Hi everyone! This is my first post, to be honest I'm looking for answer, looked all over the net (someone will probably prove me wrong by finding it) for it.

I have the PC version, with latest patch, I actually own it, my brother got it off ebay for me for christmas because I used to love it when I was younger but it was borrowed. I'm running it on Vista.

On the second disk, in the D-District prison, after the attempted assassination of the sorceress, when going to find Squall on the 13th floor as I go to enter the room it crashes. Tried it three times before coming here. Anyone know how I can get past this problem?? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have compatability mode enabled for ff8.exe? Set it to Winhoes XP. Might help.
What are the rest of your FF8 configurations? (Not the in-game ones.)

Winhoes Vistro is teh sux, but FF8 runs fine on it. It runs its best on an XP/2k/98 machine, though. The difference is mostly graphics and you can use FF8Configurator (the downloadable app from the Final Fantasy Soundfont Project) and some DLS mods to make the music sound better. On Vista, you can only use default/minimum settings for the most part.
I still have my retail copy from around ~2000 when I bought it =]

^Impressive that it can actually run on Vista. I remember reading, on this forum, something about VII not being able to run on Vista. I figured the same rang true for VIII as well, but I suppose not. I have the psx version of both, so I'm fine with those. :D

Also, when I first tried to run Diablo 2 on my Vista computer, I had to go in and select Run as Admin to get it to work. Clearly not the problem here, but sadly that's the extent on my computer-gaming help knowledge. When Vista came out I just kinna lost interest in keeping up with the technical side of computers. :(

lol, I have user accounts turned off so "run as admin" is unnecessary.

I, too, have lost interest in keeping up with the technical side of computers when Vista came out, I don't know why. Meh.

Thanks for the help Argus will try to run in compatibility mode and let people know how it goes.
