The PSP wasn't really all that well received for the first few years it was out because of a lack of quality games available. It always had some gems but it wasn't until recently that the PSP actually started getting support thanks to aggressive marketing tactics on Sony's part and promises of piracy reduction with future firmware updates. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last I heard the PSP-3000 still has yet to get hacked.

Anyways, what's your favorite PSP game or games? My initial reason for buying my PSP last year was because I really wanted to play Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core which to my surprise was actually good. It's kind of hard to just pick a single game I like for the system so I'm just going to name all the ones I like. Also because the PSP is capable of running PSOne games that you can purchase from PSN those will count as well. My library isn't very big as of yet but I plan on expanding it in the near future.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+
Resistance: Retribution
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters

PSN Games:

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Tomb Raider 1,2,3
Crash Bandicoot 2
Metal Gear Solid

I only have five PSP games at the moment:

Dynasty Warriors
Dynasty Warriors 2nd Volume
Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce
Final Fantasy Dissidia
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core

I can't spend a lot of time playing handheld consoles, due to the small screen and having to focus intently on what to do.

Silent Hill Origins

I've never really played a Silent Hill game before. I'm assuming just based on the name that SH:Origins is a prequel, right? Is it worth picking up? It's pretty cheap online these days.

It's a good place to start, yes ;)

It's very much like 1-3, and Travis is an excellent protagonist, imo.

God of War: Chains of Olympus
Crush
FFVII CC
FF Dissidia
FFT WotL You have no idea how good it feels to be able to play this game wherever you go.
Silent Hill: Origins
Tekken 6
Iron Man
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

That's about it. Haven't spent much time on my PSP recently. Until I got Tekken 6 anyway.

Disgaea and Mana Khemia. I loved them both on PS2, so being able to play them on the bus is win.

Initial D: Street Stage
Silent Hill: Origins

Those are MY favorite games because I obviously haven't played them all yet.

I don't have many games (and naturally, they're all FF titles ;)), as I've mainly been using my PSP lately more for playing music. But anyway, my meager PSP games collection:

FFI Anniversary Edition
FFVII: Crisis Core
FF Tactics: The Lion War (bought second hand without a case.)
FF Dissidia ~ Special Collector's Edition

And I enjoy every one of them, so I don't have a favourite really.

Once I remember to put some money in my debit account and clear some space on my memory stick I may download a few games from the PSN Store too. ;)

What's the difference between the Special Edition of Dissidia and the regular?

I've only played the demo of the first Phantasy Star Portable but it was excellent. I wish the Phantasy Star game for the DS was that good because I don't get many chances to play the PSP.

You can play pirated games on a 3000, although I don't think you do it by hacking. I can't remember, really. Rasse and I worked through it when he was here 7 months or so ago, though.

What's the difference between the Special Edition of Dissidia and the regular?

It's a special 'boxed' set for collectors that was only available in Europe, the UK and Australia. It could only be pre-ordered before the actual game was released so it was never 'on the shelf'. Hence if you missed it you were out of luck.

There was nothing extra added to the actual game itself over the regular version, but it came bundled with some bonus items in the form of an artbook, mini strategy guide (printed by Brady Games of all publishers ><), mini soundtrack CD and some artwork postcards. Because I pre-ordered it through EB Games I also got a bonus bonus on top of that in the form of some big lithograph artwork as well. :D

So yeah, it was well worth the extra $20 to buy. :)
