Thanks to those who went through the trouble of ripping and uploading this beast. I just can't justify paying for this box set because (a) half the soundtracks are gimped and (b) I already own most of the soundtracks. (Though knowing me, I'll probably blow money on it anyway, if I can manage to get the Konamistyle bundle with the ReBirth OST and drama CDs.)

Snagged all the music just for the heck of it (and to see if any of the quality is different—the old Aria of Sorrow soundtrack is pretty poor, but I suspect this is just the same), and also to have the scores for Vampire Killer, Haunted Castle (I have the CD that came with the Oretachi PS2 release, but it sounds weak—no bass), Legends, the Saturn SOTN/NITM tunes, The Arcade, and Kid Dracula.

Oh, and the Bloodlines OST sounds better than what I own. I have a bootleg Dracula X OST (the original one with Bloodlines), so it's nice hearing these tunes in better quality.

I did notice, however, that they included the librarian's theme for the first time on the SOTN CD. Though why they took out the prolog song (one of the best in the game) is beyond me.

And egad, yeah, AOS still sounds horrible. It doesn't sound this way in the game. Shame on Konami for ever releasing such low-quality garbage full of hiss. The other GBA games sound fine, so why such a poor transfer with this one?

All right, guys (and gals). I compiled a rather odd assortment of Castlevania tunes from official OSTs that didn't make it to the big box set. I ripped them all to VBR 320kbps MP3, all from CDs I own. One thing to note is my copy of the two-disc Akumajo Dracula X CD released in '93 is a Son May bootleg. It sounds good, so I suspect the sound quality is the same as the official CD, but just in case it's not, I thought you should know.

Another thing is I'm not covering any post-Castlevania (64) games, save for the Symphony of the Night songs from the PSP version of the game (just to have that soundtrack complete). For the rest of the incomplete soundtracks, it's much simpler just to download (or, preferably, buy—monetarily support the things you enjoy, please) the full OSTs, since most of them are two-disc collections. For the Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo soundtrack, I recommend the album Akumajo Dracula X Chronicle Original Soundtrack (you can even download it from iTunes for $10), since the sound quality's improved over the original release from '93, and it includes the chiptunes plus cool bonuses.

I hope this is useful for somebody. :p I've set up playlists on my iPod to have the "complete" soundtracks (complete insomuch as what's been released officially), and decided I wanted to share this with others who might not have the tunes. I actually think, in regards to the older games, that the music on the OST box set sounds better than the original CDs. It's probably just a slight mastering difference and nothing more—a simple levels boost—but it makes things just a little clearer and better, in my mind. Thus I've set up playlists for these games primarily using what comes in the box set, and filled in the blanks with the missing songs present on the old OSTs.

This is supremely useful, AF. Looking at the humongous tracklist for the box set, I saw that 'Prologue' was missing from the Nocturne soundtrack, among dozens of other tunes from the set. What you have done here is brilliant, thanks!

"Prologue" is a really bizarre tune to have left out, 'cos it's so good. But we got some cool previously unreleased songs: the librarian's theme, the weird unused track (I remember my brother coming across this song and I think others ages ago while searching around on the PSX disc), and the so-so Saturn tunes.

For anyone interested, I've also uploaded my brother's Symphony of the Night rips that he made from the game disc like twelve years ago. He wasn't happy with the short track lengths on the official OST, so he edited each song to his liking (so you get the whole "Wandering Ghosts", instead of just the loop with the alternate ending which is all you get on the OST, without the first part) and converted them to WAVEs.

Unfortunately, this having been so many years ago, the WAVE files took up way too much space on his computer in 1998, and so are long gone; but before deleting them, he did burn the WAVE files to two audio CDs. (Wish he would have done a couple data CDs too, but oh well.) I ripped those CDs to VBR 320kbps MP3 and here are the links:

He's got Castlevania: The Adventure and Castlevania Legends up right now, ripped directly from a Game Boy model DMG-01, with Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge on the way. His intention is to provide, in high quality, all the actual game music the way it is in-game. As I'm sure most of you know, the official OSTs for all of the old games have heavy reverb and other post-production techniques added to the music; also, some or all of the Belmont's Revenge tunes are also sped up. So it's really cool, and I'm looking forward to more complete soundtrack rips. Check it out.
