ok, so I've been using the crater for awhile, its good, except for those !@#* gargoyles. I end up wasting 1 out of every 2 battles casting death force on my charachters. Also, running from them, for some reason I don't know, yields a 30-second load time (note that this does not happen with any other enemy in the game, might just be my system)

So, I gotta find a new spot. Without timewaster enemies.

Which others are good?

BTW, My chars are all L78.

It's been so long since I really played FFVII in depth that I forgot most of the good level grinding locations. So, I went on Google and looked them up for you. :)

This was recommended if you don't already have it.

"Go to Gold Saucer's Wonder Square. Change your GP for Items. When choosing
the item to get, choose the one with ????????, which costs 2000 GP, you will
receive the EXP Plus materia. The one that costs 1000 is the Gil Plus materia."

---------------
NORTHERN CAVE
---------------

--> Magic Pots x1 or x2
EXP : 8000-16000
AP : 1000- 2000
GIL : 8500-17000

--> Master Tonberry
EXP : 6000
AP : 200
GIL : 6800

--> Dark Dragon
EXP : 5000
AP : 350
GIL : 2500

--> Dragon Zombie
EXP : 4000
AP : 300
GIL : 2800

--> Death Dealer 2x
EXP : 3600
AP : 400
GIL : 2400

--> 3 Movers (rare)
EXP : 0
AP : 2400
GIL : 90000

Magic Pots 2x + EXP Plus = 32000 EXP!
Mover + Apocalypse/Javelin = 7200 AP !
Mover + Gil Plus = 180000 GIL!
Mover + Morph = Protect Ring
Tonberry + Morph = Ribbon

Based on the article I read this is the best spot in the game to level up. If you're having issues with it you are sort of out of luck. The only other spot in the game I found that gives decent exp for your characters levels would be the Sunken Gelinka and the Wutai area.

--> Unknown
EXP : 1500
AP : 150
GIL : 5000

--> Unknown 2
EXP : 3000
AP : 300
GIL : 10000

--> Unknown 3
EXP : 2000
AP : 200
GIL : 7500

--> Serpent
EXP : 1400
AP : 70
GIL : 2500

------------
WUTAI AREA
------------

Tail Vault/Razor Weed/
--> Edgehead/Thunder Bird/
Bizarre Bug
EXP : 1190-1665
AP : 96- 152
GIL : 1080-1480

Go further within the crater, take the left path, go into the swampy area (the corridor on the right after you enter the left path), steal an elixir from Gighee, fight the random enemy - Magic Pot, follow Magic Pot's instructions during battle, stay within the swampy area, defeat the random enemy - Master Tonberry, and repeat.

Or...

Go to the sunken gilnika, enter the room where you acquired double cut materia, fight Unknown, Unknown 2, & Unknown 3, and repeat. Unknown 2 grants the most EXP.

You really don't need that great of EXP to be secure in this game. Try farming for AP (assuming you haven't). The Movers and Magic Pots within the swampy area of the Crater offer the most AP in the game. If you have the preferred materia which you'd like to master within the weapons slots of Cloud's Apocalypse Sword, Cid's Scimitar, Yuffie's Rising Sun while all characters are equipped with Rune Armlets, you can level up your materia the quickest way possible.

Don't forget that if you go grinding in the Sunken Gelinka, the monsters there can be morphed into stat increasing items, so maybe using the Conformer instead of the Rising Sun might be a better idea. Maybe...

Hey, thanks.

Well, the magic pots gave a buttload of exp, which was great. And thanks to the infamous w-item trick, I never run out of elixirs. Unfortunately, I had to put my save point there because I had been leveling for hours and went up by like, 10 in the first hour, and dad was about to shut off the electricity because he hates video games. Oh well, get to l99, then work my way out and get kotr (UGH chocobos)

Far as materia goes, I've never seen it level up so fast before.

oh, btw i use cloud cid and CAIT, not yuffie :P

non-canon sousaphone,
Yes, all of the monsters within the Sunken Gelnika you can morph into sources. And it's best to use Yuffie and the Conformer for morphing needs against the Bad Raps & the Poodlers because her ultimate weapon does more attack damage based upon how many enemies it targets; however Barret is better for morphing the tougher enemies such as the Unknowns and the Serpent because his attack damage is based upon how much AP you have within his materia slots.

recorderdude,
non-canon sousaphone brings up a good point regarding stat boosting. Assuming you have Mega All (and mastered), equip Yuffie with Mega All, the Conformer, and morph. Go into the room to the left of the entrance room of the Sunken Gelnika, run around until you fight a Bad Rap or Poodler, continuously use morph on these enemies with Yuffie, mime with the other two desired characters until the Bad Raps or the Poodlers are successfully morphed. For more efficient killing of the Unknowns and the Serpent, equip Barrett with Missing Score and an Edicoat and load his materia slots up with mastered Knights of the Round, mastered Bahamut ZERO, mastered Typhoon, mastered Hades, mastered Magic Counter, mastered W-Item, mastered W-Magic, mastered W-Magic, mastered W-Summon, mastered morph (of course) and whatever materias that have high amounts of AP (just make sure you will up the slots as much as you can) The reason you want Barret, his Missing Score, and high amounts of AP is because the higher amounts of AP you have the more attack damage you will do to enemies. So go into battle, morph, and mime your life away against these enemies or you can just do the W-Item trick. I've never tried the trick though. =0

And yes, I put my save point there as well. If you use Cait Sith, equip him with Black M-Phone because the AP in the slots of the Black-M-Phone will double. I wouldn't suggest this since Cait Sith's attack damage will be considerately low which is why I picked Yuffie.

For me? A good few minutes. When I realized nothing was happening, I said out loud "Well, that was lame." At least FFVIII had the courtesy of saying The End at the end iirc.

Yes. I had a few good laughs. Irvine zooming in on the girls behind Selphie (he probably would've gotten away with it too if he didn't wave :D) and Zell. It would've been hilarious if the battery didn't go out and they got Squall and Rinoa kissing. His reaction would've been PRICELESS!!

Upload it to the internet and I can get you passed the cutscene if you want.
