I've always like the 2nd Gen. the best so I obviously think that HG/SS are the best ones :D. As for my team; because I'm in "training" mode right now, my team isn't the one I'd keep for battling purposes, but this is what it is right now

Zapdos lvl. 62
Lugia lvl 62
Typholosion lvl 65
Mewtwo lvl 72
Mewtwo lvl 74
Haunter lvl 44 (pulled her out because right now I'm trying to catch Raikou, Entei, and Suicone so Haunter's "Mean Look" move is greatly appreciated ;)).

I prefer having a strong team that will demolish any type of Pokemon. I did a battle with a friend who had high level 70's Pokemon and because of playing this game so much, I've learned how to survive battles too (especially with the Elite Four the second time!) so we both ended up with having one left with VERY low HP...but Mewtwo was my last (didn't know any other moves besides psychic ones :() and his was Tyranitar. This was my first battle since Red/Blue and he told me that our battle was the best battle he had. Soooo....I had fun :D!

Well let's see...HG/SS can have Pokemon traded/migrated from OTHER Pokemon games....which means I can have basically an infinite amount of Master Balls too (but it will be a bitch to do and I don't want to do it) among other stuff. So how in the HELL do I have more than just one Mewtwo? I can't remember. Sorry.

I caught a Ditto. I was like WHOA. Came in handy, since I couldn't name that traded Machop.

Plus it was female. WTH.

Weird. I caught one for breeding purposes (I have all the starter Pokemon and I breed them for my other friends to have) but it never said what gender it was. Maybe a glitch?

While Pokemon Crystal was the first game in the series I ever played, I think SoulSilver is my favorite because it really improves on the Second Generation games. Especially since wifi makes it alot easier to interact with other players than it was almost 10 years ago.

Pokemon Yellow is still my favourite Poke game for two reasons:
1. Can obtain all the starters
2. Pikachu tagging along :P

Galdr
08-13-2010, 01:51 AM
My favorites are:

Generation One:
Pokemon Yellow ~ My first GEN 1 game, then it was Red & Blue.

Generation Two:
Pokemon Crystal ~ Because Lugia & Ho-Oh were Lv 60 and obtainable.

Generation Three:
Pokemon Emerald ~ The animations were awesome, and it's WDF on Wallace being the champion.

Generation Four:
Pokemon Diamond, Platinum & HeartGold ~ lol self explanatory a bit.

The fact my Yellow & Crystal versions clock internal battery has died, it won't save anymore, so my save file was wiped.

HeartGold wiped out my 581:01 hours of gameplay, thankfully I had a back-up save... but it was only at the beginning of the game, so it's like I just restarted the darn thing. XD

Emerald, I've never restarted it since when my friend mixed records with me and I went to World's Edge Island to get Mew, and it was shiny~~ <3
Same with Deoxys. Yay.

I wish I could trade my Surf- and Fly- Pikachu from Yellow version... when I had him. I tried trading him to Crystal one time and it was like "NO". Fun times~

The two first generations were equally great, but the first one (Red/Blue) was really innovative for that portable gaming era, while the Gold/Silver generation was not so innovative but an improvement.

I started with the originals, but the Pokemon franchise has only improved throughout the years. The addition of quasi-3D graphics, the added difficulty, and the lush environments of the most recent American titles have really rejuvenated the series; for that reason alone, I would choose Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver as the best Pokemon games. And in addition to the sensory overhaul, they've added tons of challenges, wireless game play, and even a pedometer to these latest installments, further cementing their superiority in my mind. It's true that the plot doesn't deviate much in any of the games, but if you're looking to Pokemon for a good story, you should look somewhere else. The game play makes this series. Even my girlfriend loves the new Pokemon.

I'm not too excited about the absolute newest Pokemon, Black and White, however. It seems to me that Arceus, the god of all Pokemon, should trump the Pokemon of good and evil, and that's really how the series has progressed. Some of the new character designs are really cute, and prompt my girlfriend to buy little plushes of them, but others just seem like they've been done before. Or are otherwise unappealing.

And to anyone reading this to come up with something to debase me on in other threads, I also play Unreal Tournament, Halo Reach, and L4D2. And I'm really good at them.

^lol no doubt.

I think that HGSS was the best thing to happen to Pokmon in a long time. I have been a fan for most of my life, but I can say that they haven't made too many improvements. If you have played all the way through the series than I would hope that you could see what I mean. Just playing through a battle is a lot easier, I really appreciate the little tweaks in mechanics. You can't change Pokmon's core too much, so I am not expecting a lot from B/W but I am still excited to play them. Finally, I will be able to make a team of ghosts with unique secondary types!

Sadly I was started late. (4th generation I think) So I only have Platinum and Black. I like Platinum for the Pokemon, old chateau and the smoothness of it. I like Black for the music overall, some of the more welldone pokemon (Gothita and all evolutions as well as Snivy and all evolutions are my faves) And how your character is more involved.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: My first Pokemon game was Ruby, it was the one that got me into the series. Good graphics, very nice Pokemon, and a huge Battle Frontier in Emerald make it one worth playing.

HeartGold/SoulSilver: Major improvement on EV training, great graphics/animations, the ability to go back to Kanto (just like in Gold/Silver/Crystal), and the return of the Battle Frontier made this the game that sucked the most hours out of my life.
