By the way, is a lossless rip possible?

I have ripped the 360 version and its xma so i don't think so really, as xma is lossy in general.

PC version might be, lets see ;)

and yes amon tobin has done great tracks for this game.

And once again someone proves worthy of being dubbed Beelzebub amongst houseflies. Interestingly, there is some uncertainty about the track list over at the relevant VGMdb discussion (http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4393) - perhaps you might be able to lay it to rest, because I presume that when you cued up said CD on your favorite media player, it had no problem coughing up the song titles.

Just saw the FLAC version on torrents, glad I remembered to check this site first since there's a link to the MP3 version. What the hell do people do with FLAC audio files? Those things take up so much damn space, when I can't even tell the difference between 196kbps and 320knps MP3s...
Propz for this ship man, and guys, if you haven't already, try Double Agent's OST as well, some really awesome music is on it. It's a free download from the composers official site: http://www.behaviormusic.com/artists/michael_mccann/music.htm I'm hoping Conviction's OST will be as good or better if possible.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Yes, it was good of him to do so; I'm suprised that this has apparently shown up on the official SC:C site or forums. The only quibbles I have are relatively minor, and come in the form of alternate title suggestions:

Track 5: 'Coste's Flashback' Track 6: 'White Box' (the name of the company which operates in said windowless building) Track 12: 'Chase / Boss Fight'
In any case, he does note that the listing might have to be updated to rectify possible mistakes, of which I suspect the title of track 13 to be one.

...damn, this is what happens when you don't quite pay attention to what you're typing. If I had been, I would have noticed that a very important word is missing: 'not'. As in, it is rather surprising that said listing has not turned up on the official site or forums.

classic Tobin mood.

I really hope someone manages to rip all the music out of Conviction or Tobin himself releases a official EP or something with all the music he has done for the game.

the Cohen/Nielsen stuff is ok, but most of it its just too generic hollywood-like stuff
works good with the cinematic mood of the game but as stand alone music - boring IMO.
in fact I only like Embassy, Bunker, Research Base and Washington by Night out of the official ost.

I meant no disrespect to Tartarus. On the contrary, I am incredibly grateful for his/her hard work.

I am impatient because the only reason I can't enjoy the music already is because people are refusing to share.

So you are clearly DEMANDING someone to rip the music! You know why some people in this forum don't want to share? Because uploading an ass full of work and getting one thanks for 20 downloaders isn't fair. Of course you can't expect people to thank you but it doesn't help at all if they just leech their guts out, which for me is the same as showing me the middle finger, saying "Ah yeah, you spend 20 hours on this? Well, I'll just take it and there's nothing you can do about it, so F*** YOU!". Sadly that's how I feel about some people here. No-one would bother to rip ANY game themselves, not because they don't have the experience but only because they are too lazy to even TRY! Instead, they just keep requesting in an inappropriate manner. Ripping games isn't that hard you know.
Sorry, this post got longer than I wanted it to be. I just wanted to explain my point of view.

I fully agree with timo, i have had the same exact problem and which is why i refuse to share any of my future rips from now, i have made an exception back then for mw2, but even that didn't work.

Just goes to show what kind of people frequent this forum.

Davd49, begging isn't gonna make me share it, jesus christ pie is right, just wait for tartarus rip and quit begging me for it because i a not going to share it. AND THATS FINAL :D

@Alpha23 and OrangeC

hey, ok I can understand to some extent but at the same time I find it a bit of a twat attitude in the end.

I mean come on, sure it can take long time and hard work to rip properly, especially these ubi encrypted stream shit but you do it because you have a passion for it, isnt it ?

nobody is forcing you to rip anything.

