Depending on the mood... I play either:

Dynasty Warriors
Being able to just wade into wave upon wave of enemies and just cut them down in a few slashes, does make me feel a bit better. Particularly if I imagine the npc's I'm killing are the idiots who made me angry in the first place.

Saints Row 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV
These two also help as well. Wanton violence, destruction... chaos and anarchy. Running down npc's always puts a smile on my dial and makes me feel a bit better.

So.. what game/s do you play to relieve your anger/stress/etc?

I tend to watch, read, or listen to something funny when angry or stressed, but if I were to play a video game in that situation, it would probably just be something retro that I absolutely love, like Shining Force II, Uncharted Waters 2, or maybe mega man 2.

Now that I have a PS3 I will probably play LittleBigPlanet. :) :)

Games don't relax me, I get more stressed playing them. Unless they are single player, but I stopped playing single player games as soon as I got live.
And even when I used to play them, it was more of an escape to a different environment than about relaxing.

I usually smoke a bowl because it works much better than cigarettes when calming my nerves. But if not that (or both), then I usually play CoD:MW2 with my buddies. Because we're a bunch of goofballs on live (me and a friend yelling at each other like Arnold Schwarzenegger calling the other a clone) and they're pretty good at the game, I have fun with that.

Or play Initial D on my PSP because when I'm pissed I seem to be a lot faster than when I'm not.

Yesterday I was playing GTAIV Multiplayer again... venting. Did the same thing again I told you about via PM IDX.

Parked a car inside a Cluckin Bell Restaurant... four idiots shouting over the headset that "That joker bastard is in here! Get your heavy weapons ready to blast him!". They enter the restaurant, as I hit the gas. Car sped out into them, sending some flying off, Team Rocket style all the while I'm shouting over the headset the following quote:

"KISS MY WOOKIEE!!"

Heh heh, it's the simple things in life that are often the best, yes?

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I can't beat the game, but I love annoying the cops, and killing people at random. Plus I use a few cheats, and ride around on an F-something 900 motorcycle.

I prefer to go out for a drive. Games generally do not calm me down effectively (in fact, there's occasions where my stress got worse while playing games). But sometimes I just settle for a game of Tetris or Bejeweled 2 if it's late at night and there's nowhere to go.

@Topic:
It depends on my mood. Though usually I play a game that isn't specifically hard or challenging, but requires my concentration. If I'm in a bad mood and play games (which is rare enough, but does happen), I do it to distract myself and calm down rather than venting out the steam, which is a bad concept and results in more anger. A good and my personal main choice for that is a puzzler Meteos, sometimes I play a platformer like Mario or Megaman, and sometimes I play Team Fortress, but rather as one of the supporting classes like Medic or Sniper, who don't run around blasting everyone away but have to concentrate. Usually I prefer using the Sniper, but I often end up as Medic. :V

For me personally, my stress-reliever type games include anything with the name "Doom" or "Quake" by id Software. Or, since it's such an amazing game and I love to immerse myself in it, Half-Life 2. That one instantly takes me away and I forget all about why I was angry.

Try Half-Life 2: a crowbar instead of a wrench! Just as ghetto, I guess, and hilarious.
However, in my copy of HL2 (PC), I replaced the crowbar model with a lightsaber, lol. Then raised its damage so it hurts like one too. =P

I didn't do much there, mostly abused the npc_create and cheat codes to set up insane battles between large numbers of civilians and combine.
It seems the civilians outgun the combine easily, even if outnumbered a bit (less than 2:1) or lacking a strategic advantage, just so long as the combine do not have an advantageous formation.
I found through much testing that civilian rebels > combine > antlions and zombies pwn them all. I swear, the other time I pitted a variety of zombies against one of those walkers for the hell of it, and the poison zombies raped the walker in seconds. Zombies are seriously deadly in this game if used effectively. ;D

The models were made by some other dudes, especially the ones that extracted and converted the SSBB models for use in other games like HL2. =]

I unexpectedly got Modern Warfare II for Christmas and discovered that the most cathartic and hilarious thing in that game is to play Domination (Capture Points map) and to use ONLY the Riot Shield and Throwing Knife. Then I park my ass on an enemy point, and watch with hilarity as many players just can't figure out how to kill me. Hundreds of bullets bounce off my shield as I sit there laughing. And then one or two players approach so they can try to run around to my backside. Unexpectedly, the turtle runs at one... BAM, throwing knife drops him. The other one tries to run away screaming, but I just run after him, shield bashing him into mush. You can't stop the Juggernaut!

Of course, occasionally this stress-reliever doesn't help as I join a server every once in a while where people are smart enough to use a grenade launcher on my ass, but is still kind of funny when you realize that they are changing their weapon setups just to deal with you... One among many.

Death's Head -

I think it is fantastic, although I haven't had much time to play it with my other interests taking priority. It is at its best when you are playing with some friends, as it is the ultimate co-op game. For example, there are special types of zombies that have the capacity to pin you down and carve you up, and others that can cover you with bile making it hard to see and fight off other zombies that swamp you. So, if you have some friends, you can have a great lan party just trying to survive the zombie apocalypse together.

However, if you are playing on harder difficulties, it can honestly get kind of harrowing and almost stressful. At one point, I found myself hunched over my computer, listening desperately for any sound or noise that could give away approaching zombies given the dangerousness of my low health, my low ammo and how far I'd gotten in a particular campaign. It can get very intense. I personally would argue that this is part of what makes it a great game. But this is also why I can't play it for as long as I can play other games. It just puts my senses on end after a while.

But it definitely is a good game. I'm just giving pros and cons. If you are interested in getting it, though, make sure to get Left 4 Dead 2, the recent sequel. The original probably has a much much lower player base now given the sequel's arrival and greater amount of options/weapons/campaigns.

Turn and run into a room, only to have the door shake and shudder under the blows of whatever the fuck it was after you.

Good game, but hell... got the heart rate pumping.

I've recently dug up my old N64 and played Star Wars Rogue Squardron and I have the urge to find the NGC versions of the game. There's something so satisfying and therapeutic about hearing those quad guns on that hunk of junk freighter which puts a smile on my face.

It depends on the kind of mood I'm in. It's either Gran Turismo PSP (can't find my PS2 cable to play GT4) or Forza 3 now that I have it. But if I'm in a pissy/rotton mood and want to play a racing game, I'll play Initial D because the courses with lots of corners and hairpins take a lot of my concentration so I don't hit the wall and because I'll be focusing on that, I'll lose my temper rapidly.

Agreed, both Fear Effect games were rather... 'out there'. I also found Jade Empire to be quite relaxing to play.
