Hi,
I am a university researcher investigating the personality types of people who play video games and the effects gaming has on a person's general and psychological health, both GOOD and BAD.
I am an avid gamer myself and I hope this research will change people's stereotypical views of gamers.
Please help me do this by completing the questionnaire below.

The questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It is completely anonymous and no identifying information is asked. This information will not be used for any other purposes other than this research.

Please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PersonalityTraits_Wellbeing_In_VideoGamers to complete the questionnaire.

Thank you sincerely for your help with this research. It is greatly appreciated.

Filled it out.

The part that had the "same as usual, less than usual, more than usual" part seemed weird to me. I don't really have any desire to kill myself, and the past few weeks I have felt "same as usual", but in some ways i felt like that kind of made it appear that im suicidal and have been the same for awhile. I didnt want to say "Much less than usual", because that implied that i was much more suicidal before.

idk maybe i'm looking into it too much

Never said it was a well constructed survey ;)

Totally covering my ass, as someone with a degree in psychology~

I was honestly more concerned about whether or not this asked for personal information and if I could leave the thread open.

I AM COMFORTABLE WITH MY PRIORITIES, TYVM.

Some of the questions were just worded bad, imo, and what Cass said.

Why is the last part filled to the brim with suicide options? Were so many necessary? Nice thought to end the survey on I guess.

Apart from the obvious word choice issues that Solefolia and others pointed out, there were a couple phrases that were rather British and might confuse some Americans, as this forum is an audience that is probably at least 50% American. (I'm referring mostly to being "in need of a good tonic" and "making away with yourself". These phrases are not common in the United States.)

i had trouble in the "what primary system do you play" because i play them all those listed on a regular basis except the ipod, arcade and mobile phone.
so i chose OTHER

it is to me, thanks to chrono trigger (snes).

Done it, though I'll admit that I just picked 'same as usual' for everything on the last section. That was weirdly phrased.

I did it, and was the same on the last section as Slavka.

Personally I'm skeptical of surveys like this, asking for personal info. Granted it says the survey is anonymous, but what about IP tracking etc? I can understand his reasoning for the survey, but really who cares? The masses will think what they want to think about videogames and the people who play them. In some regards, no matter what proof or evidence contrary to the currents views is presented to them, they will continue to believe what they want.

I chose not to fill the survey.

Professors I have done research with have used surveys hosted by similar sites. Our office of career development has used that exact site, as well, iirc.

That may be so, but I still exercise my right not to fill it out, and have stated my reasons for doing so.

Well stuff like that can happen no matter what you do on the internet, if someone wants information like that badly enough, they'll get it. But I can agree with the masses thinking what they always will, and how a single survey most likely won't change that many minds.

But, I'm going to fill it out now, sounds like a good time filler while at work. :)

I know Neg, I was just stating why I wasn't going to fill it out, instead of saying 'I aint filling that crap out!'. Just provided imo, a valid reason for which I stand by is all.

I just quit the survey actually, as soon as I got to the last part and there wasn't a 'Not Applicable' slot, I quit.

Have you had any headaches or pressure on your head?

More than usual Same Less Much less

No 'N/A'? As if you say everyone who plays games have massive headaches and we are asked to rank the pain from one week to the next.

Horrible survey, seems to be focused on the negative, as if the survey taker has already made up their mind about how the results should look.

Horrible.
