Alright so..I've decided I'm gonna get the perfect ending with a new game plus. Right now I'm right at the part where you're on the farplane with the flowers.

I didn't beat that Via Infinito or what it's called, I just got catnip and stopped. I didn't do the chocobo mission either. Meaning, I didn't get that scene where you have to talk to Rikku on the deck (if you don't have everything done, you won't get it), so I lost some more %. Through my second playthrough, I'm gonna give the sphere to new yevon...do you think I'll have enough percentage points to get 100% by the end of my second?
I've beaten everything else including that boss in the desert and the level 5 machina thing.

Please and thanks!

I'm sure you can find on gamefaqs.com a guide on what you need to do to beat the game 100%. But you basically have to do EVERYTHING. I've heard that you can only do it in two playthroughs. One you give it to New Yevon and the other you have to give it to...what's his face. But others say you only need to give it to what's his face and it can be done in one playthrough. I'm not sure myself because I've never gotten it but like I said, I'm sure you can find a guide on gamefaqs.

If you gave it to the Youth League before, then give it to New Yevon, you will definitely gain additional percentage. There's actually up to around I think either 105% or 110% available, it's just that it will never actually show above 100%. Don't forget that if you're going for the Perfect Ending, you still need to make sure to complete certain scenes in new playthrough, such as the whistling and the chat with Maechen.

thanks, I'm pretty sure I'm at 98% percent right now, I just beat the final boss and it's going through the credits. Glad to know 100% is right around the corner =)

You CAN get 100% in one playthrough. I've done it, using a walkthrough with precise detailed instructions on how to do it. As far as I am concerned, while points where you have to choose a certain path that alters the story or future events (like who to give the sphere to or whether to save the Guado or who to frame on the Highroad) I think all ways give you percentage points, but there's only one set of paths that will give you a full 100%. So, just do whatever you didn't do last time, if that's all you have left.

But yeah, for the 100% in a single playthrough it must be given to the Youth League.

But really, the 100% in one shot isn't really as much of a hassle as people say it is, I've done it more than once. Just need to make sure you know what not to miss. So you have to do Via Infinito, big deal.

Yea, the 100% in one play isn't impossible at all. However, if it is your first playthrough and you're going for it, it can drain the surprise of the game. I've stopped playing it because I kept going to places for .02% completion to get it.

lol, some of you didn't get my question.
what i meant was, i DON'T want to do via infinito or the chocobo quest, so instead, I wanted to do a new game plus so that I could skip those and just gain the lost percentage by giving the awesome sphere to new yevon. luckily agent0042 answered it, so thanks.

Hah, this is one of the few games where I used a FAQ the first time just so I can get 100% in one playthrough, because I heard about the system and didn't wanna play the whole game again just for some .02%.

My sisters have played through it with 100% in one play through. It's pretty easy if you have the official guide book.

Which side did you take? Gippal's side or um...what's his name? He's got blue hair and he asks to marry Yuna (if I remember correctly). Depending on which you picked, it will effect your %.

:D

His name is Baralai -- he's the leader of New Yevon. And it wasn't exactly that he asked to marry Yuna. That arrangement, whatever it was, had been with the previous leader of New Yevon-- I seem to recall that Yuna mentioned it because she wanted him to know that he wasn't obligated by it.

And in order to get 100% completion in one playthrough, you have to go with the Youth League. Which would be Nooj, rather than Gippal. Gippal is head of the Al Bhed Machine Faction.

I have the official guide book and when I went through the 100% completion guide section, even though I was doing everything it told me to do, at some point, I wasn't at the percentage the guide was saying I should be at.

I stopped playing after that. But if it's just an error or I'll still get 100%, I'll give it another try.

i followed the official guide too and managed to get 100%. was something like 90% complete after finishing once, then then get the last few % by finishing the crimson sphere task and few other bits. took two play thoughs to get to 100

But when it said that you were supposed to be at 5% (just a random number to get my point across), it was saying that I was at like, 4.7% or something like that.

oh yeah i think it did do that actually. just a mistake in the guide? or maybe the guide was written for the US or JP version, and the UK game disk was slightly different? mine is UK version

I've never done it in one, though I kind of want to. When I actually got it, my disc had become too damaged to play the ending scenes. I still haven't seen the perfect ending. Two playthroughs was pretty much the only way I could finish Via Infinito. Even with the second Catnip, Trema was still a challenge. I seem to recall the second playthrough adding percentage points even though I didn't complete everything (like that damn coin game). It's been a while since I've played, but I think NG+ did get me some bonus %.
