FINAL FANTASY XIII LIMITED EDITION SOUNDTRACK (5-disc)
Flac/Cue/Log/M3u

So, here's my rip of the Limited Edition 5-disc OST for FFXIII. Enjoy them individually or use the .cue file to burn the discs. Enjoy this great music.

*Songs you should definitely listen to; Blinded by Light, March of the Dreadnought, and Ragnarok among others.

I split it into 4 parts, I'll update as they finish.
And I'll post in lossless thread after they've all finished uploading so I don't have to update two posts at once

Thank you very much! Ahh, I'm guessing this one actually has English song titles. It will be much easier to remember which songs I like this way. Don't worry about the file host unless they delete your files, there's no pleasing everyone. Bravo for the flac rip!

I don't really care where anyone says to upload something. My rip - I'll up it where I want

It's smarter to use flameupload or sharebee, because you upload at multiple place at once, including megaupload, rapidshare and so on.

Do what you want, anyways I 've already downloaded a lossless version by torrent,
the only thing I miss is the log file to check quality of rip.

Is the ost lossless or no?

Yes, it is lossless. You can play any of the songs in any FLAC compatible player. You can also open the .cue file in a program such as burrrn and burn a lossless copy of the CD.

HUGE thanks to XJF for his original posting of the rip. I wanted to give this wonderful soundtrack some extra exposure because it is quite amazing.

This is a mirror of the first four discs of the FFXIII ost as posted by XJF. I assume most people don't really care about the fifth disc because I didn't even download it myself. I combined everything here in case people actually like rapidshare more than the hoster used initially.

Yeah but other users have premium accounts or just put up with it. My bayonetta mp3 links got almost 700dls each so I have to assume there is a large portion of non-thanking non-bitching users who actually don't mind it. If you used rapishare for a while for uploads then eventually you would earn enough premium points to pay for a month of premium rapidshare and continue the cycle of rapidshare everywhere.

With multiple files on rapidshare, I just use firefox+skipscreen. You still have to wait after every file for fifteen minutes, but you don't have to sit and watch it. For example, I just clicked the links for all of the discs' parts and I'm leaving it overnight. I do this all the time and it does the job.

That is the nature of the beast. Time and time again I see my stuff showing up elsewhere - just lately most of my uploads seem to be winding up on Youtube, complete with the cover scans I lovingly produced - and as usual, nobody's even bothered to take the two extra seconds needed to acknowledge somebody else's rip. It's not the credit that bothers me - it's the fact that they can't be arsed to do it.

There are people with no manners... who you should ignore. And there are good people who truly appreciate your efforts. Those are the ones you need to concentrate on. :)

If I'd paid money (good money) for a set like this, and it didn't show up... I wouldn't be quite so quick to write it off! Contact the company you purchased it from; they'll probably have a tracking number you can refer to the postal service in your country to see where it went. International parcels are almost always trackable.

If not, they're still obligated to refund you if nothing shows up within a certain time.

Demand your rights!

See, it's not really the credit that I'm worried about, like tangotreats said, it's just common courtesy to ask someone to spread their rip around. If I were to upload anything that I downloaded from here onto Jpopsuki or Demonoid I would make it a point to give all due credit to the person who took the time to rip it and upload it.

It's not the credit that bothers me - it's the fact that they can't be arsed to do it.

And what this person said!

The files were originally uploaded to MU but they were deleted in a matter of hours. So, I doubt anyone here would even bother uploading them there, though I guess it couldn't hurt to ask

Sirusjr

I realize your point but like tangotreats said, there isn't much you can really do about people re-uploading your work somewhere else. I don't really care as long as people get to listen to the music that they may not get to hear unless people distributed my copy. Something like Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 that I posted here was never uploaded to the usual anime places so if they later get it i wont mind.

I got it from Play-Asia. I've been a customer there since 2004 so I do trust them. However I had 3 items in the order and none of them were available at the time of placing it. So they shipped them out in portions and the first and third item already arrived, but the second one which was the LE hasn't yet. I'm quite sad but I guess that's punishment for downloading so much music over the years for free. :(

That rocks pretty hard considering that it is the actual Japanese printing, so literally the same product as everyone else who imported it has, but for $15 cheaper and without as much shipping cost presumably. I've heard several times that Japanese CD manufacturing is more expensive because it's somehow higher quality than what everyone else uses. This is apparently the explanation for Japanese editions of lots of albums having extra tracks. What I read is that it costs more for the people there to buy a domestically pressed CD than it does to import, so they make deals to get bonuses on the Japanese versions as an incentive to buyers. Annoying for American completists like me when I buy the album in a store and find out I'm missing two songs I could have got if I did some online browsing first, even if it would have cost $10-15 more (the joy of having the rarities makes up for the cost to an obsessive compulsive like me, haha). So four Japan-made discs for $30 is an insane deal.

