So, Gamefaqs has yet to offer much info about this, and surprisingly this is the first time Youtube DIDN'T have a weird explanation of someone doing something outrageous FF-related using some weird trick.

So, has anyone on here gotten those 99 Warp Spheres? That's basically the one and only thing I've never done in this game. No recording of it on Youtube either... I heard something about a "time-based" trick, but it didn't seem to work for me... unless someone here can confirm any sort of trick existing that perhaps I'm doing wrong?

Also, is there any way to reset it? I notice when you leave and come back, the item-order starts from the beginning, but the chests don't regenerate. So does this mean that the Warp Spheres are missable and once you open a trapped chest, you're screwed out of them permanently? Or is there a way to reset them?

Right now I'm saved right at the beginning of Omega Ruins, with No Encounters on, prior to having touched any of those chests. I've been attempting opening them, and resetting every time I get a trapped one. Am I supposed to just keep doing this to get the Warp Spheres? Or is there something I'm missing?

Yea, I don't know about any trick really. I've tried restarting after I get a trapped one, but I've only tried a couple times. The guide, iirc, only mentions that if chests are grouped together they have a bigger chance of being a trapped chest, which makes sense on a probability scale.

The guide? I must have a different version because mine doesn't mention these chests at all.

Well, thanks, but anyway... an update: About the "timing trick" that's debatable if it's true, I did hear it was taken off Gamefaqs because people were claiming it was false, even though a lot of Google results on this thing yielded people who claimed it works and they did it, which is why I was initially frustrated, but they also all kept saying that a metronome (which I wasn't using) helps because it needs to be about exact.

So, in the last few hours following this post, I've taken the opportunity to attempt this with a metronome, and... it does appear to work, to an extent! Or at least there is something to it. I was able to get up to 10 treasures using that trick. And it seems to add up for each of my attempts, but boy is it frustrating... You can never really know for sure if you're gonna get it.

Guess I gotta just keep trying... I want those Warp Spheres.

Gah, it must be a Gamfaqs guide then. I usually use one along with a Brady guide on my replays. Do tell if you find a way to collect those warp stones!

Okay, update... the 99 Warp Spheres, they have been obtained.

I can testify that the timing method works, if you're interested in going for them. You'll find in a Google search a lot of people claiming that to be BS, but it really does work. However, it is so ball-breakingly hard... if you hated getting 0:00 for the Sun Sigil, you'll hate this (and I'm quoting that from the FAQ). I've been at it for hours, the timing really does have to be exact on the mark, follow the instructions there... and a metronome is a must. Unless you know exact seconds in your head, which is a rare trait. But if you have a computer in the room, those are easy enough to find online.

But did I mention that it's frustrating?

I have absolutely no idea on this one. I have done a lot of things in this game but this is one a the things left undone for me as well. If you ever get this figured out please stop back in and let us know.

Haha, if you look through the whole thread you'll see that I did figure it out, and not only that, but stopped back in and let everyone know.

LMAO! Some people seriously need to think before they post.

Well, I do find that the 99 Warp Spheres would be nice, but by the time you get them, you're in the Omega Ruins, the creme de la creme of grinding spots. Oops...

I cheated and used Gameshark. It was when I was trying to get that stupid 0:00:00 time thing and I couldn't do it. So I said screw it and just got all items. But of course (and this is how my luck is), I decided to give it another try and sure enough, I got it.

Actually I never thought that chocobo race too hard. Even on my first playthrough it didn't take me more than 30 minutes to get 0:00:00.

After that I was used to it, and it seems now like a cakewalk.

Yea same here, the very first time I played through X, it took me about 40 minutes to do the whole chocobo training thing. Takes about 15-20 now. Easy mode!

Nice ;) I've only done that once, and it took me roughly 45 minutes :O
