of the RPG's nowadays aren't even on par with the games back then.

Wouldn't it be in Japanese, though....

Oh yeah, good point. But hey at least you can play it. I mean from the US version and the JAP it shouldn't be too hard. If you already beaten the game then you should know what to do and what not to do right?

I have this specific form of amnesia. I forget just about everything from the plot of Gears moments after I finish a playthrough.

It's annoying.

Lol really? Well there's always Gamefaqs, or Youtube to refresh your memory.

Sounds like a lot of effort...why not just learn japanese?

...Or how about just dl the game on emulator or buy the game?

Neg

I do own it. But:

1. While I do have a blacklabel copy it has severe circular scratches and freezes up occasionally (damn that bastard who never gave my original copy back).
2. Can't play PSX games on a PS2 when you're using component cables on a HDTV.

Does the PS3 not play PSX games in the USA?

Neg

Only the very first run of them had backwards compatibility, mang. Took the emotion engine out REAL QUICK LIKE to cut down on cost, iirc.

They did that to us, but I thought you guys still had backwards compatibility. I got one of the first batch :) Mine plays all 3 gens. And I'm glad. Playing Persona 4 now. It rules.

The PS3 does play all PSX games in America, dont know what the other guy is talking about. Most of our PS3's don't work with PS2 games.

I thought the PS3 was only compatible with the PS2 discs and not the PSX discs. They discontinued it due to the fact that it wasted space? I forgot the reason.

Yeah, anyway, have fun with Xenogears. It was a pretty good game and the soundtrack is pretty good.

I didn't say anything about a first-run PS3 playing PSX games. I said PS2s using component cables, on a hdtv can't do it. Same way that VC games won't run on a Wii if you're using the same set up.

Wrong way around. Compatible with PSX and not PS2. Or at least thats how things roll in down under. We have been know to do things differently to those americans though. Like the way our toilet flushes. (And don't you go blaming no Coriolis Effect)

Jeez, the confusion. I know what I meant and I know what Neg meant. That's enough for me. Enjoy Xenogears. :)

Around 5:30 hours in now. Have to add they have an amazing soundtrack so far.

I have a question for ya'll; how long did it take you guys to beat Xenogears? Also, is there a way to change the text speed? Let me know, thanks.

Takes me 50-60 hours, usually.

And no, you can't change text speed unless you hax.
