has anyone else tried playing FF7 on a PS2, but with the disc speed reading and the texture mapping set up higher....

is the sound affected too coz mine is....the battle victory song slows down and speeds up when you change from the exp/ap screen at the end of a battle to the gil and item screen

Mine dosn't really change at all... all i've noticed is the loading times are shorter

is the sound not affected at all>?

i think the sound being affected is to do with the disc sped reading being set high on my PS2 at the mo,

There's no distortion, it's no different. The speed of it isn't any different either. I'd clean your disc, cuz it may be that.

discs fine.....its happens on other PS2's and with other games

Maybe the disc is bouncing in your PS2.... but I dunno, that happens to CDs but that might not be the reason why the sound is messed up.

yea the loading times are better and the ps2 supports better textures so the overall quality of the game has been improved :)

Same here, I usually play with just the Textured mapping on, 'cause the game seems to crash at times with the Disc Speed high.

i haven't experinced this problem. when i do turn on texture mapping and disc speed up i dont really notice any difference. the texture mapping doesnt really do anything for 7, it works better for 8 and 9. it smoothes out the object edges, that is the real only thing it does

I haven't tried it, but i think it should be right. PS2 was designed to read PS and PS2 games, right?

What does the texture mapping do ?
What's its effect ?
is there a difference if you only use the texture mapping and not the high speed option ?

The texture option makes shape and surfaces look smoother and less jagged, the the disc speed affects load time,I think these only work for PSX games, not PS2.

I too get the problem witht the sound, and I know it's not my disc, as i've recently bought a new copy of FF7.
Also, with the same settings, do you get a small white outline around the buster sword on the title scren?

Do you use a copyd version of FF7 or an original(from the store I mean) ?

if you use a copy like I did its very normal that you're having problems with the sound and screen...

If you have an original game and you still have the problem !!
then it can be this :"your PS2 haves a modchip"

I have a chip in my PS2 and it fuck's up things sometimes !!

I WAS STUPID,I SHOULD NEVER HAVE IT INSTALLED !!

I haven't tried Final Fantasy 7 but I played eight and I haven't noticed any problems at all is your game scratched that could be the problem.

Greetings.

I've played numerous PSX games on my PS2, and I have noticed with some of them, if I have the texture mapping and disc speed on simultaneously, that CAN cause some games to crash. But if you just have one of them on, IE Texture mapping, it'll work fine.

Also, depending on which generation PS2 you have can also determine what, if any, problems you may have playing PSX games on a PS2.