Sirusjr
02-20-2010, 11:36 PM
I agree. I was actually quite surprised to notice that they also have a number of other square enix soundtracks available on their web site that I imported. I'll certainly be waiting to import square enix soundtracks from now on because even things like Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant are available on there.

Recently I've bought a Sennheiser HD 595. I used to listen to this excellent FLAC codification with loudspeakers not as good as the Sennheiser I've bought. Now when listening "Dust To Dust" with them I do hear a few high frequency interferences on the track only at 02:32 for example, at 02:52 and at 02:54~02:55.

I've done some Adobe Audition frequency analysis and there are some strange data between 9000 Hz and 12000 Hz. As an example, the next picture shows some strange curves on both channels (but heavier on the R channel) for the 02:32~02:33 time as you can see by the timeline (although it's really from 02:31 until 02:34 almost):

The codification that our mate has done is perfect, and a proof of that can be checked through the .log:

Track 9

Filename C:\Users\Vanilla\Desktop\FINAL FANTASY XIII LE OST\Disc 4\ SQUARE ENIX\FINAL FANTASY XIII Original Soundtrack [Disc 4]\09 9. Dust to Dust.wav

Peak level 98.1 %
Track quality 100.0 %
Test CRC 36D12EF7
Copy CRC 36D12EF7
Copy OK

So I'm wondering if it was an error of the mastering with the disc, or just an error on my download. Anybody else notice this too?. I'll redownload the part that includes this file to check if it was a fault of the download process.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all, this has nothing to do with the codification that XJF has made. I was just curious about this detail. Thanks again XJF for this splendid gift. I really appreciate your flac codification.

Sirusjr
04-23-2010, 10:12 PM
My guess is whatever you hear is intentional. There is a significant amount of music around that point in the track that sounds like its interestingly mixed. I hear something else towards the end of the same track as well. Because its not exactly a clear recording on that track I think its intentional.

Pat_Bateman, I guess you listened the same thing I talked about in this post (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=1466851&postcount=72) at page #3. The thing is that I've downloaded again the .flac version of Disc 4 XJF posted here (Dust To Dust is until the moment the only track where I've found this kind of noises) and I'm afraid that on this other download I've found exactly the same distortions. It may be a problem with the mastering of the disc, since the XJF's lossless codification seems to be perfect.

I've also downloaded the .mp3 version that was posted on this other link by Luxord few posts ago:

www.files-save.com/fr/download-778eefd9e7888b32f57d5d415937d4a2.html
The problem you speak about isn't at 02:26 ?
And I must say I've heard exactly the same noises on it too, the first being at 02:32 as I noted on my post at page #3. You can hear another one at 02:51 or 02:52 for example. Since this other one seems to be a codification not from the XJF's discs but from other ones, I guess it has been a problem with the Compact Disc manufacturing (since it doesn't seem to be something intentional). The three listenings I've done, has been done with the same Sennheiser headphones setup. I guess the only way to check if it was really intentional or if it's only a problem with Disc 4, is taking a deep listening to the same track directly from Oerba in the game. I'll do it as soon as possible to check this out and let you know.

Mine's on it's way.
XJF I knew you bought it because I readed it at the lossless thread. You'll do an amazing gift to all of us if you do a lossless codification of that one. Thank you, really, for all your support on this.

Regarding the "Dust to Dust" noises, that is not a mastering error. It's there in the PS3 version's in-game sound and I'm sure it's there in the Xbox 360 one as well. I'm pretty sure it was intentional.

I believe the sounds were intentional as well. Aside from the static noises you're hearing, Hamauzu is also playing with different delay effects and modulation at that point in the song. It sounds like he's experimenting with effects on this song. And considering the melancholic tone of the song, the atmosphere it induces, and the area in which it is played in the game, I honestly believe that he chose to start distorting the song in order to reflect the scenery of Oerba and the crushing emotions we feel when we see it. As a music producer/glitch and electronic music fanatic, I applaud his efforts. This song alone has upped my appreciation for him as a composer/producer. Rock on, Masashi!

It seems multiupload is down and has been for quite a while. Any chance that someone could repost these? The other ripper has one of their discs missing. Thanks

Thank you. Could you send me a private message with a link for the 64 GB torrent? I'm not able to use MEGA because of my slow internet connection; big files always drop while i'm downloading them.
