Very nice, but I think that JNH wrote more music than Pinto. How author of this rip knew how to tag each track (besides that ones from original OST)?

James composed the action cues of the film while Antonio Pinto composed the ambience of the music aswell as the ending theme. Tom Rothrock is also the composer of the film as he introduced the 'rock' theme for both Vincent and Detective Fanning.

Surprisingly in the documentry of making the film, the only interview about the film's score was just that of Antonio Pinto. I honestly dont know why Michael Mann had only given credit to James as the film's composer.

I just tagged the tracks that were ripped from the film. Other than that, the other's are original tags.

I would kill to get the track heard when Vincent is scoping out the attorney building at the beginning, passing Annie in the escalator.

If there are only SFX on the tracks you mentionned with (*) (can you confirm this please ?), it is totally incredible ! One of my favorite score and movie ! Can you also put the name of the tracks you missed from Green Car Motel, Vangelis, and Thomas Schobel, i would want to try to find them to make a really complete release with the songs too :). Thanks a lot in advance for your answer and again, thanks for this score !!!

Update : here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369339/soundtrack you can find all the songs used in the movie i think.

Argh, i am watching the movie and it is quite difficult to order the tracks and see what is missing, more have a really low volume and similarities... Many pieces of the scores seem not to be here unfortunatly, like the track which "Razorback Ti 22" mentioned... But this expanded version is the most complete thing we have :).

For now, i can't locate "Night Shift", "Exile" and "First target" in the movie, i watched it until 37 minutes. Can someone help me for this point ? Thanks a lot in advance.

Some of the tracks did not make it into the film. Michael Mann is notorious about how music is finalized into his films. I believe this is the reason why he gives credit to James Newton Howard over Antonio Pinto. Mr. Pinto pretty much created a library of atmospheric tracks for the film, with only a few of them being placed in.

Because Howard wasn't happy about his music being tampered with much like Mann had done with Goldenthal on both Heat and Public Enemies. Howard wrote over an hour of music and about 27 minutes or so ended up in the final cut. Goldenthal wrote about 50 or more minutes for Heat and alot of it wasn't used either. Mann's movies have always had these issues with his film scores except his early works with Tangerine Dream which were unabridged.

Unabridged. That's funny since the actual film score for Thief was never fully released to the public. I've had to stitch mine together from TD albums just to come close. Mann is a great filmmaker but his music handling pisses me off to no end!
