Yes. The Gold and Silver versions were my favorite because that's when the new Pokemon were introduced. Which was cool. Then another game came out that introduced 100 more. Then another that introduced 100 more. And then it just got ridiculous. Started making me think that they're milking the Pokemon franchise for all it's worth. But when I heard of this remake (with extra goodies), I wanted to buy it and so far, I'm liking it :D!

Even if you weren't into the shows (of course it would help if you were!), the games are still pretty good in terms of it being a game. I would say to get a certain version, but a friend of mine has Heart Gold and I have Soul Silver so it doesn't matter to me anymore lol.

I'm thinking the oldest of the series might seem the purest and least-milked parts of the franchise, which I agree, is how things seemed to have become with it :O But on the other hand, as long as they're not too different now from the way they once were, maybe I'd give one of the new ones a try first, for my DS :D

I think people just started getting bored with the original 151 so when Gold and Silver was released that included 100 more, it was refreshing to see new Pokemon faces. But then they just couldn't stop making more after that and that's when I stopped. So after buying the original Gold version, I bought FireRed (which was a remake of one of the first games: Red) and then this. Didn't bother with Saphire or the one's on the DS.

I already played through most of the game when it came out in Japan however long ago. The fan-translated patch pretty much translated everything that was required to play the game.

But I'm playing it again now and I'm having fun. Second generation is still the best generation, because it offered some variety in gameplay without being unnecessarily complex (EVs are the worst). This is a pretty good alternative for those looking for a good fourth generation Pokemon game, though.

All of the remakes have been great, though. But the second generation was always my favorite to begin with, although my favorite Pok�mon have always been Goldeen & Seaking.

Gold, like Red before it, is embedded in my brain, I spent many a day playing it and the nostalgia is strong. Heart Gold is a fantastic remake. Kept most of it the same with the exception of the graphical upgrade. Some little differences here and there. I love it.

There was another remake,, i have it.
Its on the gba and is called shiny gold. I purchased it at a flee market of a guy with lots of games.

I still have all my pokemon games and this thread makes me want to play them. I never had the original red, I did have pokemon yellow though (pikachu edition). I never played Gold or Silver either! I have Heart Gold now and it is preety awesome i must say.

I've been building a new team to beat the Elite Four/League Champion with again, because I don't feel like doing the Kanto gyms at all right now. I've been trading over pokes from Pearl from it, and it's so weird now not to have a pokemon following around behind me. That is probably my favorite thing about this so far, tbh.

If anyone wants stuff traded to them my internet is sorted out now. I have a bajillion Snorunts now because I was breeding for a female to make a Froslass. And I have other stuff too. Just let me know!

I bred a snorunt for that purpose. Only took 2 eggs. My super secret ingenious team theme that I hinted at is.......XIII Summons!

Froslasses would have been a great Shiva, but getting a Lapras was easier than finding someone to trade with to get it from my Diamond.

Frosslasses would have been better in terms of cute naming, but Lapras is probably a sturdier poke. Plus, this team is truer to 2nd gen w/o having something 4th gen in it.

Bahamut in XIII is Diablos, I doubt anyone can front on that. Look at the bot mode, and the gestalt mode is a bat-like creature. It's Diablos, people!

My team right now is Lugia, Altaria, Pachirisu, Froslass, Togekiss, and Absol. I went crazy with bringing Pokes over once I had the chance. My original elite four team was Lapras, Feraligatr, Ampharos, Skarmory, Lugia, and Heracross. There are still lots of pokes I want to trade over when I get the chance because watching stuff walk behind me is so much fun.

There is totally a character on CSI Miami named Julia Winston (for the same reason your characters are, I'd assume!) and I was totally tempted to respond with that but I felt weird about it. I originally wanted to read that book because of Clarissa Explains it All. Life is pretty strange.
