I played through the japanese version of the game and it is indeed awesome.

Many new things brought to the franchise, but the overall experience is really great. Story is one of the bests of the series and it mainly is because of the many cutscenes. The music is really good and epic at times. But the japanese version is fucking hard in difficulty but dunno if the EU US version will be as difficult, its really hard.

This is likely 320 or VBR V0 (highest VBR you can have). Please post this if you can or link to the source :)

It's not lossless, so no, "good quality" is out the window.

Looks like 192Kbps/44KHz encoded with LAME 3.97.

Edit: I take that back, it's higher than 192. Could be as high as 320.

The OP said he got this from a torrent that said it was VBR V-2. VBR V2 is commonly used in the "scene releases" and usually has high quality sound considering the compression. Unless you absolutely must have lossless it is probably what most people would consider good quality.

This IS the official OST right? I know it has all the tracks there, but I'm confused a little bit because Wikipedia has slightly different names of the tracks and different track lengths. Okay, Wiki isn't always a reliable source, but why would they have different track length/name listings when the OST we have here is different? Makes me wonder, that's all.

I think you meant to say "hardly noticeable." And given sufficient quality sound equipment, yes, the difference is plenty noticeable.

As for working on your iPod... convert to Apple Lossless. That's what I do to get them playing on my iPhone.

Only january and we already have the best score of the year?:D Stunning music, beautiful themes, great orchestrations, lots of creativity and AWESOME use of vocals. It's definitely the most complex FF score ever, and I think it will become my favourite (even if it's not as catchy as Uematsu works). Long live Hamauzu!:D

Haha of course, to do anything less would be a waste of time. I always tag my uploads to the extent I would want them tagged. Thankfully EAC does it for me if I put the file names in before ripping.

Apparently the official translators made a mistake. VGMdb's listing of the official track names says the same thing, but the literal English translation of the original Japanese names 2-21 as "The Gran Pulse l'Cie".
