Is that the reason for this thread? Just to say that? No offense, but that is pathetic. Surely there's other threads in this section you could've added that to, instead of creating a whole new thread, which will undoubtedly become nothing more than a flamefest.

Get the game, sit down, shut up and enjoy the linear (besides Gran Pulse) 50 or so hours it takes to get through it.

Just don't expect to be able to explore like Oblivion or Fallout 3 at all, because other than the main story and a handful of side quests only made available 25 hours into the game, there's honestly not much else.

Although on the plus side, it is GORGEOUS and the battle system is one of the best in the series.

Garamond has played through it twice.

Bad story, decent battle system (doesn't top X-2's), awful gameplay.

I'm actually really enjoying FFXIII. Battle system is just perfect- the game takes a while to teach you how to use it, but it's fast paced and intense. In some ways, it even feels like The World Ends With You on DS at times due to the pace of combat. The story so far (I'm in chapter 9) is pretty good, with some genuine shockers along the way. And the soundtrack is amazing. Too bad iTunes US is having us buy by the song for it. I call bullshit.

Pay for soundtrack? Surely you jest.

I bought the collector's edition of the game but was upset that the audio CD that came with it only had 10 tracks.

Send me a PM and I'll linky you to full OST.

it's not a bad game but it's not really a rpg i think
i've not been absorbed by the game, liked the battle system indeed, you have to make it indeed

Well, I have pointed him to a few used PS3s that're going for cheap on eBay in the past. Maybe he failed to win them or doesn't want a used unit.

I'm toying with another idea tho. Not sure if I could pull it off so soon or if my aunt (who sorta manages my finance) will let me pull it off.

Another thing I discovered is that my PS3 doesn't heat up as badly when there's a disc spinning in the drive. The case doesn't feel as warm within 30 minutes with a disc in it compared to 30 minutes without a disc. I went for 3 hours straight yesterday and the case was only mildly warm, normally it'll be worryingly warm after 30 minutes. Maybe it helps with the air circulation or something.

Considering that I haven't played XII...

(Yeah, I know, hunt down a cheap used copy on eBay. I'll put that on my roadmap, although I prefer new in box copies. To be truthful, I have a bootlegged copy of it courtesy of a clueless aunt, but then my PS2 isn't modded and I've no intention to mod it :P )

Ya, rly. Otoh, I skipped 9 (was going to get to it sometime, but then a bunch of stupidities happened) and the entire PS2 FF series. As for 7, well... The PC version soured the experience enough for me by crashing too often that I've come to hate it just because it crashes every 10 minutes or so. Then I played the PSOne version and got my gamesave wiped just because it detected I was trying to use a gameshark, and that's because I got tired of getting pwned by the underwater weapon.

I can understand that I guess... I admit I wasn't too fond of FFIX either, and when the PS2 FF's came out, they started to kill the series for me. FFVIII I do have a fondness for, if only for sentimental reasons. I still prefer the SNES era of FF's though.

FFVIII is the worst out of the PSX games, in my opinion. I don't know if it's because of a botched translation, but the story is just a big mess in FFVIII. I read recently that a lot of depth is added to the story if you talk to NPCs throughout the game, but I don't know how true that is. FFVII had a kind of messy translation as well, but it's story is at least fairly coherent. FFIX is the best.

FFX and X-2 are also great stuff. FFXII is a half finished game.

Man, it's funny how cheap US$0.99 PS3s seem to skyrocket up to close to US$200 within the last few seconds of the auction. Never mind, I still have up til October to pull it off.