I see it as the same as modding, I modded some games myself and spent lots of time on them but then once released just few people comment on it or even thank you for that or they even just say it sucks, but in the end lots of other people download and enjoy your stuff anyway and you enjoy the stuff you have done which wouldnt even exist otherwise, so I dont see the problem really, the internet is vast place, you can be sure there are peaple who care and appreciate your work even if they dont say thanx in a forum.

so really this "exclusive" thing is just out of place in a underground community, leave that for corporative assholes.

if you have ripped something you do not want to share then just say nothing about it, but dont come here and say "hey I got it but I wont share", is just lame.
its not cool at all.

in short either you have it and want to share, then post about it or shut your mouth because otherwise is clear that user here that are searching for this particular item will ask and beg again and again.

is pretty predictable

my 2 cents

You were going good up until "shut your mouth and twat attitude. You obviously don't know how it really works do you? of course not, It doesn't matter if people don't say thanks, its common disrespect and its called: leeching. i don't tolerate leechers, and if you do then "shut your mouth"

I was able to rip the music myself from the PC files using a tool created by Zench at Xentax forums (http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4409&p=37832&hilit=splinter#p37832). Also, thank you to Alpha23 for telling me about the Xentax forums. My rip will be up on my Splinter Cell music post asap (fyi, there are 4 hours of music).

I think the issue is the people that always pushed and pushed and pushed and when they finally got what they wanted they just take it and leave without thanks. Then they come back and do the same thing for something else. I can see why OrangeC wouldn't want to share his stuff here anymore, seeing as there are alot of people here that are, well, leeches. Still, though, you shouldn't go around in a place you say is filled with leeches and taunt them with more content that you won't share. You're pretty much asking for a fight, and that there is trolling...or flaming. Or whatever you call it here.

Anyway, someone said that this stuff wasn't that hard, and I've actually wanted to get into the game ripping thing. How much does it take, even?

it depends on the game and your demands. it can take from 5 minutes to 5 months or even more! =)

Ha. Straightforward enough. By the sounds of this one it sounds like Ubisoft put alot of work into encrypting the music in this one. Like they know who we are...

And that's a good attitude, Davd.

Different attitudes, different opinions. Sometimes I'm quite undecided what to do because on one hand I enjoy to share my stuff, on the other side, I always get thrown back by these leechers (nice definition, AnonymousRaccoon =) ). What I 'could' do is write some guide about game ripping in general, although it's only possible to a certain degree...
Thanks, davd49 for taking on the rip and starting to rip yourself! That's great news! If you have any questions regarding certain techniques, just PM me. =)

Thanks Alpha, I've got a few hours right now to work on the rip, I've got all of the music in WAV form, so hopefully it will be all tagged and sorted soon, there are several consecutive songs that are like 30 seconds that go together that I'm combining into single tracks. I've also tried going through and seeing which tracks are made by Amon Tobin, although some of them it's a bit hard to tell. What stinks is that a lot of Tobin's tracks are combined with sound effects - but at least we have the tracks that I pulled out of Amon Tobin's website. Those tracks are already posted in my thread: http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?p=1448949#post1448949

Because uploading an ass full of work and getting one thanks for 20 downloaders isn't fair
Let me tell you about the most popular of my uploads that was posted in December 5, 2009 and was downloaded 19 times. It was not hard but quite time consuming rip because I had to cut off some data from the beginning and ending of each file to make it sound exactly as it should (original files had reverb even with an absolutely correct interleave value). There were almost 200 tracks! And I don`t have any replies (except of a PM from the person who requested the second pack with ambient and videos). Following your logic I should be disheartened but I`m simply glad that this gamerip came in handy at least for someone while downloads number of my other files is much lower.

Another example - I fulfilled a request on Gamingforce that tends to speak about its supremacy over leeching FFshrine and received one prop (not even text) for 7 downloads and even that prop was given by a requester.

Really, otherwise for what reason is your new place a secret?

And the last thing: Davd49, don`t you know that he had been complaining since the time he started ripping himself back in 2008? It`s a marvel that he had stayed here by the end of 2009 and don`t you feel grateful at least for that?
