I just made it to Macalania, and since the beginning of the game I've been making sure to use every single one of my party members at least once in every battle.

For instance, even if there's an elemental enemy for Lulu to kill or a high-defense enemy for Auron to kill, I'll have Yuna smack it or Rikku steal from it before the intended character finishes it off, just to make sure everyone gets a turn.

Is this a good or bad strategy?

I used this same method, I didn't have problems. Though you might have to grind just a bit more than usual, but since im known to power through my games I ran through minor difficulties. Weird because in my younger days I didn't power through games. :/

If you grind you'll be fine, but I recommend picking your fave 3-5 and keep it a bit consistent. The game goes much faster that way. I only recommend using everyone once during every boss battle. So they can level up. You dont have to use them either, just calling them in and calling them out will give them exp.

The character needs to take an action before they are called out. I usually bring in Yuna and have her defend (Triangle) and then rotate her out.

As for the grinding, I usually just use whatever is needed. Auron/Kimahri for armored, Lulu for elementals, Wakka/Tidus for agile and air enemies, and throw in Yuna for Aeon Overdrive building, and Rikku for stealing. I also spend a little extra time in areas that have a large amount of exp, like Mi'hen Highroads, Thunder Plains, and Home. Find a save sphere, and spend 30 minutes just fighting, easy mode.

A goal I have is that by the time I get to the Chocobo Eater (Mi'hen) Lulu knows Fira and the rest of the 2nd tier spells. And by the time I get to Home, she knows Firaga and the rest of the third tier spells. Rotating everyone else as I go gets them plenty of exp.

thanks for all the responses, i guess i'll just have to grind a little more

That's one of the best things you can do; FFX is a game designed so that you need to use everybody from time to time, because they each have varying abilities that all come into play at some point or another. :D

That's exactly what I did in my second/third playthrough, and have been doing it like that ever since. Let all seven of them do something, even if it's something lame like Cheer or Focus or Aim or regular attacking with Yuna or Lulu

Hey, um, I have another question.

I just beat Evrae. How in the world is Yuna going to catch up with the other characters once I get her back?

You should find out real soon ;) It's actually not as bad as you're thinking. If you just beat Evrae, you should be flying into Bevelle right now, so you're almost there.

I just beat Biran and Yenke. Is there an easy way to get a Lv. 4 Key Sphere at this point in the game?

I can't remember exactly which bosses, but I think a couple of the upcoming ones drop a lvl 4 sphere. I can't remember entirely as I was where you are about 3 days ago, and since then I've been doing all my sidequests and all I can think about right now is Kimahri's Ultimate Weapon....

Also, try the Omega Ruins once you get the chance, I'm pretty sure (only pretty sure) that you can bribe/mug/kill the enemies there and get some lvl 4 spheres.

Thanks. It's just that I really want Lulu's Doublecast and I haven't moved her from that spot on the Sphere Grid for a while. :\

Is it important enough to keep her there until I get a Lv. 4?

You should've come across some Return Spheres by now, if you managed to hang on to one, I would take Lulu to get Flare and the 'return' her to the spot right next to Doublecast. That's what I did, same with Auron and the Sentinel/Lvl 3 Lock blocking the way to Entrust. ;)

Thanks, that's what I did right after I found a Lv. 4 Key Sphere on a little path on Mt. Gagazet before fighting Seymour Flux. It was a lot easier on this playthrough. I haven't died once. :)

I say if you don't want to take a lot of time finishing the game, don't bother doing this with characters like Rikku and Kimahri. You don't really need them.

Did that too on my first play time (can't say playthrough, since I left it unfinished before starting a new game)
and I did that too on second time playing the game too.
I kinda tired out of it, though.

I began to use more and more Tidus/Yuna/Rikku and Auron/Lulu/Kimahri and level them in a group.
You understand right? First using Tidus/Yuna/Rikku for, like, 153 battles and then the same thing with Auron/Lulu/Kimahri.
Wakka was a guest star once in a while.

I did this on my second playthrough after having some characters being massively under-leveled. It was pretty much impossible to beat Seymour on Mount Gagazet when Lulu had JUST learned fira, thundara, blizzara, and watera.
It gets pretty annoying to do later in the game, but it's helpful for leveling earlier on.
