PSW: smile

Note about the tags: I tagged Hitoshi Sakimoto as the album artist to conform with my traditional way of tagging Basiscape soundtracks. Each individual track retains the tag of its respective composer. I also numbered the tracks from 1-57 rather than 101, 201, etc but you can easily see on the file names what track corresponds to what track on each disc to change that if you don't like how it is configures.

Note:

I realize many people don't like rapidshare for various reasons but after experimenting with mediafire, I decided its the best option. If you get a message saying there are no free slots left, wait 2 minutes and try the download again.

You may find rapidshare is far less annoying with a program called Jdownloader so you can queue up all the downloads and come back in a few hours and let the program do the waiting for you.

what made u pick rapidshare over mediafire?

Mediafire kept corrupting my uploads. So I had to re-upload a few tracks for each upload.

Thanks a bunch, man. I'll use this as a preview to decide how high a priority this is on my to-buy list. Unfortunate Sakimoto only wrote six of the tracks, but at least Valkyria Chronicles 2 is coming in a month. I don't really know much of the rest of Basiscape's composer's works (except Iwata), but I'll give them a shot. How would you rate this Sirus?

12-21-2009, 06:41 AM
Its a bit boring to me so I would place it above only Basiscape's Riz Zowad. Then again I found the soundtrack to be lacking in the usual Sakimoto feel I love so much and also lacking in any real themes to excite me. I sure hope the valkyria 2 ost is as awesome as the first!
BTW nothingtosay, have you found an import site that sells the soundtracks on basiscape's new label? So far I can't seem to find any of the new releases or valkyria 2 ost on cdjapan, yesasia, or play-asia. I know Amazon.jp lists them but they don't ship out of Japan.

I liked RIZ-ZOAWD!

No, I haven't found a site. I thought I read Amazon Japan did ship internationally, but I could be wrong, never used it before. Basiscape is probably too big a deal for this situation to keep up. They've had exclusive distribution deals through VGMWorld for some of their projects before, so I bet if nothing else that'll start happening for their new stuff.

Thank you! :)

I still haven't got round to buying this game, but I'm sure it would be up my street. Did you say that Opoona is going to get a proper release at some point?

nothingtosay
12-21-2009, 07:24 AM
It is speculated Opoona will get a release now that Basiscape has their own record label. In fact, there's a gap in the catalogue numbers between Muramasa and Valkyria Chronicles 2 that should be able to fit Opoona in nicely.

Thanks for the upload, sirus! I'm excited to listen to this!

I haven't heard of this game at all, but that doesn't surprise me. I'm pretty out of the loop for games these days.

Excellent, thanks for the info! Opoona was a nice surprise for me - loved the atmosphere of the game and the music compliments it perfectly.

Hahaha favorite would be difficult.
Probably my top top 4 are Valkyria Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics, Romeo X Juliet, and Odin Sphere.

EDIT: with some research, Amazon.jp does ship internationally but they have a 1300 yen fee for each shipment of CDs and an additional 300 yen handling fee so it sounds like it would be best to wait until there are 2 or 3 cds you are interested in purchasing from amazon.jp before ordering. Hopefully soon the albums will be available in the other import shops. If not I may have to see if my local Mitsuwa can order it cheaper.

Really?

Well my top 5 would be: Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, Romeo X Juliet, Legaia 2 & the last place it's a tie between FFXII & Stella Deus.

Much obliged for posting this OST Sirusjr.
Just a somewhat peculiar question, if I may - did the OST included any booklets with artwork or something? I'm already trying to "track down" a good quality scan of the cover...

Again, thanks for your work and since I'm at it, Happy Holidays to you and everyone else!

Sirusjr
12-22-2009, 07:57 PM
Sorry guys no scans or artwork. I was only able to find the small cover posted on vgmdb.

This is a scene release so I assume it was ripped from an actual CD. Usually they are pretty reliable as far as quality goes.

If you want english track names, just wait until VGMDB posts the translated tracklist and then use mp3tag and lets tag to put in english names.

HelixSundown
12-23-2009, 12:29 AM
I don't want English, I want the 日本語. ;)

Sirusjr
12-23-2009, 12:30 AM
Well you can easily add those as well from VGMDB. Considering this forum is mostly filled with english speakers, I assume that posters want english unless clearly specified.

HelixSundown
12-23-2009, 12:42 AM
Even if the track titles are in romanized Japanese, that's still Japanese. Just Japanese that English speakers can "read," to use the term loosely.

Regardless of my whiny individual preferences, thanks for putting it up.

Sirusjr
12-23-2009, 12:58 AM
Haha its ok. Everyone has similar quirks about how they want their music presented. Sadly this means that you can never satisfy everyone with any one upload. This is why I love VGMDB so much, if an album is released, chances are that you can find English, Romanized, and Kanji tracklists. I would love to keep things with Kanji tags but my current mp3 player doesn't support unicode so I have to do everything in romanized Japanese or English.

Also there is this site, for those who want translations of the track names

http://vgmdb.net/album/15959 Just click on the tab "English (in progress)" above the tracklist. It says in progress, but i'm willing to trust it.
