From just browsing all sorts of RPG forums, I'd have to say that:

Final Fantasy 7
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger

Get the most love. I have only beaten 7 and it was a great game. I am currently half way through Chrono Trigger, which is enjoyable. I'm about to play Xenogears next. What do you all think is the most popular or most loved RPG(s)? (NOTE: This is not YOUR favorite RPG's list).

Secret of Mana gets a ton of love. Final Fantasy 6 probably gets the most love in the series out of 7. Idk, every game has a fanbase you know

I actually just finished my first BioWare game ever, Mass Effect, and I loved the game. It's not perfect by any means, but it takes a pretty standard RPG story and tells it in a way that works. Plus the replayability is pretty high up there. So right now, I'm going to have to give that game a ton of love.

But in terms of historical standards here's a few that I see getting love everywhere:

Suikoden II (seems many find this to be the best in the series, I prefer III)
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII
Star Wars: KOTOR
Baldur's Gate II
Chrono Trigger

In the nerdy bunch I used to hang in the 90's the games that got most love were Wasteland, Darklands and Pool of Radiance but since this is no list of personal favourites I guess they do not count.

I sincerely doubt that. FFVII was a good game, but there were other RPG's on the PSX which were either just as good or better (in the eye of the individual in question that is.). The whole 'Compilation of Final Fantasy VII' is a money marketing scheme by SE to scam people out of money to line their own pockets imo.

Back on topic...

FFVII, Xenogears and Chrono Trigger get the most love? As I can only comment on FFVII and Xenogears, as they are the only ones I've played, once again it's in the eye of the player themselves. What one person may like/love more, may not be the same for another.

Hence my answer to your question MastaM, most probably FFVII due to the incessant amount of prepubescent fanboys/girls who cream themselves over this so called 'Second coming of Christ' (Which I have heard some people claim that is what FFVII is).

Myself? I honestly don't think FFVII deserves all the hype/acclaim/crap it deserves nowadays. I mean, it's going to be 13 years old this year, and other games have come and gone which are better/superior to FFVII. Just my opinion though.

Yeah it's online & whatever but it's the most popular & loved RPG these days & the publicity that the game has is just unbelievable, they had Mr. T, Ozzy Osbourne & Jean Claude Van Damme on their advertisements.

wait if you are one with the dark side why is your avatar blue and white? Last time I checked those were the colours of the light side of the force. Oh and Death's Head you don't need to have played Chrono Trigger. The creator of this thread asked which ones you think get given the most love. You may hate it to bits or have never played it before but you can still see its fan base ^^
